Chapter 6: Ijab Qabul

Aluna finally met Zolan for the first time. She was surprised because Zolan was handsome and it was beyond her expectation. Zolan has white skin, round eyes, sharp nose, and beard. Aluna still didn’t believe that the handsome man would be her husband.

Beside the bed Mr. Marfel, there had been tables and chairs for the marriage. Aluna and Zolan then stepped toward the chair and sit down. Mr Rozi and Zomi had prepared all the marriage document.

“Are you ready, Zolan?”

“Yes, I’m ready! We can start now.” Zolan says firmly.

The situation was very tense. Aluna was so nervous; she was holding her dress tightly.

“Ok, Mr Zolan!” Rozi says

“Mr Zolan son of Mr Marfel, I marry off Aluna Mentari to you with the dowry a ring in cash”.

“I accept her marriage Aluna Mentari the daughter of Roslan with the dowry a ring in cash”

“How is it? Legal?”

“Legal” Zomi says firmly. Mr Marfel smiled 

Today, Aluna and Zolan had legally married, but Zolan didn’t put the ring on Aluna’s ring finger. He gave a small box to Aluna, and told her to put it alone.

“Thank you, sir! We will transfer the money soon” Zolan says to Rozi and Zomi

“Ok, sir! We have to go!” answer Rozi

There were only three of them in the room, Aluna, Zolan, and Mr. Marfel. The atmosphere was getting colder.

“Zolan, take your wife home. You need time to get to know each other. Told them to come inside to look after me” Mr Marfel says

“Yes, Father. We are leaving now” Zolan replied.

Aluna then say good bye to Mr Marfel, Mr Marfel smiled at her. After that, Aluna and Zolan come out of the room, there were four men waiting in front of the room, they were sitting on the chair in front of the room.

“My Father asked you to take care of him” Zolan says to his Father’s bodyguard

“Yes, sir!” they answer firmly

“Is this Zolan’s true character? He’s so cool.” Aluna was seuprised with Zolan’s behavior

During their way home, no one started the conversation first, until Aluna tried to say something.

Her hands were sweating, “I’m Aluna” Aluna introduced herself while reached out her hand.

Zolan keept looking outside the window, he didn’t pay attention to what Aluna just said. Aluna who was embarrassed, pull out her hand back, and looking at outside the window.

They both arrived at Mr Marfel’s house, the house was so big, and all the color was dominated with gold. There was a photo of Mr Marfel and his wife on the wall. There were three of house assistant following Aluna, they lift up Aluna’s bag. She was treated like a queen.

Aluna kept following Zolan until they arrived in a big room. In the right side there was a big brown cupboard, in the middle there was a bed, the color was peach and cream which made it more elegant. Suddenly, Aluna was alone in the room.

Zolan had left her alone. He didn’t say something to Aluna, even just a greeting or a small talk. Aluna then take her clothes out of her bag, and put it into the cupboard. When she opened the cupboard, he found a piece of paper with red tint.  Aluna took it and started to read it.

Marriage rules:

Don’t talk to each other unless in front of Mr. Marfel

Don’t have sex

Don’t tell others about our marriage, keep it as a secret.

Don’t mind each other’s business

Don’t sleep in one room

“I don’t need your permission for these five points; you just have to do it”
