Davina's POV

Moments after Lucien had left, I was still on the floor, staring at the half burnt shelf. Kane was at the corner, clutching his injured arm and cursing.

"Don't ever let yourself think you are important because he saved you." He said so low, I would have missed it if I wasn't paying attention. "You are a leverage. When he is done with you, he will discard you like the trash you are."

Trash. Unimportant. I shook my head, refusing to believe those words.

"Davina?" Rowan gasped as he entered, his eyes wide in shock. He took in our surrounding, and when he saw Kane, he went red with rage. "You hurt her?"

"She is the daughter of the fucking enemy! I don't know why you and Lucien think keeping her alive is a great idea. Kill the fucking bitch and be done with it."

Even though Rowan was angry, he ignored Kane and faced me instead. Crouching, he picked me up, holding me gently.
