Chapter Nine

Airen's POV

Rachel and I sat in the kitchen talking for a while. She sipped her coffee while I chugged glass after glass of water.

No matter how much water I drank I didn't feel any better. If anything I was getting worse. Nasuea ruled my stomach with an iorn fist until even ice-cold water sounded unappealing. Lightheadedness and dizziness forced me to take a seat on a bar stool next to Rachel. My body was shaking like a leaf in brutally harsh wind and I felt weaker than a newborn lamb. Aches soon began to curl around my muscles like shadowy fingers strangling them.

I tried to focus on the conversation with Rachel, and tried to act like nothing was wrong, but I knew that soon my nose would start to bleed and I would be forced to the bathroom in order to throw up the very limited contents of my stomach.

The mention of my son, however, forced me to re-focus on the conversation.

"So James is....." Rachel trialed off allowing the unfinished thought to linger in the air.
