Her scent had started to fade. The more Edge neared the woman, the more scents of other wolves increased.

In the distance, there was sound of several paws trampling the forest floor

She was not alone. There were rogues surrounding her. And she was whimpering.

Wrath taking over his senses, he burst through the trees while changing into his large dark wolf. His sharp golden eyes took barely a second to roam through the sight. The girl was sitting bunched up in the middle of a clearing, her hands covering her head as her body shook with tremors.

She was surrounded by four rogues that were barely half the size of his wolf. The moment he made an appearance, her head shot up and her glassy eyes met his.

A pang of pain shot through his heart. The sight of her being vulnerable… he hadn’t thought it would affect him this severely.
