Liz’s POV

It was colder outside than I thought it would be. The cold breeze seeped straight into my bones, biting deep until I shook. My body, now old and fragile, betrayed me with every breath, trembling so hard I could barely stand.

The girl who had dragged me out of the cave kept her arm firm around me, steadying me as though she knew I’d collapse without her. Step by step, she guided me through the trees until the night opened around us.

When we finally stopped, she lowered me onto a fallen log. My legs gave way gratefully, and I sank down, pulling in shallow, uneven breaths.

The bark dug into my palms as I steadied myself. My breaths came uneven, every breath burning in my chest.

The girl stood a few feet away, watching where we had come from. I kept my eyes on her; something inside me told me I knew her, but I had never seen her before in my life.

“Who are you?”

For a moment, she only looked at me. Her jaw clenched, her throat worked, and I could see the battle in her eyes. T

  • Alpha's Regret After I Died    Chapter 193

Angelica’s POVIt was exhausting, pretending to be her. Holding my lips in those gentle curves, softening my eyes with that practised warmth. They all drank it in so easily: the desperate brother, the tearful parents, the little friend clinging to hope. Their relief was almost too sweet. They wanted to believe so badly. And belief made them blind. It made me sick to think that someone as delicate as her had come from someone like me.I turned slowly in the room, letting my eyes drag across everything, taking it all in. His room or our room now. She had all this because of me, because I chose not to kill her before she even had the chance to take her first breath. Walking over to the door, I pressed my ear to it, the sound of Arthur's muffled voice on the other side only just reaching my ears. A smile came to my lips. He was smarter than I thought. I saw the suspicion in his eyes the moment he touched me, it was written all over his face. Faking the bond wolves shared was the one t

Arthur’s POV“Come,” I said, taking Liz's hand and guiding her away from everyone. “You should rest.”She nodded, a smile curving her lips, and I guided her through the corridors until we reached our room. The whole time I watched her out of the corner of my eye, something was different about her. The way she looked at everything was like she was seeing it all for the first time. I stopped outside the door before opening it and stepping to the side, letting her step inside first.Liz moved slowly into the room. She looked at it all like a stranger walking into a place she didn’t belong. “You should sleep,” I told her gently. “You’ve been through enough.”She turned back to me, that same careful smile on her lips, and nodded. “Yes… You’re right.”Even the tone of her voice sounded wrong.I forced myself to step back; every inch of me wanted to stay with her, to make sure she was safe, but I couldn't. “I have work to do,” I said. “But I’ll be back soon.”Her eyes followed me. “Of cour

  • Alpha's Regret After I Died    Chapter 191

Liz’s POVWhen I opened my eyes, the cold was gone. I was lying on something softer than stone, wrapped in a blanket that smelled faintly of pine and smoke. My body still ached.I blinked slowly, my vision adjusting to the flicker of firelight. We were in a small cabin. My breath shuddered out as I realised I was safe. Slowly sitting up, I took everything in around me until my eyes landed on the girl who had saved me. Alice smiled faintly. “You’re awake.”“I need to get back to Arthur,” I said, the words spilling out before I could stop them. My voice was hoarse, torn from everything I’d been through, but it carried the only truth that mattered to me, and that was how much I needed to be with Arthur.Alice leaned closer, her eyes softening, her hand resting gently on mine. “You will,” she said firmly. “I promise you will. But not tonight. Right now, you need rest. You’re safe here with us.”My thoughts wouldn’t stop turning, going around and around, replaying every second I was in tha

Liz’s POV“Vincent!” Alice’s voice rang out into the night, sharp and commanding. But there was no answer.Only silence… and the sound of something moving closer through the trees. Each crack of a branch, each crunch of leaves underfoot, made my stomach twist. We were being hunted.I felt sick. I wanted nothing more than to curl into myself, close my eyes, and sleep. Just sleep until it all went away. Pretend like this was nothing more than a bad dream. But Alice spun back toward me, her eyes fierce, her voice urgent. “Come on. We need to get out of here now.”I shook my head weakly, my body sagging against the log. “I… I can’t.” My words slurred, my strength was gone. Alice crouched down, sliding an arm under mine, pulling me to my feet. Pain shot through my legs, trembling so hard I thought they’d buckle beneath me. My old, frail body betrayed me again, every step agony. Tears slide down my cheeks, but I hardly felt them.I clung to her, my wrinkled fingers clutching her arm like

  • Alpha's Regret After I Died    Chapter 188

Liz’s POV“I love you, Arthur.” The words slipped out of me, a broken whisper, my final tether. If this was the last breath I ever drew, I wanted it to be his name on my lips, his memory in my heart. The blade came down.Out of the corner of my eye, something moved fast. I thought it was nothing but a trick of my mind, one last flicker of hope before the end.But then steel clashed against stone, a sound that rang through the chamber like lightning splitting the earth. Silas was ripped away from me, his snarl cutting through the air as he slammed against the wall with such force the altar shook.I fell forward, my wrinkled hands scraping the cold floor, gasping for air I hadn’t realised I was holding. My heart hammered so violently I thought it might burst through my chest. This wasn’t a dream. This wasn’t my mind playing tricks.Someone was here.Silas staggered back to his feet, fury twisting his face. His blade rattled in his grip, his black eyes scanning the shadows. “Who dares?”
