Chapter 5

I heard some sound of insects outside the window, with heavy eyelids I gradually open my eyes. The familiar ceiling welcomed me, I look around and I'm right that it's my room.

"Fortunately, you finally wake up." The old woman who always look at me with hostility was now shaking her head disappointedly but with a pinch of pity in her eyes, "it's just formality to introduce your self, yet it's already failure."

I could not understand what does she mean, my eyebrows creased. "W-what you m-mean, m-ma'am?"

She gave out a heavy sighed and sat down to the chair beside the bed, "Alpha Dexion disapproved you to be his daughter's nanny, but we can't blame him." She stare at me, "you can't even control you pheromones properly, how can he trust you."

My lips parted, I was a bit surprised since I haven't undergo in some test to see if I'm still untouched omega, seems like he doesn't want any complicated things to happened in the future. Like, someone will came and claim that I already have an owner.

Owner...

My hand caressed my forearm as I remember how he tightly hold me, as if afraid that I will hurt myself when I lost control of my pheromones.

"He doesn't want any of what happened earlier to repeat in front of his daughter, since lady Charlotte is also a dominant one, your uncontrollable scent might affect her." She explained more, as if she tried to comfort me even though she doesn't like me.

I nodded, what can I do if I already failed from the very start.

But soon I realized the consequences of my failure to have reason to stay here, the anxiousness and panicked kicked in. "T-then what w-will happened to m-me?" My hand started to trembled.

The unwanted negative thoughts start to pop out one after another, will they sold me to some brothel too? Mr. Rusco already said that there's another job they can offer to me, but what is it?

She gave out a sighed, "you will be sent to other relative house to be attendant, but don't be sad since it's not the first. The first four people who Rusco picked somewhere got sent away."

She stood and walked toward the door, "if you feeling fine now, help us to cook or clean while you are staying here."

I slowly nodded.

Eleven o'clock in the morning when everyone in the kitchen are busy preparing for lunch, as I promised to Mrs. Winston, I also help but since I have no confident to cook, they only let me clean and cut the vegetables and wash the dishes.

The mansion only have four attendants including Mrs.Winston, two of them is even from Mr. Rusco's relative. They all keep saying that Alpha Dexion have small trust to stranger and the reason is unknown to me.

And when I asked, they just tightly closed their mouth and ignored my curiosity.

Exact twelve noon, Lady Charlotte and Alpha Dexion is already sitting in dining area. Mrs. Winston and others serve the foods while they keep me inside the kitchen, afraid that my presence will affect Alpha Dexion especially lady Charlotte.

From lunch to evening, I did my best to keep distance to lady Charlotte. I'm lucky enough that they let me stay here after what happened.

I could not help but stay inside my room and keep watching the clear sky, it's full my star tonight. I'd never imagined watching something like this can put me at ease at least.

"Excuse me?" Three knocked on the door mingled to her little voice outside the door, without checking it I already knew who is it.

I hesitate first but I could not stop to worry why she's here in the west side of the mansion, since her room is in the center.

"L-lady C-Charlotte, why?" I whispered as I slowly open the door.

"Hello, good evening!" She greeted me with enthusiasm, she even wave her small hand and smile widely. "I've been thinking of you since morning, I'm worried."

She looked up to me, and as I stare at her eyes my stomach twitched. She's worried, not afraid?

"I-I'm okay... Y-you don't h-have to worry." I want to say more to him but I couldn't.

I knelt down in front of her and caressed her cheeks, "t-thank you."

Her eyes flickered, her face beaming from happiness. What so good about me thanking her?

"P-please go back to y-your room, l-lady C-Charlotte." I'm about to stand up but she hug her arms to my neck and leaned her head to my shoulder, her small right hand even patting the back of my head.

"Don't worry, you're safe here there's no monster to hurt you. Don't cry again, huh?" She's comforting me...

Without thinking, I hug her too. Tears starting to fall down to my cheeks, I bit my lower lips to suppress my sobs.

Who would though I'll cry in front of six years old child just because she's telling me that I'll be okay—I'll be safe...

"Charlotte!" Someone grabbed Lady Charlotte and took her away from me, his rage voice echoed in the hallway.

He looked at me sharply, but I couldn't focus on his stare since all I can see is how he grips lady Charlotte's forearm.

"H-hurt... S-she's hurt." I whispered and extend my arm, I trembled as I hold his hand holding lady Charlotte. "L-let go, p-please."

When he finally realized what I mean, he let her go. But he still put her beside him and focus on me, "why she's here, didn't they told you already that you can't go near her since your pheromones might affect her?"

I looked at Lady Charlotte, I saw how guilty she is coming here without asking permission. I lowered my head, "I-I'm sorry."

"D-Daddy! It's my fault, I came here without Mrs. Winston knowing—"

"Tomorrow, you will leave this mansion. Talk to Rusco, I can't let you stay here any longer." He firmly said and was about to carry lady Charlotte but she run toward me, hugging my thighs tightly.

"No! You can't send her away, I like her!" Lady Charlotte shouted that not only me but even Alpha Dexion was taken aback by her sudden burst out.

"Charlotte, stop whining. Come here, let's talk." Finally, his voice become soft but he still side eyes me like it's my fault why she's acting like that.

"N-no, don't send her away. She smell like those thing you keep inside your office, isn't that my mother's—"

"STOP!" Mr. Rusco who just arrived stopped, while I look worriedly to Lady Charlotte who trembled from shocked.

I could tell he did not meant to shout, he look at lady Charlotte with full of regrets in is eyes. He regrets it to the point he couldn't bring himself to extend his arm to hold her, to comfort Lady Charlotte.

"Rusco." He whispered.

"Yes, Alpha Dexion?" He immediately walked toward us and bow.

"Take Charlotte to her room, make sure she will sleep." He said and turn his back to us, leaving without saying anymore.

I could feel Lady Charlotte want to run toward her dad but she's also afraid that he's angry, and I can't blame her to think that way. She's just a child, and also has fault.

"Lady Charlotte, let's go now. Tomorrow, we will talk to your father. Make sure to apologize, everything will be alright." Smile at her and extend his hand, patiently waiting for her to hold it.

He's not forcing her, instead, he's giving her a time to think. If she's willing to come with him, and fortunately she accept it.

She look at me apologetic, so I give her genuine smile to assure that I didn't blame her to what happened tonight.

She's just a child who want to comfort someone; someone like me who trembled and cried in front of her this morning.

"Don't leave, ok? Come with us tomorrow, let's talk daddy." She look at me pleadingly before finally walk away with Mr.Rusco.

She wanted me to stay, and the reason is my scent. The same scent with her mother, but where is her mother...
