Revenge & Night Club

Leia - POV

"I've reviewed the documents and still have much more work to do than just analyzing three contracts before forwarding them to the CEO of another company," I remarked, feeling frustrated.

"God! Women, do you only know work and nothing else?" Daisy said as she appeared in the doorway with fresh bagels and a coffee mug. I snatched them from her and unwrapped the bagel to enjoy the coffee.

"Seriously, I got those for myself," Daisy spat, irritated.

"You shouldn't have walked into my room with bagels and coffee if you didn't want them to be taken," I joked with a smile, and Daisy shook her head in amusement.

"How long will you lock yourself in this room, Leia?" Daisy asked, taking a seat on my bed. I continued typing the email, avoiding her gaze.

"My life is in danger, and they keep things from me. What do you think I should do? I'd rather work than go insane thinking about the mystery I'm surrounded by. There's no choice but to follow your boss's orders," I explained, taking a bite of my bagel.

"You need to be patient with the alphas; they're working on it. They'll bring the truth to light," Daisy tried to reason with me, but my eyes glared at her.

"Did they send you to convince me? It sounds like you're taking their side and not understanding mine," I said, feeling defensive.

"Leia, I'm on your side, and I understand what you're going through. But by locking yourself in this room and not eating dinner or lunch, you're just punishing yourself," Daisy pointed out.

"I wasn't hungry," I defended myself.

"Yes, I can see how you eat unladylike," Daisy teased. I rolled my eyes at her comment.

"I'll eat in my room. I don't want to see those alphas or meet anyone. I hate the wolf realm," I grumbled. Daisy looked at me with a blank stare. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and my gaze snapped to see Sia holding a breakfast tray.

"I heard you haven't been eating for two days," Sia said, looking concerned. I blinked, surprised to see her, and couldn't think of anything to say as she placed the tray on the table.

"I didn't mean to cause you trouble, Leia, but I had to tell you a half-truth. My sons told me you have a curse, but I'm unsure how strong it is. They're also discovering the truth, and I am unaware of the past. I am sorry I couldn't be of more help. Please eat, and don't be angry."

"I will eat," I said. I learned from Daisy that Sia was sick with an unknown illness, yet she still brought breakfast for me. I realized I had been putting my anger at the Alphas when Sia had done nothing to deserve it. Sia smiled as I ate breakfast, grateful for her kindness.

"Thank you, Luna, for knocking some sense into her," Daisy mumbled, and Luna Sia smiled at Daisy and me.

"Daisy, would you mind helping to prepare dinner? We have a guest coming over for dinner."

"Of course, Luna. I can cook alone if you want to rest," Daisy added.

"I have rested enough, dear. I just need to cook to put my mind at ease,"

Luna Sia replied.

"Who is the guest?" Daisy asked.

"Alpha Francis Perth and his wife, Leena, will be here," Luna Sia stated. The coffee mug slipped from my hand and broke into pieces. Daisy and Luna Sia looked at me. Daisy looked at me sympathetically, and Luna Sia's gaze was confused.

"What is going on?" Luna Sia asked, staring at Daisy and then at me. That's when I realized that Xavier and Kai didn't inform Sia about my first mate, Francis, who rejected me.

"Um… Nothing. It just slipped from my hand," I said. Sia sighed at my remark. "You and your mother, Jia, are not good liars, so spill. Is it something to do with Alpha Francis or his wife?" she asked, pinning me with an authoritative gaze. It was hard to lie to Sia.

"He was my first mate who rejected me," I muttered, and Sia's authoritative eyes turned into sympathetic ones as she walked up to me.

"It must have been hard on you. Rejections are difficult, my dear; I know well," Sia said. I looked away from Sia's gaze and at the window. Although it had been five years since my mate rejected me, it still felt like yesterday.

"Can I join the dinner tonight?" I asked.

"Of course, if you're okay with it," Sia said calmly.

"I think I am. No more running from it," I mumbled.

"I'm proud of you, Leia," Sia whispered, giving me a charming smile that put me at ease. She always gives motherly love and smiles, which warms my heart. Sia strolled out of my room, and Daisy stared at me.

"If you're not okay, you can stay in the room."

"No, Daisy. I've had enough of my past controlling me. I need to move on with my life. Hiding in the room just because of my past won't let me step up," I said, squaring my shoulders and finding the right outfit for tonight's dinner.

"Help me find the revenge dress," I ordered Daisy, who quickly jumped into action, helping me scan through my wardrobe.

"This red dress has off shoulders with a bodycon one," Daisy said. "I will help with your makeup, okay?" Daisy went to help with arranging things. I finished my work, waiting for dinner tonight.

******

Though I had confidently made plans in the morning, as the time to meet Alpha Francis drew nearer, my anxiety grew, and I paced back and forth in my room, waiting for Daisy to arrive.

"Come on, Leia, don't back down," I urged myself.

Finally, Daisy entered the room. She was dressed in a beautiful black gown and looked stunning. "Why aren't you dressed yet?" she asked, studying my face. "Are you having second thoughts?" I nodded.

"Come on, Leia; I'm proud of you. Don't let them win," Daisy encouraged me. Her words strengthened my resolve, and I wiped my tears and quickly changed into the red revenge dress.

"Damn, you look beautiful even without makeup," Daisy cheered, and I smiled at her. She curled my hair and applied pink lipstick, mascara, and smokey eyeshadow with a pink blush on my cheeks.

I gasped when I saw my reflection in the mirror. "You're an artist," I said.

"You're welcome, my lady. Let's go. " We're already late," Daisy said, and we headed downstairs. I could pick up the pine scent, indicating that Alpha Francis had arrived. Daisy held my hand; she must have noticed my trembling hands.

When we entered the dining room, Xavier was seated at the head of the table, with Kai on his right and Sia on his left. Vincent was also present, but my attention was drawn to Alpha Francis, who was staring at me, and his wife, Leena, gave me a subtle look of hatred.

"Sorry, we're late," Daisy said, breaking the silence. As I moved to take my seat, I could feel the eyes of Xavier, Kai, and Alpha Francis on me.

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Agnor," Alpha Francis said, breaking the tension.

"I don't think so, Alpha Francis Perth," I replied, sensing a difficult-to-understand emotion in his eyes. The air became tense at my unkind remark. "Shall we eat?" I added.

"Alpha Xavier and Alpha Kai, I didn't know Ms. Agnor was your sister," Alpha Francis said, attempting to diffuse the situation.

"If you had known they were my stepbrothers, you would still have considered taking me as a mate, even without my wolf," I said calmly, heightening the tension.

"Don't mind answering, Alpha Francis. I don't care, Leena. I heard you gave birth to Alpha Francis's heir. Congratulations to you both," I said, sipping on the wine and feeling pleased.

"Thank you," Leena replied, her voice forced.

"Enough of this chit-chat, Alpha Francis. How about we eat and discuss business? I suggest not directing the conversation towards Leia Agnor anymore," Xavier said in a bitter voice, warning me. I could see Kai's eyes holding fury, the grip on his fork was stronger and his knuckles turning white.

Alpha Francis and Leena looked startled by the scene. "Kai, come to my office," Xavier added. "Please continue the dinner." He excused himself and took Kai with him. Sia's eyes were calm, as if she knew how they would react. Vincent and Daisy looked calm. Did Kai get angry because of Alpha Francis's provocation?

I excused myself and walked to Xavier's office, feeling an inexplicable urge to do so. "Why didn't you let me punch that bastard's face?" Kai roared.

"Do you want to take revenge by just throwing a punch? Francis caused so much pain to Leia. We will both seek retribution for her. First, we must shake his business. Second, we make his pack members turn on him, and we kill him," Alpha Xavier said.

Leia - POV

I stepped away before they both caught me eavesdropping on their conversation. The air was awkward and tense when I returned to the dining room.

"Alpha Francis, I will walk you to our Alphas' office after dinner," Vincent said to Alpha Francis. I could feel Alpha Francis's subtle gaze on me and his wife's hateful glare.

"Let's go for a walk," Daisy suggested, noticing I was feeling stuffy. Sia accompanied Leena to discuss politics, and Daisy and I strolled outside while the night wind brushed our skin.

"Damn girl, you slayed Alpha Francis with your words; that asshole deserved it," Daisy smirked. I couldn't help but smile. "You remained calm and showed him his place."

"It felt nice that I could speak my mind to him. It was like unfinished business, but now it is closed. I can move on," I said, relieved that the burden of rejection no longer weighed on me.

"Daisy, is there a nightclub nearby? I need to unwind, dance my heart out, and maybe sleep with someone handsome," I asked. Daisy shook her head.

"No sleeping around, Leia. I don't want you to be a whore. How about dating someone decent?" Daisy said, and I showed her my middle finger.

"Why can't women have the freedom to enjoy sex? If I enjoy casual sex, I'm a whore, and if not, I'm a goody two shoes. I don't care what people think," I said, turning to meet Daisy's gaze.

"How about finding the right guy and settling down?" Daisy argued.

"I'm only twenty-three, too young to settle down. Just because you found your mate and settled down doesn't mean I should do the same," I snapped at Daisy, annoyed by her lectures.

"Leia, I want to see you happy. Casual sex is good for the moment, but then you wake up alone in a cold bed. I've seen you feel lonely without Vincent and my company. Don't you want someone to look after you?" Daisy said.

"You've spoiled my mood. I'll unwind alone," I grunted, and I looked at my phone for nearby locations. I strolled on the streets until I found a cab to the nightclub. When I left the cab, I saw a long queue to get into the nightclub.

"Shit, I hate waiting," I grumbled to myself.

"Hey, you're Leia, right?"  I turned to see Ana, who spoke, and my eyes looked at Caroline standing along with Clara, Natasha, and Ivory, who had been spared punishment for gossiping because of my mercy.

"Ana, nice to see you here," I said, still waiting in the long queue.

"Are you alone?" Caroline asked.

"Yeah," I replied.

"Tag along with us," Ana said with a smile, and I hesitated.

"I think I'm good alone," I declined their offer. But Caroline held my hand.

"Come on, Kai will be angry with me if he finds out I let his sister stand in the queue," Caroline said, and I had no choice but to tag with their group. We didn't have to wait in the queue since Ana showed her a golden ticket to the bouncer that screamed VIP lounge.

The nightclub was loud with music, drinks, and people grinding against each other. Ana and Caroline took their seats, and Ivory, Natasha, and Clara looked at me with sober gazes. They were still scared to say anything to me.

"How did you meet Kai and Xavier?" I asked directly to Ana and Caroline.

"I met Kai while photographing for the Blackmoon co-operative magazine," Caroline said dreamily. "We hit it off, and Kai is amazing in every way, including in bed." I tried not to cringe at the mention of their intimate details.

"What about you, Ana?" I asked, cutting off Caroline's speech. I wasn't interested in listening to her bedroom adventures.

"I met Xavier in college; his mysterious air and wit had me fall head over heels for him. We dated for a year until he broke up with me to look after his pack as an Alpha. But we recently patched things up," Ana said, not divulging too much.

Unlike Caroline and Kai, Xavier seemed to be good with women. No wonder they both give me Playboy vibes.

"Come on, let's hit the dance floor," Caroline said, pulling Ivory, Natasha, Clara, and me. I wanted to dance to my heart's content, moving my hips, dancing with my drink, and stepping out to refill it.

I looked around the club filled with wolf shifters, but I didn't want to have any casual flings with them because I didn't appreciate guys who would scorn me for not being a shifter.

"Did you find any hot guys?" Caroline asked. "I see many guys looking your way. Check out at nine o'clock." I turned to see I had a little attention.

"Come on, girl, live your life," Caroline said, but Daisy's words about casual sex being just moments and not something for the long term haunted me.

"I think I'll pass," I said. Caroline nodded as she took off to the dance floor, dancing with Ivory, Natasha, Clara, and Ana. I was bored with the nightclub and missed Daisy, whose company and banter made me happy.

"Hi," an unfamiliar male voice said. "I couldn't help but notice how stunning you look. Would you allow me to take you out on a date and get to know you better?"

"I'm not looking for a one-night stand," I said bluntly.

"To be honest, I'm not looking for a one-night stand. I'm asking you on a date," the guy said, blinking at me. He looked handsome with his brown hair and blue eyes.

"Are you sure you want to date rather than f*ck me against the wall?" I asked, surprised that someone had asked me out on a date in a nightclub. This individual appeared to be sober and not drunk. He grinned.

"I'm interested in knowing you," he said.

"Don't you have a mate, or are you still looking for one?" I asked. "My mate rejected me," he said with no emotion, and his smirk disappeared for a few seconds.

"I'm Leia," I introduced myself, "I work as the secretary of Blackmoon co-operatives, and I'm a non-shifter." Eric didn't even flinch when hearing I was not a shifter.

"Eric, I'm from the Blackmoon pack, soon to be the Gamma. How about tomorrow for a date?"

"I'm free tomorrow," I replied, exchanging numbers with Eric. He said he'd text me the time and location of our date. I felt cool and delighted to have a date. We'll see how it goes. After saying goodbye to the others, I walked home.

As I strolled through the streets, I felt uneasy. I should have accepted Eric's offer to drive me home, but my stubbornness got in the way. A vehicle stopped beside me, and the window rolled down, revealing Alpha Francis.

"Leia, what are you doing by yourself? I can drop you off at home." I was not too fond of his scorching gaze as it roamed my body.
