Amber’s pov Everyone started coming in for the conference. Ronin and Bodhi and their daughter Jaimee, Dawn and her mate Chase plus Oliver and Ava and their three kids. Hi! I wanted to add a small chapter to bridge the time between chapter 48 and 40, seeing as I jumped pretty quickly to 12 years later. Amber's pov I needed to leave around twelve for my run with the special wolves, but I had some time left for Axel. We made love like when we first found out we were mates and I did not want to leave our bed. I was snuggling with Axel when Ripley said, "okay, you had your fun. Come on let me out." Fine. I got out of bed, trying not to wake Axel up and grabbed a big shirt. I put the shirt on and headed downstairs, the other special wolves were already waiting for me. They would head out with me, some of them wanted to see how I charged myself. I had always been reluctant to share it with anyone, but it was one of the last times I would be able to do this. We all shifted and went into the forest. I usually charged myself near the lake, but that area still felt private to me. So I found another clearing. I sat down and the other wolves sat down beside me, forming a circle. "You know, we can try something different if you want?" Ridley said. "What do you have in mind," I responded.

Axel’s pov Dinner had been great. Kenzo and Keva announced their pregnancy, Keva was expecting a girl. I was really happy for them, although it did remind me of my own desire to have more pups. But I didn’t walk to talk to Amber about it until Elias’ birthday. She already had so much going on and I knew she felt like she wasn’t giving Briana enough attention. Axel’s pov Amber and Elias were both on bed rest, sleeping most of the day. I felt totally helpless in this situation, I knew I just had to wait for them to get better. I spend my days focusing on pack security and finding out more about witches. My father had an extensive library, which actually belonged more to my mother in hind sight. But perhaps she had some books on witches as well. I needed to do something. Briana was in school most of the day, even though I told her she was more than welcome to stay home. I think she needed the distraction as much as I did. I walked to the library and saw some books that might be helpful. They discussed the difference between white and dark magic and how each type of magic changed someone. Performing dark magic required massive amounts of anger and evil, the more you performed dark magic the darker your soul became. Some spells even took some of your soul. Amber’s pov Even though both Axel and I were pissed at Elias, we had a party tomorrow. We needed to make sure Jade was really gone and would not try anything before Elias’ birthday celebration. Axel had given the guards at the prison a long speech, they should have paid better attention. It was ridiculous how easy Elias had freed Jade or Finley, whatever her name was. I had focused all my attention on this party, trying not to freak out about losing my powers or the fact that Elias was still in danger. The sooner the party was over, the sooner the new phase in our life would begin. I shouldn't have hid myself in party plans. I might have noticed something was up with Elias. Amber’s pov The party went great, everyone seemed to love it. All the guest were congratulating Elias and some looked at me with pity in their eyes. They knew my powers would come to an end tonight. Luckily Axel stayed close to me the whole evening, his hand on my lower back gentle stroking it. "Everything will be fine", he told me. I had chosen as many desserts as I could for the buffet, I loved desserts. But I didn’t have much of an appetite. Briana came by with a plate full deserts wrapped up. Axel’s pov I know it has been a crazy few weeks with Jade trying to kill Elias and then Elias freeing her. Not to mention Elias becoming King and Amber losing her power. There is so much to do. I know all this, but yet I'm not stressed out. For the first time in years I feel a sense of peace. Peace knowing that Elias doesn’t need our, or mainly Amber’s protection. Peace knowing that my beautiful mate doesn’t have her future written in stone anymore. She can choose her own destiny. It’s been hard for Elias getting to know his power. He decided to stick around until he is graduated, so he could practice his new powers. It’s been also hard for Amber adjusting to “normal” life, but I have loved having her around. And I’ve tried to show Amber in every way possible that she’s still special to me. We are starting to get used to the idea that we don’t have to worry about our kids being killed all the time.
