Carl let me go and I turned and looked at Dalton like a deer caught in the headlights. The emotion on his face was unrecognizable. It was a mixture of anger, betrayal, and something else I couldn't pinpoint.

His emotion hit me in the face and I teared up. God, what have I done? I fucked up and hurt him after promising not to hurt him ever again.

"I know this sounds like a bad excuse but it isn't what it looks like, Dalton. I could never," I choked through tears.

"Go home, Alyssa," he said, not giving me a second glance after stepping into the office. His eyes were fixated on his brother the whole time. When I stood frozen to my feet, he once again commanded me to go home but this time, he asked in an angry tone, a tone he has never used for talking to me before.

"Go home," he barked, still not taking his eyes off Carl. This time I couldn't ignore his need to send me away. I knew nothing good would come out if I kept defending myself here. It was something we needed to clear but
