“What the hell happened?!” Jonathan asked as he stared at me.I could ask him the same thing, but I understood why he was worried and angry as soon as he saw me. I was covered in blood; it wasn’t my blood though. It was Dominic’s. I didn’t have the time to clean myself off and change before Jonathan came home. I just finished hiding Dominic’s body and my body was still trembling in fear of what had just happened.“He was trying to kidnap our daughter,” I shot back in my defense. I mean, what else was he expecting me to do? Allow for someone to take Emee and bring her back to Greggory. Over my dead body would I ever allow for that to happen. “Greggory sent him to take Emee for whatever reason.”Jonathan’s face fell.“So, you killed Dominic?” Jonathan asked.I rolled my eyes.“I had to do what I could to protect Emee,” I told him; I was aware I sounded aggravated.“We don’t kill other wolves, Arina,” Jonathan argued.“What about Graham?” I nearly hissed; it wasn’t fair that he was fight
Days later, Jessica remained at Dr. Beverly’s office in her coma. There have been no signs of her waking up which has been troubling for us all. Spencer stayed by her side constantly; he refused to leave for a while. He hardly slept; it pulled at my heart to see someone who genuinely cared about Jessica to be by her side, and she doesn’t even know it.Jonathan filled me in with everything he found out about Spencer; how his mom gave him up to a random couple that treated him poorly. He lived a life being taken advantage of, abused, tortured, and left for dead. He eventually escaped those horrid conditions, thankfully. But, on his travels, he had a dream about my mother, and she told him he needed to get to Moon-Valley. For some reason, she was steering him towards Jessica. Jonathan managed to convince Spencer to stay with us in one of the guest bedrooms for right now until he can figure out what his next move is. We told him he was more than welcome to reside in Sabrebite predominate
As we were heading back to Sabrebite, Spencer wolf-linked us to let us know that Jessica had woken up. But he said something was wrong and that we needed to get back right away. I couldn’t imagine would possibly be wrong; I mean, she actually woke up. That was huge. Dr. Beverly was apprehensive about her not waking up, which made us worried that she wasn’t going to wake up as well. I was excited to see her and find out everything that happened.Jonathan kept telling me that I can’t hassle her with questions. I needed to let her rest and come to terms with what happened to begin with.“You weren’t there, Arina,” he said as we approached Dr. Beverly’s office. “It was really bad. She was beaten to a point where she was almost unrecognizable until we got the blood cleaned off her face and some of the swellings went down.”“I get that, but don’t you want to know her side of the story. Like what set him off, to begin with?” I asked, staring up at him.He looked disappointed in my question;
After spending a few hours at the doctor’s office with Jessica, Jonathan and I decided it was time to head home and spend the rest of the evening with Emee. With Greggory still out there and on the hunt for her, we weren’t nervous about leaving Emee alone any longer than we needed to. Jess hadn’t reached out to either of us since we left for Silverside that morning, so that was definitely a good sign.I was tired of being away from Emee and wished we could have a bit of normalcy. However, we also needed to figure out a way to protect Ronnie from the wrath of Willa. I was scared that she was going to make her move soon if we didn’t do something about it and I wasn’t even sure what it was we could do to stop her.I wished more than anything that my mother was there to help us. I stared up at the moon and saw her rays lighting up our passageway home. She was always there watching over us and for some reason she was also watching over Spencer as well. The fact that she trusts Spencer make
Ronnie felt as though she was no longer her own person; she wanted to trust and believe Arina and Jonathan when they said they were going to protect her, but she couldn’t help but fear that Willa was going to get to her before they even had the chance to summon Naomi and defeat her.Erick also worried; Ronnie hasn’t been sleeping and she’s hardly been eating. She knew she worried him by how she was acting but he was too nice to say anything to her besides express his concern for her wellbeing. She was thankful that he was still by her side regardless of everything that was happening. She felt bad because she felt as though she was bringing all this danger and drama into his life, but he kept reassuring her that it wasn’t her fault and that nothing was going to chase him away.He was her mate after all. Literally, nothing could chase him off regardless of how hard she tried.Boris had come by last night to tell them that Nikini was dead and that Melissa/Willa was missing. He didn’t kno
The red moon was fast approaching; I wasn’t sure we were half as prepared as we wanted to be. Ronnie was still safe in the bunker; Erick would bounce in and out to make sure she was safe, but he hired a few different wolves, including the new chief of the police department, to keep a watch on the bunker and Ronnie to make sure nothing suspicious was happening around her.Jessica arrived shortly after Jess did after Ronnie and Erick left. She was still clueless as to what was happening and who everybody was, but she wasn’t as freaked out as she was when she first woke up. We set her up in the guest bedroom where Spencer was staying. He was sweet by taking care of her and making sure she was comfortable.I felt better knowing they were close by and safe from Greggory. None of us knew where Greggory or Willa was; they were impossible to find even with Jonathan’s Overseer powers.The morning of the red moon, the Sabrebite pack was setting up for the upcoming ceremony that night. “Mom?” I said, staring at my mother who stood amongst us with her white aura surrounding her.She looked so beautiful; more beautiful than when she came to me in my dream. I couldn’t believe she was actually standing in front of us. I glanced around at all the other faces that were equally shocked and in awe to make sure I wasn’t the only one who could see her.Telling from their faces, I was not.She turned to me; her face lighting up even more than it was when she arrived. But the moment didn’t last long. Her green eyes darkened, turning serious and her expression showed worry.“Willa went to the center of town with Emee. You need to hurry and get there. She wants to perform the sacrifice at the bonfire,” my mother told us.Her voice was exactly as I remembered it; it filled me with warmth knowing I had her there and by my side, but I couldn’t wallow in her presence. My heart was screaming was Emee; I needed to save my daughter.I transitioned back into my wolf form; I felt the powe
Spencer was waiting for us outside the bunker doorway; his features looked pale white. I saw some blood trickling from his knuckles from when he was punching the door in an attempt to get it open. As we approached him a flood of relief washed over him, and I could literally hear his heart rate lessening.“I brought some reinforcements,” I told him, motioning for my mom and Naomi.He stepped aside from the door to join me as we watched my mom and Naomi approach the door cautiously.“Were you able to hear and speak with them?” I asked, keeping my tone low.He shook his head; the grim look on his face returned.“No, I tried to link them, and I couldn’t get a hold of either of them,” Spencer said.That wasn’t sounding good; that heavy feeling in my stomach was returning.“With the enchantment, Willa put on the bunker, it seems she put a block on it as well. You won’t be able to communicate with them until we get it open,” Naomi answered, overhearing our conversation.I breathed out in rel
