Unknown POV “This isn't playing out how I imagined it would!” I hissed into the receiver of my phone as I checked my environment to be sure that I was alone.“Hello to you too. Don't they teach you kids manners in your fancy school? And they call us barbarians!”, she said, her voice rich in obvious amusement.“I don't care for pleasantries! The Alphason is here swearing his allegiance to her and she isn't even on school property!” I hissed at her and heard her sigh.“It just means that the Alphason's heart was never truly yours to begin with. It has nothing whatsoever to do with me. Though, there is always a way around pesky little things like mate bonds and love. I can have you sorted out. But I have scratched your back for too long with nothing received in return. That doesn't sound quite right, does it?” I felt something cold run down my spine at her implications.Well, I should have expected this. I was the one who decided to play Russian roulette with witches! Despicable bunch t
Cade's POV “Dad!” I said as I got to my feet. He waved me to sit down and pulled out the other chair to sit down himself.“Well? Why are you looking for witch and werewolf mates? Are the rumors true? If they are true then we have a serious problem on our hands,” my father said and I sat down with a sigh.“Nothing has been confirmed, dad. Anaya said it's not true but there is no such thing as smoke without fire, you taught me that. I want to be prepared either way, if it's not true, then somebody is going to pay seriously for it. If it is true then we have to find a way to move forward without hurrying Anaya or her family. Chief Raines has been nothing but loyal to you and this pack, we can't take it for granted,” I said to my father in a steady voice that didn't mirror the storm that was brewing with intensity in my gut.My father stared at me for a while before taking a deep breath.“She's your mate isn't she?” My father said in a matter of fact tone that I couldn't argue with. I lo
Cade's POV She suddenly went cold beside me and I pushed my wolf forward to scan our environment for any threats, all the while I slowly increased our speed. I knew this detour was a bad idea but Seth texted me that she didn't have breakfast before we left. I couldn't leave her hungry in good conscience, then her stomach growled in her sleep. My father and her parents were aware that we were coming home today, so I updated them as I pumped gas for the car. The weather was unbearably hot and would mess with anyone's senses. That is why I wasn't really surprised when my wolf said he didn't find anything suspicious. Before the rumors hit the school I received a parcel detailing everything that eventually hit the school gossip blog. The cameras outside my room only captured the back of the person who dropped the package which was frustrating as hell.Anaya tried to relax after a while but I could tell that she either experienced or saw something. The package I received was full of irref
Anaya's POV I felt sick from all the knots forming in my belly as I stood outside the school library building, waiting for Cade.I did everything I could in twenty four hours to get out of this ride but everything fell through. Even my dad thought it was a good idea to have Cade bring me home.I ran my hand through my hair, already certain that it looked like a bird nest at this point. Seth walked out of the library with a carry-on on his shoulder.“What are you doing?” I asked him as he lowered the bag.“Nothing major, just having the first row seat to your most embarrassing journey yet,” Seth said to me as he blew on the shades he brought out of the bag. I closed my eyes to take a deep breath.Assuming he was wrong I would have given him a comeback that would make his ears bleed. But he isn't, and I appreciate the fact that he's trying to cheer me up in his usual way.“Just shut up!” I hissed at him as I ran my hand through my hair again. This was unsettling, goddess! I felt sick.
Anaya's POV I smiled at my exam sheet before packing up my things and going to submit it. We had a game today and I was pumped for it. The Moonclaw pack was going to be playing against the Bloodmoon pack and we were the hosts!I have heard so many things about the Bloodmoon pack. Not a good report if I'm being honest but I was pumped for some reason to watch them play.Outside the hall I had an odd feeling and turned around to see that students were staring at me and whispering.“Goddess! Is there a stain on my uniform?! Did I get my period and didn't notice! Crap!” I mentally panicked and walked as fast as I could without running straight to the restroom where I checked my uniform thoroughly yet found nothing.Weird!Nothing was attached to my backpack or uniform so why were they staring at me like?I began to push open the door to the restroom but I stopped as I heard voices approaching.“Did you hear?!” One of them whispered with excitement while the other shushed them.“Be quiet
Anaya's POV I stood to the side as Seth made some calls. At the end of each call he told me the same thing.“It's a temporary arrangement until her room is fixed. At most she'll be with you for a month.”His words weren't as helpful as he thought they were. Finally he called Cade whose response was similar to the others. He even sounded bored.“You know we can't leave her with full access to Sierra!”I heard Seth hiss into the phone before he walked away. I sighed deeply. His words resonated with the fear that had been trying to strangle me since she said she was going to be moving in with me temporarily. Sierra was the one moving in here, not her stooge here.I watched Seth run his hand through his hair in frustration before he closed his eyes and took deep breaths.“I don't care if you have sworn to never be on the same planet as she is, a student's life is in danger and it is your responsibility to ensure that it doesn't stay that way!” Seth said angrily into the phone and I felt m
