Chapter five

It’s getting dark outside. I am waiting for my dad to go to bed. I can hear his footsteps walk over to my room. He stops at my door and locks it. Are you serious right now? Did he really just lock me up in my own bedroom?

It’s fine I can climb out of the window just need to figure out how I am going to get back inside my room. I knot 2 sheets together. On one side I tie around my desk in front of my window. On the other side, I hang outside of my window. It’s just like in the movies. I hope this works. I wait a few minutes to make sure my dad is asleep. I try to mind link, Axel.

“Are you still awake?” I ask him.

“Yes, I am. I am already here waiting for you.” He replies.

“Okay I am coming now”

“Alright see you in a bit. Be careful.”

I Cut the link and grab an extra set of clothes. I put them in a bag. ‘Will you carry these for me?’ I ask Vicky. ‘Of course’ she replies. I jump out of the window and head straight for the forest. I dug behind some bush and wait a minute to see if any lights in the house go on. It stays dark and Vicky comes forward. I shift. My bones snapping and breaking. I will never get used to that sound. Vicky runs through the forest heading to the old tree at the 3 border point.

Vicky is a fast runner. The fastest from our pack. I can feel the wind go through Vicky’s fur. It feels nice. It feels free. Running through the forest with the moon on our back makes us feel stronger. Like it’s charging us as we run. I can tell Vicky is enjoying it as much as I am. We arrive at the big old tree and I see Axel sitting leaning against the tree. Vicky walks over to him and rubs her head against his.

“Hello gorgeous” he chuckles while going with his hand through Vicky’s fur. “Took you long enough”

Vicky licks his face and steps behind a bush letting me shift back. I put on the shorts and singlet Vicky carried for me. I walk over to the tree and Axel stands up walking over to me. He grabs my face and kisses my forehead. I inhale his scent, it calms me down. I stare into his eyes and feel a warmth all over my body. He grabs my hand and pulls me over to the old tree. Every touch tingles all over my body.

“You wanted to talk," I tell him.

“Yes. I think I might know the answer but anyway. You said your dad's patrol saw you cross the borders last night?”

“Yes. That’s why I am grounded.”

“Okay. So Uhm. Your Fathers man tried to come over the border this morning. I think it might have to do something with our meeting last night. Did he happen to mention anything about that?”

“No. I told him I didn’t see anyone and he said I was lucky. I don’t think he knows about our meeting.”

“Okay, that’s good. I guess we are lucky. Are you planning on telling your dad?”

“Honestly. I don’t know what to do.” I tell him about my father’s plans if I don’t find my mate. About the jerk Matthias. Somehow I feel so comfortable with him. Even though we just met. I guess that’s the mate bond. I never understood the mate bond. I still don’t. I just met my mate and all I want is him. I want to feel his touch I want to be with him. I hardly know him. Besides he is my father’s enemy. How did this happen?!

“Wow, your dad really is an asshole.”

I laugh at his reaction. He pulls me closer to him as we sit under the big old tree. It feels nice. I inhale his scent. It’s so calming. I lay my head on his shoulder and he puts his arm around my middle. My body tingles everywhere and a warm comfortable feeling floods over my body at the same time. I look up at the sky. It’s a beautiful clear evening. You can see so many stars.

“Do you like watching the stars?” he asks while looking up at the sky with me.

“Yes, I think it’s beautiful. It makes me wonder how big the universe is. And how small we are.”

“ Did you know that the universe spans a diameter of 150 billion light-years?” he says.

“ No, I didn’t know that. That sounds huge"

He laughs. We talk for a while and enjoy each other’s company. It’s nice to have a deep talk like that. He tells me more interesting facts about the stars and the universe. The whole time he was playing with my hair as my head was laying on his shoulder looking and the sky filled with stars.

“It's getting late. I should head home.” I tell him. I don’t want to go but my dad is going to kill me if I am not home in the morning.

“Yeah, you’re absolutely right.” He pulls me into his lab. His soft lips pressing on mine. A gentle yet passionate kiss makes my body heats up. I grab his face and kiss him back. I never kissed anyone before. His tongue softly licking my lips. I open my lips and his tongue finds my tongue. I follow his lead. He pulls his tongue back and kisses me once more on my lips. I feel things I never felt before. My stomach aches, my body feels heated up, and all sorts of tingles rush through my body. Is this what it feels like to fall in love? Am I in love? We just met. This mate thing is so confusing. I open my eyes and my eyes meet his. His eyes sparkle and he has a smile on his face. Making me blush as he stares into my eyes.

“Let me walk with you" he says

“I don’t think that’s a good idea. My dad's patrols are probably on high alert.”

“Okay, mind link me when you’re home and safe. I’ll wait here until you’re in your room.” He kisses my forehead and I nod agreeably.

It feels nice for someone to care for me the way he does. I dug behind a bush and shift into my wolf. Vicky walks over to Axel and licks his face before we head home.
