ALPHA’S SECRET TWINS: RISE OF THE HEIRS

Chapter Three – Fire in the Dark

The first scream came from the eastern border.

Then chaos followed.

The alarm howl tore through the territory, sharp and urgent, echoing across the forest like a warning from the night itself.

Lia’s heart dropped instantly.

“No…”

Outside, wolves were already shifting.

Growls filled the air.

The peaceful home they had fought so hard to build shattered in seconds.

Alpha Liam moved through the estate like a storm, every movement controlled and deadly calm.

“Ryan!” he barked.

“I’ve got the north side covered!”

“Keep them away from the house.”

Ryan nodded once before disappearing into the darkness.

Another howl echoed.

Closer this time.

Too close.

Liam’s eyes flashed dangerously.

“They’re testing the borders,” he growled.

But he already knew the truth.

This wasn’t a test.

It was a message.

Inside the house, Ethan was pacing aggressively.

“I’m not staying here.”

“Yes, you are,” Lia snapped immediately.

“We can fight!”

“You are not going out there!”

Ethan clenched his fists. “Mom!!

“No.”

The fear in her voice silenced him for half a second.

Only half.

“People are attacking our home,” he argued. “You expect us to hide?”

Elena suddenly stiffened near the window.

“There are more coming.”

Lia turned instantly. “How many?”

Elena’s face paled slightly.

“A lot.”

Cold fear spread through the room.

Outside

The trees exploded with movement.

Dark figures rushed from the forest at terrifying speed,Growls,Snarls.

Silver eyes glowing in the dark.

Liam shifted instantly.

The massive black wolf lunged forward, crashing into the first attacker with brutal force.

Bones cracked.

The enemy wolf slammed into the ground hard enough to shake the earth.

Another wolf attacked from the side.

Liam tore through him violently.

Fast.

Precise.

Merciless.

Blood stained the forest floor.

But more kept coming.

Too many.

At the edge of the battlefield stood Kaiden Vale, watching calmly.

Almost amused.

“This territory really is impressive,” he murmured.

One of his men stepped beside him nervously. “Should we join the fight?”

Kaiden’s silver eyes remained fixed on Liam.

“Not yet.”

“Why?”

A faint smile crossed Kaiden’s face.

“Because I want to see how far the great Alpha Liam will go for them.”

Back inside the house .A loud crash shook the walls.

Lia jumped.

Ethan moved instantly toward the door.

“No!”

Too late.

Another crash echoed outside followed by a wolf’s painful cry.

Ethan’s eyes flashed gold.

“I can’t just stand here!”

Lia grabbed his arm tightly. “You are my son before anything else.”

His anger cracked slightly at that.

“You think I’m scared for myself?” he asked quietly.

Lia froze.

Ethan’s voice lowered.

“I’m scared for you.”

That broke something inside her.

Because suddenly he didn’t sound like a child anymore.

Another violent roar shook the air.

Then,

Silence.

Brief.

Wrong.

Elena suddenly turned toward the back door.

“He’s hurt.”

Lia’s blood ran cold.

“What?”

Elena’s breathing became uneven.

“Dad.”

Lia didn’t think.

Didn’t hesitate.

She ran.

“Mom!” Ethan shouted behind her.

But she was already out the door.

The battlefield was chaos.

Wolves everywhere.

Blood.

Broken trees.

Growls echoing through the dark.

And in the middle of it—

Liam.

Breathing heavily.

A deep wound stretched across his side, blood soaking into dark fur.

Three wolves circled him slowly.

Waiting for weakness.

Waiting to strike.

Lia’s chest tightened painfully.

“LIAM!”His wolf’s head snapped toward her instantly.

And that single moment of distraction

Almost cost him.

One wolf lunged.

Lia screamed.

But before it could touch him—

A powerful force slammed into the attacker.

Ethan.

The wolf crashed into a tree violently.

Everyone froze.

Even Liam.

Ethan stood between them now, breathing hard, eyes glowing brightly with Alpha fury.

“You touch my family again,” Ethan growled, voice shaking with rage, “and I’ll kill you.”

Silence.

Complete silence.

Because for the first time, The boy sounded terrifyingly like Liam.

Kaiden watched from the shadows, impressed.

“Well…” he murmured softly. “That’s interesting.”

Another attacker rushed toward Ethan.

Lia’s heart nearly stopped.

But Elena stepped forward calmly.

Too calmly.

The air shifted instantly.

Pressure exploded outward.

The attacking wolf suddenly froze mid-movement—

Like something invisible held him in place.

Elena’s eyes darkened.

“Leave.”

The wolf whimpered.

Actually whimpered.

Then fled immediately.

The others followed seconds later.

Retreating into the forest.

Gone.

The silence afterward felt unreal.

Heavy breathing.

Blood.

Fear.

And relief.

Liam shifted back slowly into human form, injured but standing.

Lia rushed toward him immediately.

“You’re hurt.”

“I’m fine.”

“You are literally bleeding.”

“I’ve been worse.”

Lia grabbed his face suddenly.

“Stop acting like almost dying is normal!”

Liam went still.

Completely still.

Because her hands were shaking.

Not from anger.

Fear.

Real fear.

“You scared me,” she whispered.

The words hit harder than the fight ever could.

Something changed in Liam’s expression then.

Softened.

Lowered.

Human.

Slowly, his hand covered hers.

“I’m here.”

Lia swallowed hard.

Too close.

Too emotional.

Too much.

Behind them, Ethan made a disgusted face.

“Oh no.”

Elena sighed quietly. “Here we go again.”

“They’re doing the staring thing.”

Lia immediately stepped back. “We are not.”

“You totally are,” Ethan replied.

Even injured, Liam looked slightly amused.

Which only made Lia more embarrassed.

But then Liam winced suddenly from the wound in his side.

Lia’s expression changed instantly.

“Sit down.”

“I’m alright.”

“That wasn’t a suggestion.”

Ethan blinked slowly. “Wow.”

Elena nodded. “Mom’s scarier.”

“I heard that,” Liam muttered.

A small laugh escaped Lia before she could stop it.

And for one tiny moment,

Despite the danger.

Despite the blood.

Despite the war beginning around them It felt normal ,Like family.

But at the edge of the forest…

Kaiden still watched silently.

Interested.

Curious.

Dangerous.

His silver eyes lingered on Elena this time.

Then Ethan.

Then finally Lia.

And when he disappeared back into the darkness—

He was smiling.

Because now he knew something important.

The twins weren’t just powerful.

They were worth starting a war over.
