Chapter 1

Secret Crush

They were my best friends, I grew up with them and we did absolutely everything together. The three of us were inseparable, I loved them… I really did. If someone were to have told me 5 years ago that I would be living the life I am now, a life without them… I would have laughed in their faces.

They were the only people in my life that I could trust, the only people that I knew that I could always count on. The two of them knew everything about me and I knew absolutely everything about them. We were inseparable, we always were. I confided in them, I came to them with my secrets, my thoughts , my desires and my insecurities.

They always knew how to comfort me, uplift me or just be there for me in the ways that I needed. I swear, to this day I’ve still never met anyone quite like them. They were angels. They were my angels.

But then one day Justin snapped.

He became evil, dark and absolutely insane. I don’t know what happened to him, or why he changed and decided to become the person that he is today. I tried everything in my power to make him stop, to save him from damnation but it only seemed to make it worse. I thought that one day he would change for the better, that one day he would go back to being the person that I always knew him as. But he never stopped, he never listened and he didn’t care about anything that I had to say anymore.

I became insignificant

I became a burden

I became a liability

And of course Dylan followed in his footsteps, becoming a dark and corrupted soul as well. I don’t know why, or how this happened. What changed? Why would two people with such great lives and promising futures throw everything that they have away? Why would they risk their lives by taking others over and over again? What do they gain from creating such chaos?? What do they gain by murdering others? By ruining lives? By destroying families? Why would anyone ever be okay living in such a manner?

Is it the adrenaline rush? Is that what they’re after?

Do they find ecstasy in watching their victim take their last breath?

Is it an addiction?

Are they addicted to the lifestyle of being on the run?

Is it the excitement of being seen by everyone, yet found by no one?

Will they ever see their way back to the light?

I don’t know what has happened to them, or why this happened to them but I do know that their extremely far gone; probably beyond saving by now.

The two of them have killed more people than I can count. The cops want them more than anyone else in the entire state. They’re wanted fugitives for all of their terrible transgressions. But the only problem is...I'm the only one who knows what they looks like.

Nikki POV It was the night of the blood moon and my friends and I had decided to go to the clearing to see the moon at its peak. At least, that's what I said was the reason to go to the clearing on the hillside. Usually only those 18 and older go to the clearing to find their mates under the blood moon. Nikki POV As we took off down the wooded hillside my heart was pounding and I was trying to think of how to get someplace safe.
