Olivia’s PoV.

The next morning, I woke up first. Damian was still holding me in his arms. Unable to push him, I stare into space at the first rays of light drifting through the curtains. Then I felt him stirring. I did not want to talk to him, so I pretended to be asleep. He had shattered all my expectations and there was truly nothing left to talk about between us anymore.

My heart pounded, but I kept my breathing steady until I heard the shower running.

Damian quietly left the room after showering, still thinking I was asleep. Only then did I breathe out and get up. My heart ached. My chest fell hollow. I tried to reach Vanilla again, to no avail. She was truly gone. The hollow void in my chest felt even bigger now. I’ll figure it out Vanilla. I will. I held to that frail hope.

It took me tremendous effort to shower and change. It was also an ordeal to get dressed, but I managed without help. I still wanted to hold to that bit of dignity I had left, now that Damian has taken everything from me. I decided to go downstairs to eat. If not for me, for my child. Walking down the stairs was agonizing and it took me longer than I anticipated. My brow was sweaty when I finally made it downstairs.

“Luna your breakfast.” One of the omegas placed the trade on the table and left as quickly as she had come. They all pity me and did not know how to act around me.

Eggs, bread, and bacon, which once would have made my mouth water, now tasted rubbery. I forced myself to eat. I placed a hand on my stomach and endured it for the baby. We will get through this; your father will not destroy us.

After I was done eating, I made sure Damian wasn’t around before calling my brother. I needed to plan my escape before Damian found out I was pregnant.

I took my phone from where I left it and called my brother’s number. We talked at least once a month just to check in. But his phone rang and rang without luck.

My chest tightened. My hands trembled. When I was hesitant about whether I should try again now. Suddenly, a voice interrupted my spiraling thoughts.

“I will let the Luna know.”

“You don’t need to announce me.” An entitled voice drifted from the hallway as a maid entered nervously and informed me that I had a visitor.

A visitor?

Vivian let herself in as if she owned the place. She looked radiant.

She was completely recovered. Gone was the grieving widow, giving way to her usually flagrant personality. But the reason for her glow was not only the pregnancy; it was also my very essence running through her, fueling her body and spirit. Honestly, Vivian was one of the most beautiful she-wolves I've ever seen. Men would bow down at her feet and offer her their most precious treasures. But her personality is sharp, like a rose with thorns. In the past three years of our interactions, the only person I knew who could tolerate Vivian's temper was her mate, Alpha Levi. But then Levi had been a saint, among us.

“Well, well Luna Olivia. Don’t you look dreadful?” She said with a smirk. She gave me a once-over, and then she started to look around the house as if checking the décor, scrunching her face when she saw something she didn’t like. She checked for dust with her fingertips on the furniture. She always felt the need to prove her worth around me, always measuring herself against me. She must feel triumphant to see me like this.

“What do you want Vivian?” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

“I’m simply paying a visit.” She said wiping her hands, without looking at me.

“I’m not in the mood for visits.” I really wasn’t. In fact, I could never stand on my feet at this moment.

“You’d better get used to me, dear Olivia.” A sly smile crept across her face. “Because very soon, I’ll be the new Luna of Red River Pack. Once I marry Damian, of course.”

The words struck like lightning. My pulse thumping in my ears. “Come again? Are you even serious right now? You’re his sister-in-law. And he’s married to me. How could you possibly marry Damian?” My voice shook with disbelief.

I was utterly confused.

Vivian looked at me with pity.

“You arrived just three years ago that’s why you don’t know, but before I married Levi, I was Damian’s girlfriend.” She smirked.

That revelation shocked me. Indeed, I never knew much about Damian’s past, but I never would’ve thought about this.

I felt sick.

Could this be why? Could this be the real reason he had sacrificed me? Not loyalty to his brother. Not guilt. But love. Love he had never let go of.

“I know what you are thinking, Olivia, and yes, yes to everything you are thinking. Damian chose me the minute my mate was gone.” Her words mocked me; her presence was boastful.

The room spun. My stomach plummeted, bile rising in my throat. My heart shattered all over again.

Vivian’s smile widened as if she could really read my thoughts. “Something to think about, isn’t it?” She let out a light laugh, the sound cruel and mocking, and left me alone, nailed to the ground.

I pressed a trembling hand to my stomach, tears burning my eyes. For my baby’s sake, I couldn’t crumble now. But the truth was undeniable. My mate had not only betrayed me—he had chosen her. I can’t stay here. They will not only destroy me, but my child as well. Who’s to say her child is not Damian’s? I need to run far away from them and protect my pup, but I will come back and when I do, they will regret it.

Olivia’s PoV Vivian was almost hyperventilating when she planted herself between the Delta warrior and Ashley, who looked at Vivian weakly. Damian growled, angrily. “Stay away from this Vivian! This doesn’t concern you. Derek, take my brother’s wife back to her place.” Damian ordered the other Delta warrior as he waved Vivian dismissively, but Vivian was not one to back down easily. She approached Damian with a pleading look. “Damian, whatever she did, forgive her please. Do it for me. She has been very helpful to me during this time.” She gave Damian a meaningful look as she rubbed her slightly grown stomach. Damian seemed to realize something and ordered the Delta to stop. “Take that eye sore to the pack’s hospital.” He growled not even bothering to look at the broken Ashley. I let out a breath of relief when the Delta carried her out of the dungeons. Thankfully Vivian arrived on time. I can’t believe I’m thankful that my husband’s ex-girlfriend managed to stop the punishm

Olivia’s PoV Damian’s face turned cold as he gave Ashley a menacing glare. Ashley stood there acting like a pathetic weakling. She was such a good actress; if I hadn’t seen her true colors before, I would have pitied her. “Your Luna asked you a question, woman. Answer her!!” Damian ordered her. He stood there radiating Alpha dominance. Ashley immediately cowered. I truly believe she fears him somehow. She looked at me but quickly lowered her head, as she spoke in a humble tone. “Luna… I was tidying up the sofa earlier and one must have fallen on accident. It won’t happen again.” She stammered and looked at me once again to see if I believed her lies. “Is this what you call tidying up?” I scoffed as I pulled a pair of purple panties from behind the cushion holding it up with a pen and dropping them on the floor quickly, feeling my guts revolt. It was when I came back downstairs again that I found the offending garment sticking out from under the couch. They did it here, in m

. Damian's PoV Contrary to my better judgment, when Olivia asked me to bring Ashley with me, I didn’t hesitate. I’ve been driving myself up the walls unable to touch Olivia. I need to quench my desires somehow and she handed me the best opportunity. Ashley was straddling me on the floor, when I remembered to check the time. “Fuck!” I looked at my watch pushing Ashley away. It’s almost six, Olivia must be on her way by now. “Alpha, what happened?” A startled Ashley asked as she picked her clothes from the floor. “Why didn’t you remind me of the time?” I said icily. “I… I lost track of time too.” She said meekly as she blushed. I did not miss the small smug look on her face, even if it was fleeting. I gave her a cold glare. “Don’t ever think this is more than a convenient fuck, witch. You’re easy and available as well as good at what you do. Once my Luna recovers from the curse, you will go back to getting scraps.” She nodded, lowering her head. “Yes, Alpha.” She

Olivia’s PoV It didn’t take long for Damian to leave. This gathering is not his usual idea of fun. I was sitting alone as Katherine and Mrs. Agatha were still bringing out food from the kitchen. “Olivia, I have something important to deal with. It’s time to go back.” My eyes snapped onto him. I didn’t want to leave so soon. “Damian, I want to stay a little longer. Let Katherine drive me back home.” I asked gently. “And take Ashley with you. I don’t need her.” Damian turned to look at Ashley who was standing expectantly not far from him. She had been looking uneasy after the dog incident. Damian’s eyes lingered a little too long on Ashley and to my surprise, he agreed to both things. “Fine, Katherine can drive you back. Don’t stay for long.” Damian said as he kissed my hand. “I will be home by six. Thank you, Damian.” He nodded and turned to leave. Ashley walked hurriedly behind him looking nervously at her surroundings. She walked fast until she was very close to Damian.

Olivia’s PoV Three days later. These past few days. Everything has been fine. I have been resting at home, and I’m glad that, aside from feeling weak, I haven't experienced any pain. At least not physical, but every time I remember Vanilla, the void in my chest still suffocates me. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to her absence. Damian has been hovering over me like a mother hen. He got scared from the last time I got admitted to the hospital. He knows that if something happens to me, it would be the end of Vivian’s pup. I put a protective hand on my stomach. My own pup is at risk, too, and he is my only priority. I don’t wish anything bad for Vivian’s child, but why is he more important to Damian than his own child? Damian entered then with a plate of fruit. I was sitting on the balcony soaking in the sun rays. Watching the pack members going on about their lives like any other Tuesday. Whereas I lived in constant worry that Damian would discover I was pregnant and make m

Ashley's PoV I slipped out of Damian’s office like a shadow. I learned to become one when I was a slave in the black market. I had been whipped countless times just for simply existing, so I always tried to blend in, to become a shadow until it was engraved in my bones. Anything but being whipped, I hated it. My body shivered just thinking about it. I had resigned to that miserable life, where pain and hunger were my daily constant. Until he came. My Damian, my savior. When he bought me, he gave me a place to stay, and he made me feel needed and cared for. He made me feel alive again. He says my whole purpose is to serve him but it’s not a job when I love doing that for him. The only obstacle to my complete happiness is Olivia. I had stepped on their wedding portrait on my way out, the one Damian threw earlier in a fit of rage, and it shattered. I giggled. I hate how Damian always defends that woman. He always belittles me for her. The sooner she gets out of the picture the
