“I have some work to do, so I am leaving,” he said, enjoying her surprise. “You are going to stay here until I come back.”
“Going to find
Ludwig shook his head, sitting about twenty feet away in a small tavern opposite to her shop. He was itching to see her again—those beautiful golden hair and blue eyes, which haunted him every waking hour and every sleeping spell. He was now her official stalker. He thought that he was looking for some sort of distraction. His beta suggested that he should vent his frustration out with other maids at the castle since his beta thought that he was missing Zoe. However, the only distraction that he wanted was the one who was working in the antique shop.
Now Penny couldn’t sit down, nor have her juice. Her mind was like a butterfly that was fluttering like a prisoner in the bottle who was about to find its freedom. Her skin tingled.
Over the last few days, Ludwig had started collecting things that he thought he would gift her. There was an armoire full of dresses that would look suitable on her. There were lingerie too, especially red in color. He couldn’t help when his imagination ran wild. He had placed all the jewelry he had collected from her in the vintage shop in the armoire along with the dresses. Every night he would gaze at his growing collection for Penny.
“Where’s my satchel?” Penny asked, moving further away from him out of embarrassment. But since she was already pressed to the door, she stood on her toes and sucked her air in to put as much distance as possible.
Penny walked towards the garden to watch the blossoms sway freely in the wind and she became jealous of them. When she was ready, she remembered that he had talked about an adjacent room. She walked to the door of the room that was closed. Books… It was time to check out the books he kept, but she didn’t even know how to read well. She had dropped out of the school when she was eleven, just after her first grade. Her parents didn’t have enough money to pursue her education. Her mother said that she would homeschool her, but even that never happened.
She walked to the couch and sat over there, glaring at him with anger.Ludwig couldn’t comprehend her. Why wasn’t this mortal scared of him or scared of th
She looked up at him and the crayon in her hand fell. She got up seeing so much blood over him. “Ludwig, whatever happened to you?” Her voice was a mere whisper. He could feel pity and sympathy in her heart. “Why is there so much blood on you?” she asked as she stepped closer to him. There was blood on his torso. His breathing was ragged. The black shirt he was wearing was held by one button in the center and it was torn on the side. The crimson blood smudged his skin, but there was no visible wound, only a slight cut on his biceps.
Ludwig didn’t know why but jealousy flared inside his chest and raked at his heart. He never felt this kind of jealousy for Zoe but then she wasn’t interested in men, though men did love her. Her body, her curves, her beauty—everything was talk of the kingdom. When people talked about her, he used to smile, but when Penny talked about her would-be boyfriends, he couldn’t handle the rage that seethed in his chest. His eyes went to her lips and down to her cleavage.
