Liz’s POV

My eyes swept the crowd for what had to be the hundredth time.

Nothing.

No face stood out. No eyes pierced through me. No cruel smirk to shatter the calm.

Just strangers.

Row after row of strangers.

My heart was pounding, my hands clammy as I clutched the edge of the platform beside Arthur. The pack was gathered. Quiet. Watchful. Their Alpha standing beside us, proud and sure.

But none of them were him.

“They’re not here,” I whispered, the words bitter and hopeless as they left my mouth.

Arthur didn’t hesitate. He turned sharply to the Blood Rose Alpha, his voice low and razor-sharp.

“Someone’s missing.”

The Alpha blinked, caught off guard. “No, Alpha King. I promise. Everyone is accounted for.”

Arthur’s jaw ticked.

The tension rolling off him was enough to make the air snap with pressure. I could feel his rage rising, dangerous, precise. He was seconds from grabbing the man by the throat, demanding the truth with force, not words.

But then—

Something shifted.

  • Alpha's Regret After I Died    Chapter 96

Arthur’s POV“I’m sorry,” he whispered, already shaking. “She tricked me. I swear she said Liz was dangerous. She said”“I don’t care,” I snapped. His lips trembled, eyes bloodshot, words fumbling over themselves as he tried to explain. “She said Liz would hurt her. That Liz had threatened her before. I didn’t know she just… she said if I loved her, I’d protect her.”He was crying now, sniffling, shaking like some pathetic little thing.“I didn’t know it would go that far. I thought I was just supposed to scare her.”“Enough.”I slammed my fist into the table. The sound cracked through the room like thunder.Gabe flinched hard, shrinking into himself.“There are no amount of sorrys that will bring back the lives that you took,” I said coldly, leaning over the table just enough to make sure he saw the weight of what he’d done. “Not Liz. Not the child she carried.”Gabe’s mouth opened, eyes wide. “I only killed one. I swear”“No.” My voice was sharp enough to silence the air. “You didn’t

Lumian’s POVThe light in the corridor burned far too bright. My head throbbed with each step, a dull, angry pulse right behind my eyes. The aftertaste of whiskey clung to the back of my throat, sour and stale. I hadn’t meant to drink that much last night, but what else was there to do? The silence of my office had pressed in from all sides, and I needed something to drown out the weight of everything I hadn’t said. Everything I hadn’t done.My feet dragged across the stone floors of the pack house, boots heavy. I passed a pair of maids near the east wing corridor. They were talking low, their backs to me. I might’ve ignored them until I heard her name.“…Alpha King Arthur solved Luna Liz’s murder…”I stopped walking. The words sliced through the fog of my hangover like a blade. The maids didn’t notice me yet, still too caught up in their gossip.“Apparently, the guy that did it is just some weak omega.”“I still can’t believe it was in on it, Judy,” one of them said. “She always see

Liz’s POVWhen we reached Arthur's room, he opened the door for me, but I barely noticed. My eyes caught on nothing. My hands trembled even though I wasn’t cold. The moment we stepped inside, Arthur said something. I heard his voice, the low rumble of it, but the words didn’t make it through.I was somewhere else.Somewhere between now and before. I had thought that finally getting the truth would lift the weight I had been carrying on my shoulders since the moment I came back as a ghost, but it hadn't. My mind was still a tangled mess of questions I feared I would never get the answers to. “—Liz?”I blinked, turning to him.“Sorry, what was that?”Arthur stood by the door, watching me. Worry etched on every inch of his face.“I was just saying,” he repeated gently, “that I’m going to question Gabe again. If you’d like to come.”I turned away from him, looking out the window, the glass fogged faintly at the corners from the cold outside. My eyes drifted to the garden beyond.“No,” I

Robert’s POV “Get your hands off me! You’re all fools! I’ll kill you! I’ll kill every last one of you—” Her screams bounced off the dungeon walls, followed by the heavy thud of boots and the drag of chains.I stood frozen, the sound of her voice cracking something inside me.Judy.For so long, that voice had meant something to me. Power. Loyalty. Family. Now it sounded like poison.I didn’t move as the guards dragged her past the hallway outside the cells. Her hair was a mess of snarled curls, her robe torn at the shoulder, eyes burning with something feral. Unhinged. She looked nothing like the woman I had once stood beside, defended, protected with my own damn life. When her eyes met mine, there was a flicker of something I couldn’t name. Not remorse. Not guilt. Something uglier.“Robert,” she gasped as the guards dragged her past. “Please—help me.”Her voice cracked now, no longer a weapon but a plea. Desperate. Panicked. She reached for me with bloodied fingers like I was her l

Liz’s POVJudy stood so fast the chair behind her screeched, her face twisted in disbelief and rage.“He’s lying!” she shrieked, pointing at Gabe like he was the monster in the room and not her. “You’re all letting him lie!”Her voice rang out, high and cracked.Arthur didn’t even flinch.“Sit. Down,” he barked, his voice suddenly thunder. The room stilled.Judy froze, her eyes darting around as if looking for someone, anyone, to back her. But there was no one left. Her web had torn. Her mask had shattered. She turned to Arthur, lifting her chin. “It’s my word against his.”Arthur laughed. It was sharp. Humourless.“No, Judy,” he said, stepping forward. “It’s not.”His voice dropped, low and cold, each syllable cutting clean.“Because we gathered everything we need to put this on you. Witnesses. Pack records. Phone logs. Security footage. And Gabe’s testimony.”He let that sink in.Then he tilted his head, gaze boring into her.“Did you really think I—the Alpha King would be as carel

Gabe’s POVI woke up with the taste of blood in my mouth. It was metallic and bitter, sticking to the back of my throat like regret. My vision swam as I blinked, the world tilting sideways before it snapped back into place. I was lying on a bed I didn’t recognise, in a room that smelled like antiseptic and stone. And someone was watching me.A man stood by the door, arms crossed, eyes sharp. There was something cold and heavy in his expression, something that made my heart start to pound before I even sat up.“What… what happened?” I croaked, wiping at my mouth with the back of my hand. The man didn’t blink. “That sweetheart of yours,” he said, voice like ice, “showed her true colours.”My gut twisted. “What are you talking about?” I sat up straighter, searching the room, trying to make sense of any of this. “Judy wouldn’t— She loves me.”He snorted. Actually snorted. Then threw a bundle of clothes at me.“Get dressed,” he said. “We’re leaving soon.”I didn’t catch the clothes. They
