INICIAR SESIÓN“Don’t ask me too many questions.” His expression became sharp. “Would you rather stay here and get punished or come with me?” He asked, training a hard look on me. After weighing my options, I knew that I had no choice but to leave with him. “I don’t want to stay here, but I can’t leave without getting answers.” Sean sighed, dragging a hand through his blonde hair. “Fine.” He responded reluctantly. “What do you want to know?” I had a lot of questions. ~•~ Zoey's life is turned upside down when she's falsely accused of murder and abandoned by her mate. Zoey Malik ~•~ “No, no.” My heart was pounding in my chest as I tried to resuscitate him back to life. My clothes were already stained with his blood. “Please, open your eyes.” I continued to beg, even though he couldn’t hear me. Soon enough, I heard voices and footsteps coming from outside. “Help! The Beta is dying!” I screamed as I continued to apply pressure with the torn fabric from my blouse on the wound in his chest. The door creaked open and I froze as I saw what felt like the entire pack standing in front of me. Before I could say anything, someone from the crowd pointed at me and shouted. “Zoey killed him. She killed him.” My eyes widened in shock. No, I didn’t kill him. I was asked to deliver something to him. I found him injured. I shook my head. “No, I didn’t kill him.” My voice trembled as I tried to defend myself.“I was calling for help, but I didn’t want to leave him here.” But the crowd didn’t care. My voice was overshadowed by the angry accusations. No one wanted to hear the truth. They had already made up their minds. A group of men were already walking toward me. As I realized what was happening, I let go of his wounds and stood up. “What are you doing?” I asked, taking a step back. Some of the men checked his pulse, while the others held me. “I am the Luna! You can’t do this to me. It’s all a big misunderstanding.” The desperation in my voice was palpable. “Where’s Conrad? You can’t take me away.” My chest was filled with terror because I already knew what the punishment for murder was. I couldn’t pay for a crime that I didn’t commit. Before anybody could say anything, Conrad walked into the room. The entire pack went silent. I felt a little bit relieved to see that my mate was there to save me. I looked up at him, my eyes burning with unshed tears. “Talk to them, Conny. Tell them that I’m not a murderer.” My voice echoed through the silent room. Conrad’s eyes raked over me from head to toe. He didn’t utter a word until Wendy walked inside the room. “I told you she was planning to kill him, didn’t I?” Wendy said as she interlocked her fingers with Conrad. Why were they holding hands? He was my mate, not hers! But then, my chest tightened when I processed what was happening. Wendy was trying to frame me. I didn’t kill the beta and I never planned on killing him. Why was she accusing me wrongly? “She’s lying! I didn’t kill him.” I continued in a slightly cracked voice. My head was spinning and I couldn’t understand why Wendy would want to frame me. Alpha Conrad finally cleared his throat and began. “Release her, and the rest of you should leave.” I let out a relieved breath I had no idea I had been holding. “But trust, she will get the punishment that she deserves.” He added when he noticed that the crowd murmured, expressing their displeasure. My heart dropped. What punishment? I didn’t do anything. After the crowd disappeared, I was left alone in the room with Conrad and Wendy. Wendy clung to his hands like her life depended on it. “Conny, you can’t believe her. I wouldn’t hurt anybody.” Conrad scoffed bitterly. “Don’t call me that. It’s Conrad.” My lips parted in disbelief. “What? Do you believe her?” Of course, what was I thinking? He would obviously believe his first love over me. The same person he had cheated with countless times. But I couldn’t even leave him because I had nowhere else to go. I didn’t have parents. Or siblings. I didn’t even have many friends. Selena was the only one I had. And her family couldn’t afford to take me in. I had to stay with Conrad even though he treated me badly. Wendy made it clear that she hadn’t liked me ever since Conrad and I discovered that we were mates. She continued to make my life miserable in ways both loud and subtle. And now, a murder accusation? This was the cruelest thing she had done yet. I would have preferred if she continued sleeping with my mate, instead of framing me for murder. I stared at both of them, still trying to process what was happening. “I didn’t kill him, you have to believe me.” Conrad exhaled deeply. “You know he was my best friend, right?” He raised a brow at me, his voice low. “You fucking killed my best friend.” “No, no, no.” I shook my head, the tears I had been struggling to hold back finally started flowing freely. “I didn’t kill him.” He looked at me like I was filth. “So why are your clothes soaked with his blood?” “I was trying to save him. I came here and saw him lying in his pool of blood. I had no idea who did this to him.” Wendy laughed as I explained. “I told you exactly what she would say, right?” She turned to Conrad. “Don’t let her fake tears and explanations deceive you.” Conrad nodded and Wendy leaned in for a kiss. I didn’t expect him to kiss her in front of me. But he did, slow and deep. My stomach twisted in agony. It was the same pain I always felt whenever he cheated on me with her. As werewolves, when one partner cheats, the other one is left in pain during the whole process. They knew how much pain it caused me, but they still continued. “Stop!” I screamed when it became too suffocating. But they didn’t listen to me, they continued until they were satisfied. Then Conrad looked at me, his eyes filled with hate and anger. “You can deny all you want, but everybody already saw you. And there’s no way you can escape your punishment.” He said spitefully, causing me to look at him in shock. “Conrad, you know me so well. I can’t hurt anybody.” My jaw trembled. “I’m your mate, Conrad.” “You were just a pity mate.” He said. “The moon goddess made a mistake.”EPILOGUE Zoey Malik ~•~ TWO YEARS LATER A lot can change in two years. Or maybe… everything can. I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the sleeve of my dress, my reflection staring back at me. My hand moved absentmindedly to my stomach, resting there for a second longer than necessary. My lips curled into a small smile. That alone was enough proof that everything had changed. The pain, heartbreak, and betrayal didn’t disappear, but I didn’t let it control me anymore. A soft knock came at the door, dragging me out from my thoughts. “Zoey?” I turned slightly at the familiar voice. “I’ll be out in a minute,” I replied. It was the day of my mating ceremony. Conrad and I were officially renewing our vows and the mate bond that once broke between us. Yes, I also found it so crazy and unreal that I was giving him a second chance. But over the years, he had proven himself to me. He spent the last two years carefully piecing back my trust th
Chapter 111 Zoey Malik ~•~ For a second, he just stared at me, like he’d been caught doing something he could never explain his way out of. “Who told you?” Was that what he was concerned about? My chest felt tight. Too tight. I couldn’t breathe properly. Everything was happening so fast, and I was barely holding myself together. “Just answer the question,” I replied, my voice weak. I was exhausted. I just needed to know why he brought me to his house after what he made my parents go through. I was just a kid. He took them away from me. I wanted to know why he did it, and most importantly, why he brought me into his home. Sean didn’t respond immediately. I could see a flicker of guilt flash across his face. He scratched the back of his head. “Zoey…” his words trailed off. He probably didn’t know what to say to me. I blinked back my tears. “Just tell me the truth, Sean,” I replied weakly. “I’ve already found out the whole truth. Just help me
Chapter 110 Zoey Malik ~•~ “I think you should call Conrad.” “I think I am about to have a panic attack.” Selena and I tried our best to push open the door. But it was locked. I banged on the door several times, but it was impossible to break. I should’ve known better. The moment I told Sean I was leaving and he just… walked away, I should’ve known something was wrong. My chest tightened as the realization settled in. He had a smart home and he had locked the door through his phone. My jaw clenched hard enough to hurt, anger bubbling beneath my skin. But there was nothing I could do about it. I was trapped. “Follow me to my room,” I muttered. Selena trailed behind me while I walked to the room. When we got inside, I locked the door. I pulled out my phone. “Maybe I should call Conrad.” Even though I hated him, he was the only person I knew who could help me. Selena also needed to get back home. “Yeah, you should.” She nodded in agreement.
Chapter 109 Sean Bradford ~•~ A part of me wanted to tell Zoey the truth. But even though I tried, I couldn’t. I couldn’t just throw all my months of hard work down the drain. I wanted to know how she found out about my mom's death. I felt really terrible, but the deed had already been done. Zoey looked at me with so much disappointment, but I just couldn’t be honest with her. I had no idea what came into me, but I grabbed her tighter even when she screamed and struggled to get away from my grip. I didn’t want her to go. I still needed her. That was the only way I could get Elara back. “Let go of me, Sean!” She continued, trying to catch her breath. Her friend was also trying to pull her. But I didn’t let go. I couldn’t. “Tell me how you found out about my mom before I can let you go,” I finally said even though I didn’t mean it. No matter what happened, I wasn’t going to let Zoey go. She signed a contract and she had to live up to it. “I saw
Chapter 104 Zoey Malik ~•~ “Why did you stop?” Selena asked, confused. “And why are you staring at the lady like she’s a ghost that just came back to life?” “S—she… she’s meant to… u—uhm,” I stuttered as I tried to come up with a response. I couldn’t believe that I was seeing her standi
Chapter 102 Conrad Stone ~•~ “Someone is here to see you,” one of the workers at the house told me as soon as I got downstairs. I lifted a brow. “Who?” “I don’t know, but he said it’s urgent.” The last time I got an uninvited visitor, it turned out to be Sean and I didn’t like the
Chapter 94 Zoey Malik ~•~ Wendy’s scream echoed in my head continuously as I tried to sleep. Even as I closed my eyes, I kept seeing her terrified face. I shouldn’t have watched them do that to her. My fingers curled into the sheets as I squeezed my eyes shut tighter, like that alone
Chapter 108 Zoey Malik ~•~ Selena held my hand. I took a few deep breaths to calm myself. “Your mother is dead?” I asked, trying to clarify further. He nodded. “Yes.” There was a hint of guilt in his eyes. “Okay,” I whispered. “So who was that woman? The one we went to visit th
