KALILA POV

After a few seconds, my anger subsided, and hunger returned, causing my stomach to grumble. Groaning, I clutched my stomach and considered what to eat next. Suddenly, my phone rang, and I glimpsed at the screen to see Leia's name flashing.

Rolling my eyes, I swiped to answer.

"Ma'am, what do I need to bring for you for lunch? I see you haven't eaten anything," Leia asked, concerned.

"That's very thoughtful of you, Leia," I murmured, my voice laced with sarcasm.

"I'm really sorry, ma'am. I thought you could manage yourself, and I didn't want to go against the Alpha's instructions."

"It's fine," I cut her off. "Just get me something edible to eat because right now, I doubt I can last another minute in this hellhole."

"I'll do that right away!" Leia said, hanging up.

As I waited, my ears twitched as the door to Ares' office opened. I narrowed my eyes, watching discreetly through the transparent glass to see Jeremy enter.
