Chapter 5

last update publish date: 2026-05-01 06:14:33

Adriana was clad in a red and yellow waitress outfit, deep in thought as she stared outside the window from the back of the serving counter. She really didn't have much going on, Piper was right. Adriana clutched her stomach as she suddenly felt nauseous, was it something she ate? It stopped for a minute and came back, she quickly went through the back door, dashing for the toilet. She knudged the toilet door open and went straight for the toilet as she bent over, vomiting her soul out. She kept vomiting, it was like she couldn't stop.

She sat on the floor of the staff toilet as she breathed heavily. She had only had a plate of cinnamon toast crunch that morning, and it's barely noon. She stood up, rinsed her mouth and face and straightened her clothes. She was going to ask for the rest of the day off.

Adriana arrived home 40 minutes later. She had to beg her boss to let her off for her remaining hours. She had called Celine to inform her of her weird morning sickness, with the intention of going home to rest. But Celine basically threatened her into going to the pharmacy instead. ‘Just in case’ she had said.

So on her way home, she had stopped at the pharmacy to get a few pregnancy test kits. Even though she was positive she wasn't pregnant. It was just to make sure. Yes just to make sure. She went into the kitchen and grabbed an apple, as she strolled into her room. After taking off her shoes, she laid on her back munching on the apple.

She heaved a sigh and got up as she headed for the toilet, she unwrapped the pregnancy test slowly and sat on the toilet seat. She peed on it and then waited for a few minutes. She was scared and calm at the same time. She couldn’t be pregnant. She raised it up to her face slowly. Two colored strips.

Laughter. She laughed and tried again.

And again.

And again.

She suddenly couldn't breathe. Must be some kind of mistake so she tried again. Two strips again. Adriana felt like she was going to have a panic attack. She couldn't be pregnant, it's been two months and then some, since her one night stand with Niklaus.

“ Oh! Fuck me!”

Adriana threw all the used pregnancy tests into the little dustbin that sat in a corner. She felt like going to the clinic for a proper test would be the best solution. So she walked quickly out of her room heading to the living room. Piper was back from work.

"You're home early." Piper said.

" Piper, I really need to borrow your car, I won't crash it or anything, okay?"

" What's wrong Addie?" Piper asked, genuinely concerned this time. She can be a sweetheart when she decides to be.

" Nothing really, just something with Celine." Adriana lied as Piper folded her arms, not convinced in the slightest.

" You look so freaking pale." Piper said slowly, as she felt Adriana’s forehead with her palm.

" Here." She said, handing her a bottle of water and her car keys.

" Thanks Piper."

" Don't crash the damn car." Piper called out to Adriana as she headed for her car. Adriana ignited the car, gripping the steering wheel tightly as she jerked the car forward making her heart skip a beat. She breathed in and out slowly as she tried calming herself , she really wasn't trying to crash Piper's car. She gripped the steering wheel again and backed out of the driveway into the Streets successfully.

She arrived at the 24 hour clinic around the corner in no time. Leaving her bag and phone in the car, she got out, closed the door and headed for the entrance to the clinic.

" Hi. I'd like to take a pregnancy test."

" Okay. I'll fix you up soon. Fill your details here and have your seat. "

The nurse at the reception replied as she gave Adriana a paper and a pen, then went into another room. Adriana filled the form and placed it on the counter. She proceeded to have her seat in one of the chairs. She wasn't calm. She clasped her hands in between her thighs to stop them from shaking. It didn’t work.

" Miss Adriana Sherman. You can go in." The nurse from earlier said. Adriana stood up and headed the direction the nurse had pointed to. She knocked softly, then went in. It looked like a lab. The doctor asked a few questions and proceeded with the test. It didn't take long.

"The result would be out in 30 minutes to 1 hour. Would you like to wait for it or have it mailed?" The doctor asked, taking her gloves off.

" Mailing it would be fine. In an hour, yes?" Adriana asked nervously to make sure. The doctor nodded in response. Adriana didn't waste any time in getting out of there. She hated clinics and hospitals, she had spent so much time in hospitals when her mom got sick.

Adriana got in the car and headed back home. She headed straight for her room. She wasn't going to jump into conclusions so soon, maybe something was off somewhere. Maybe that's why all the pregnancy test results came back positive. She tried to reassure herself.

In no time, an hour had passed. Adriana had been on edge since she got home. So on edge that she fell asleep.

It was dark out by the time she was awake. Shit. She immediately checked her mail. Nothing.

"Adriana!"

Adriana lazily got out of bed. Unlike Adriana, Celine was actually a successful writer on her way to working for the New York Times, so she had gone for a writer's retreat in California. She has been all alone, she couldn't even tell anyone what was going on right now.

" That's a first. You have a mail Addie."

What? I haven't gotten any actual physical mail since… well since they stopped being a thing.

“ I’m just as shocked as you.”

Piper handed the sealed envelope to Addie as she placed her right hand on her hip, waiting for Adriana to open the envelope. The worst thought had just crossed her mind.

Did the hospital mean mail as in actual mail in a mailbox? Oh God!

Adriana panted as she closed the door to her room and leaned heavily against it. When that didn’t seem to calm her down, she started to pace back and forth before finally settling down on her bed, her mind racing on what to do next. It didn’t seem to dawn on her yet that she had a whole life growing inside her. A life put in her by a potential killer. She recoils at the mere thought. Adriana cautiously looks down at her belly as if the baby would disappear if she moved the wrong way or tilted her body the wrong way. She wraps both arms gently over her stomach like some sort of signal to her eyes, before she starts to cry uncontrollably. What was she going to do? She could not get an abortion. No. Piper and her made a promise to their late mom, when they were younger. It was sort of an inside joke between all three of them, but still, Adriana felt like it was the least she could do to appease her dead mom for turning out the way she did. Keep a joking promise. Run away. That was it.

Adriana suddenly felt claustrophobic, as almost visible beads of sweat started to form around her hairline. She could not let Piper see this. "What?" Addie asked when she saw Piper staring at her with her left brow arched in anticipation." Well go on, open it. I wanna know what it is. You haven't gotten any mail in a while, whatever's in there must be pretty important." Piper said cheerfully, like finding out if you're pregnant or not , when you have no boyfriend or fiance or even a good paying job, was the best thing that could ever happen to anyone."Trust me, it's not important." Adriana said, before heading to her room. She got in and locked the door. She sat on her bed, she was so nervous her palms had become sweaty. She wiped them on her jeans as she wiggled her hands." Come on Adriana, just open it, you took the morning after pill, you cannot be pregnant." She slowly reassured herself out loud. She unwrapped the envelope quickly, before she would change her mind. Now holdi

  • Alpha's Regrets.   CHAPTER 4

They had a one-night stand. They had many one night stands in one night. Adriana tossed in the soft mattress, wrapping herself up more into the silk black, sheets. Original. She flapped her arms on the opposite side of the bed, searching for the chiseled body of her one-night stand. Her palm met with nothing. Adriana rose slowly and looked over to the opposite side. Niklaus had left. Of course, he did. She sighed, palming her forehead, she could feel the thumping of her heart through there. She has a bad headache, probably from all the drinking she did last night. Adriana looked around, slowly searching for her clothes with her eyes. Niklaus t-shirt to be precise. She spotted it a few feet away from the bed. She walked over, she was so sore that it hurt when she bent down. "Ooh ow!" She reached for the T-shirt anyway. She sighed again. Celine. She suddenly remembered. Her phone. She remembered again. She quickly headed towards the door, pulled it open, and turned to take a quick

20 minutes later, they arrived at an electric gate. The driver ordered the gate to be opened, and then he drove in. Voice activated, not surprised. Niklaus could see the awe all over her face. The car door opened automatically and Adriana got out. She didn't even know it could do that. It’s a Rolls Royce. Of course it does that. The house had to be about 10,000 square feet. It looked original and old, but elegant and fancy. It looked like something that has been passed down over the years but had also been refurbished over the years. It was a combination of sky blue and spotless white, with subtle hints of gold. It looked so beautiful. Every part of this mansion was illuminated. It looked like a palace from a fairytale. It was so beautiful. You could easily think a king of high royalty resided here. Adriana didn't even know a house like this existed in the whole of New York City. The glass windows around the mansion were large enough to welcome any ray of sunshine, and high enough

You don't look so good." The voice said, handing Adriana her phone. She grabbed it harshly and shoved it back into her purse. "I'm fine." She replied hastily. She took a glance at him, his outfit to be precise. He looked so uptight and so corporate. She took one more glance at him. Well, his outfit. He was so much taller than her and she was too lazy or too drunk to look up at him. She felt that same weird energy she had felt earlier coming from him, hitting her so hard. She quickly walked away staggering, heading for the entrance to the bar. She headed towards where Celine had parked her car earlier, or where she remembered Celine parking the car because it was no longer there. " What the fuck?" She swore loudly, sucking her teeth harshly. How was she going to get home? She didn't have any money. She assumed Celine would drive her back home the way she picked her up. She thought about calling Celine, so she reached for her phone. Her battery had died. " Great," She said, then sighe
