Chapter 10 : At The Last Minute

Dexter had just gotten into his room as the scene of the warriors dragging Muna away replayed in his mind. He wondered why Jayden was treating his mate that way and he thought that if he find his own human mate he would treasure her and treat her like an egg.

But he still couldn't understand how Muna ran away from the mansion. Someone must have helped her because he remembered that while he went to check on her and he saw her sleeping he could perceive the scent of another Werewolf in the room.

Only one person has that particular scent.

Klara.

But she wouldn't dare disobey Jayden and take her out of the mansion knowing what Jayden would do to her and secondly she didn't know about Muna being Jayden's mate yet...or did she ?

Dexter didn't know why Muna did not say the truth about the person who had helped her escape and why she chose to be locked up in the basement.

He wondered how she would be feeling now that she was locked up in the basement but he knew that Jayden wouldn't feel a thing but his Wolf would.

He took his bath and was about to climb on his bed to sleep when he heard Jayden mind link him.

[ Dexter get over here now !!! ]

What now ?

He wondered why Jayden was calling him to his room. Was it to release Muna from the basement ? Or he must be angry that he let Muna out of his watch but he couldn't blame him that girl was so stubborn.

He thought she had slept that's why he didn't bother her but who knew that she was planning her escape.

He immediately left his room and ran upstairs where Jayden's room was located. He knocked twice on the door when he heard the Alpha's voice.

“ Come in ”

He got inside the room and found him standing by the window side with both his hands in his pocket and he wondered what must be going in his mind.

“ Yes Alpha you called me ” He said.

“ Didn't I assign you to watch over my mate while I was away with Ryder ” Jayden asked his Gamma in a calm voice without turning around to look at him.

“ Yes Alpha you did ” He answered.

“ Good. Then how is it that she left the mansion without your notice until she got into that forest you know very well is dangerous and filled with rogue Werewolves and wild animals hmm ? ”

“ I don't know Alpha I... ”

“ You don't know ? ” Jayden said and chuckled lightly.

Dexter could count how many times he had seen Jayden smile or laugh as it was very rare to see him smile. He saw Jayden turn around to look at him but he didn't walk to meet him where he stood.

“ You know if I hadn't gotten to her sooner she would have been killed or injured by a rogue Werewolf ” Jayden said and Dexter narrowed his eyes.

“ There was a rogue Werewolf in the forest chasing after her ? ” Dexter asked.

“ Hmm ” Jayden hummed.

“ Alpha I know I failed to keep her within my watch but the last time I checked on her I perceive the scent of a Werewolf in the room before she was taken ” Dexter said.

Jayden frowned “ What do you mean by that ” He asked.

“ Someone was in her room and I think it was that same person that took her away but I don't know why she didn't want to expose the person ”

“ She was just here for only yesterday and she already made friends ” Jayden said. “ You knew that someone was came into her room and you still left her alone ”

“ I thought the person was long gone because the scent was faint when I got inside the room. I had almost gotten to my room when I heard her scream but before I got back inside her room she was already taken and at that time you arrived so I had to tell you ”

“ You didn't know who the scent belong to ? ”

“ No Alpha but... ”

“ But what ? ”

“ The scent smells exactly like Klara.... I'm just guessing though with the little I perceived ” Dexter said and Jayden frowned.

“ Klara ? ” He said.

“ Yes but I'm just guessing ”

“ Did you see her with my mate ? ” Jayden asked with narrowed eyes.

“ No Alpha ”

“ Hmm ” Jayden hummed and turn around to face the window again as his bright yellow eyes stared down at the basement.

He could no longer hear the sound of his mate banging at the door again and he thought maybe she had fallen asleep or she was tired.

Seeing that Jayden wasn't saying anything again and Dexter thought he should leave before he ask him about his clothes Muna was wearing but who was he kidding.

Just before he could open his mouth to talk he heard Jayden say something.

“ Why is my mate wearing your clothes Dexter ” He asked and Dexter grinned why scratching the back of his head.

“ Uh... Alpha she didn't have any clothes to change into so I... ”

“ You gave her your clothes to wear right ? ”

“ Alpha I didn't mean to.. I was just trying to help her ”

“ Dexter the fact that you and Ryder are my close friends and you're my Gamma doesn't mean that you could do as you like. I'm your Alpha and she's my mate so there should be some limit to some things ” Jayden said and Dexter could hear the warning in his voice.

“ Understood Alpha ” Dexter said.

“ You can leave ” He said.

“ Jayden ” Dexter called him and Jayden scrunched his brow.

“ Call me properly ” He said.

“ I'm calling you as a friend now ” Dexter said and he walked closer to where Jayden stood until he stood beside him but Jayden didn't turn to look at him Instead he looked at the forest ahead of him as the scene of that rogue Werewolf chasing after his mate replayed in his mind and he frowned.

Her harsh breathing and loud heartbeat while she was running made his Wolf angry. Her teary eyes made his Wolf mad at him but he didn't care but he wouldn't say that he didn't feel a thing when he had slapped her.

That was the only way to calm his anger down and the only way to shut her up. The girl had a sharp tongue, if it was someone else he wouldn't hestitate to separate the person's head from his or her neck.

“ I know you didn't fancy a human mate but you should take it easy with Muna.... ”

“ I don't want to talk about this right now Dexter, you should go back to your room ” Jayden said.

“ Listen to me Jay, I'm your friend and I need to tell you what's right ”

“ I'm your Alpha and I know what's right Dex ”

“ Okay but please just listen to me. Muna is human and she could get sick with how you're treating her, she's your mate and it wasn't her fault that she was paired with you by the moon goddess ”

“ If it wasn't her it would have been someone else but still a human, you can't change the fact. I think it's about time you start to treat her nicely ” Dexter finished talking but didn't get a reply from Jayden.

“ I'll be going back to my room ” He said and left but before he could walk out the door he turned around to look at Jayden one more time and sighed “ She's not as you think she is , she's really a kind person ” He said and left.

Jayden continue to stand at the window side and he looked down at the basement and thought about what Dexter said and he raked his fingers through his hair and sighed.

He continued to stand there when he heard another knock on the door and he frowned “ Dexter what is it again ? ” He said snarling as he turned around to look at the door with a deep frown on his face.

“ You mean to tell me that you don't recognize how I knock anymore huh ” A feminine voice said from behind the door and Klara opened the door and walked inside the room.

She was wearing a sexy red night dress that exposed too much of her skin. Her cleavage and white thighs were visible but Jayden frowned even more as he let out a low growl.

“ Why are you here Klara and did I let you in ” Jayden said as he watch her walk sexily towards him.

“ I know you're in an angry mood so I thought I should come tonight into your room to calm you down with my sweet kisses " Klara said biting her lips sexily as she was now standing in front of him and she wrapped her arms around his neck while staring at his red lips.

“ Get out of my room Klara ” Jayden said with traces of anger in voice.

“ What ? You never reject my kisses ” She said and leaned forward to him and she kissed him biting and nibbling his lips when she felt him wrap his hand around her neck and pushed her towards the open window.

Her eyes got wide when he pressed her back against the window and her head was outside.

Did he plan on pushing out of the window ?

What did she do wrong ?

“ Jayden what are you doing, let me go. Did you want to kill me ” She said in a choked voice as she tried to push his hand off her neck.

“ Were the one who let my mate out of the mansion ? ” Jayden asked as he increased the pressure on her neck and Klara found it hard to breathe

Did he find out ?

No ! He couldn't. No one saw her.

“ What are you talking about ? What mate ? You're choking me Jayden ” She pretended not to know what he was saying.

“ So you're telling me that you haven't met my mate huh ” Jayden asked.

“ N.. no, did you tell me that you were going to find your mate ? I didn't know anything about that , Let me go !! ”

Jayden finally pulled her back into the room and pushed her aside and Klara rubbed her neck as she coughed while glaring at him.

Jeez !! that was so close.

“ If I find out that you had a hand in this I won't spare you one bit now get out !!! ” He said.

“ Now I see, it's because you already found your mate that's why you didn't want me anymore after you had used me as you wished ” She said and left angrily.

After she left, Jayden stared at the basement one more time before he turned around and walked towards his bed and he climbed on it as he lay down to sleep.

Holland Mansion....

The next day at the Holland mansion Raymond had not shown any sign of waking up but Raphael, the healer had told Lord Tristan over and over again that he was fine and he was just resting and would wake up soon.

But the Lord asked his healer when his son would be awake and the healer said today.

“ What time ? ” He asked.

“ That I cannot tell my Lord ” he answered with his head bowed.

“ What do mean you cannot tell ” The Lord asked frustrated.

“ Please calm down my Lord ”

“ My son has been unconscious since yesterday which I don't know what that witch girl did to him with her magic spells and you're asking me to be calm ” Lord Tristan said angrily.

“ My apologies my Lord I would go check on Master Raymond again ” Raphael said and left the scrutinizing gaze of the Lord.

If looks could kill he was sure that he would have been dead by now.

Tristan watched him go as he sat back on his chair and he entwined his fingers together. If Raphael comes back without good news that his son was finally awake he wouldn't hesitate to eliminate those two girls in the cell.

Meanwhile at the cell...

Danielle and Sharon hadn't said anything to each other since after the quarrel between them. They had been quiet thinking about what would happen to them if Raymond didn't wake up.

“ Hi Sharon ” Danielle said breaking the silence between them.

“ Hey ” Sharon said.

“ I'm sorry that I got us into this mess I didn't know it would end like this ” She said and Sharon just hummed.

“ Do you think Raymond is awake by now ” Danielle said.

“ If he was awake we wouldn't still be sitting here in the cell ” Sharon said.

“ Yeah, you're right ” Danielle said nodding her head sadly as she prayed to the moon goddess to help them out of their situation.

Back at the living room Raphael had returned back but without good news and this angered the Lord and he ordered for the execution of the girls in the cell.

His guards immediately left towards the cell and brought out Danielle and Sharon and knelt them down in front of the Lord.

They were both handcuffed.

The Lord stood up and walked towards them with an angry face as he stared down at them. They watched as his fingers elongated and they both became scared and tears began to flow down Danielle cheeks but Sharon didn't show any emotion in her face.

“ I told you both that if my son is not awake by today I'll slit both your throats and now I won't go back on my words ” He said.

“ Please don't do this please Lord Tristan ” Danielle pleaded.

“ Save your breathe ” The Lord said and raised his hand towards Danielle and was about to slit her throat when someone stopped him at the last minute.

“ What's going on here Dad ”
