Luna's special tea

ARES POV

Dahlia

That was the thought in my head as I walked toward her room. I had gotten information that she had woken up suddenly.

Dahlia was my Luna, and she had gotten into a coma when Rogues attacked my pack. I wasn't present; I had gone for pack's business, and only the Alpha needed to be present, so I had put my Beta, Jeremy, in charge.

But they had gotten attacked almost immediately after I left.

I learnt that Dahlia had gotten injured, so she fell unconscious immediately. I didn't know how that happened because I knew she was weak, and she barely took part in any pack training. She enjoyed staying indoors and would never fight, even to defend herself.

I guessed she was targeted- since I wasn't present, whatever was mine would always be a target- and was perhaps forced to defend herself due to the situation.

"Good morning, Alpha." A maid said with a bow.

I grimaced, brushing a hand through my hair as I nodded to respond to the greeting.

I couldn't help but think back to the reason I was stuck with Dahlia in the first place.

I didn't want to get married to her. She was the last I had seen myself with.

But I had no choice. It was an agreement between my pack and her father's pack. Our marriage, as I saw it wasn't a real one, but I couldn't counter it, seeing as we were legally bound.

But I hadn't marked her, and I didn't think I would ever do that.

Dahlia was only interested in being my Luna; she had refused to deal with issues concerning being a Luna and always liked to follow me like a lost puppy.

I loathed it. She was the kind of woman I often avoided. I didn't know how I had gotten entangled with her.

After agreeing to get married to her, I never wanted to see her due to how pitiful she acted to get my attention.

Dalia was pretentious and was as well naive; she wasn't exposed to things in the werewolf world, and somehow, I understood the circumstance because she was only eighteen years old.

But then, many eighteen-year-old werewolves could run a pack and handle a battle.

Dahlia could do none. She was only in my pack as a decoration.

So, when I heard about the attack and her injuries, I assumed she was back to being her pretentious self again because that was what she did best. Until she never woke up the next day, as I thought. And not even the day after.

Today would make it almost a month of her being in bed, and I heard she finally woke up.

I had come to see her immediately, but she had exhibited some strange characteristics. She had called me by someone else name. I wonder if it was a misconception, as she had said, or if she was doing so to spite me.

As I watched her closely, I didn't think she was bluffing. She didn't act like the Dahlia I was used to.

I felt some strange pull towards her. I knew it wasn't real. I didn't like Dahlia. My wolf, Leo, never felt anything for her.

In fact, he loathed her more than I did, and her scent repulsed him.

But somehow, I wasn't repulsed by her scent anymore.

Was I getting sick?

I doubted that. I tried again to get her cover blown because Dahlia couldn't pretend for long. I knew how she behaved even if she tried to.

"Liar! Stop acting pitiful because that can't work on me anymore!" I barked, and she glared at me fiercely.

"You are such a terrible Alpha; if that is how you treat everyone, I feel sorry for whoever comes near you!" She shouted back at me, and I saw her clench her fists.

Startled, I gazed at her. Dahlia would never talk back at me in that manner. She was timid and wanted everything to be done to her.

The woman standing before me was Dahlia, but she seemed different attitude-wise. I didn't know what exactly was different about her.

I stalked towards her and searched her face. As if I was trying to figure out what it was. She was still the pretty face I knew, and nothing else changed, but then, something wasn't right, or maybe it was I thinking wrong.

I left the room to clear my thoughts and ran into my Beta Jeremy.

"Is the Luna doing well?" He asked, walking closely behind me.

"She is," I replied. I hope he wouldn't ask me anything about her further. I didn't want to talk about her, and I guess from my response Jeremy was intelligent enough not to ask any more questions.

The following day came, and I gathered every member of the Werewolves in my pack in the meeting hall to share the latest development with them.

"We were attacked last night, but thanks to the alertness of the guards in the south gate, they were easily defeated, and the rest retreated." I paused, glancing at the awe on each person's face. "It isn't a new thing that we've been getting attacked a lot lately; I'd want everyone to be alert to tackle whatever comes their way and not to be caught off guard."

They each nodded, and one of the guards tilted his hand in the air.

I nodded for him to speak.

"It's thanks to Luna's special tea; whatever she did helped us to stay awake."

Dahlia made tea? It was new to me, seeing as she had never stepped her legs into the kitchen before.

She had even argued about overseeing my meals when I told her, and she told me the maids were capable enough to do that.

It was weird hearing that she had helped the guards.

Again I recalled going back to the room to change my clothing after the attack; she had acted concerned and as if she cared about my feelings. She wanted to know what was happening, but I brushed her off.

It was still weird that she was acting strangely, but I would get to the root soon.

After I dismissed the meeting, I walked towards my Beta, Jeremy, and my gamma, James; he was Jeremy's twin.

"Let's meet in my office. We have a lot of issues to talk about."

They nodded and followed me out of the room.
