Chapter 2. Marriage

That afternoon, Zolan got the news that his father was hospitalized. He led a meeting to talk about building a new hotel in Bali. He immediately left the meeting after hearing the news. He didn’t care about the meeting anymore, and all his thoughts were full of his Father. He was apprehensive about his Father’s condition.

Zolan had arrived at the Hospital; he stood for a moment, took a deep breath, and strengthened his mind. He saw his Father lying weakly on the bed, he stared at the pale face, and it looked like his Father was sleeping soundly.

Zolan knew that his Father had kidney disease. He would be despondent if his Father left him because her mother had passed away since he was a kid. Zolan got so scared if his father was hospitalized in the Hospital. He couldn’t just calm down that he always wanted to be on his Father’s side.

Zolan held his Father’s hand that was wrinkled and felt so cold. Before meeting his Father, he met the doctor first to ask about his Father’s condition. Zolan had trusted the doctor to take care of his Father. The doctor said that his Father’s Kidney was getting worse. Zolan looked pensive in front of his Father because of that.

Zolan suddenly felt a slight movement from his Father’s hand; his face was trying to see Zolan. His father smiled at him because he didn’t want to look sad in front of Zolan.

With the remaining strength he had, Mr. Marfel tried to say something.

“Zolan, Dad wants you to get married!” said Mr. Marfel stumbled.

Zolan was surprised by his Father’s desire that he couldn’t say something.  It made him speechless.

“My life won’t be long, Zolan. I want to see you get married before I go. Can you do it for me? I have chosen the right woman to be your wife. I’m sure you’ll love her”. Said Mr Marfel, and Zolan still didn’t give any response.

Zolan kept staring at the floor. He couldn’t believe that his life would be ruined because he didn’t want to marry someone else. However, he didn’t want to make his Father sad. He had to do it for his father, even though it was hard for him. Zolan loved his Father that he would do anything for his father.

“Well, Dad. I’ll get married to the woman that you have chosen for me”. Zolan smiled at his father, but he felt so much pain deep inside his heart.

“Her name is Aluna, and she’s the daughter of my close friend. Her mother passed away five months ago, so she’s living alone now. You’ll get married to her tomorrow in this room. I’ve prepared everything, so you need to prepare yourself.” Mr Marfel said with his weak voice.

Zolan was so shocked, “This is too soon, and I’m not ready yet.” Zolan’s inner voice. He pretended as if everything was fine.

“Yes, Dad, I’m ready anytime. I can do it today, Hahaha”. Said Zolan to make his Father smile.

“Trust me Son, She’s the right woman for you” Mr Marfel was holding Zolan’s hand.

Zolan smiled back at his Father. His father looked so happy that his son finally got married to the woman he had chosen.

“I’m sorry, Sindy! I love you so much, but I have to marry someone else” Zolan felt so sad.
