I stormed into the council chamber, my anger and frustration barely contained. The council members looked up at me, their faces a mix of angered and disappointment.

"Liam, we've been expecting you," one of them said, their voice firm. "We've heard about your refusal to mate with Mendy."

"Yes, I refuse to be forced into a mating I don't want," I said, my voice sharp.

The council members exchanged glances, their expressions unyielding. "Liam, you've made your bed, now lie in it," one of them said. "You slept with Mendy, you bonded with her. You can't just reject her now."

I felt a surge of anger at their words. "That was a mistake, a moment of weakness. It doesn't mean I'm bound to her for life." I reject my eyes staring at a spot with rage.

"You should have thought of that before you acted, Liam. Now, you've committed to her, and you need to see it through." one of the council members shook his head.

I realized, with a sinking feeling, that the council was not
