Nearly a week after the letter had been sent off, The council of Angels had gotten word of Ashton's secret lover and had been investigating into the matter. It was quite normal for the Council of ten to be involved in all matters pertaining to the thrown, and when the current king never consulted them, plans were already being made to replace him if deemed necessary. Matt was the first to catch wind of the current predicament.

"Ash you have to understand that this relationship would be a mistake. That demon would have full control and you'd be tossed aside!" His voice barely louder than a whisper.

"Matt you're exaggerating." The king dismissed. "You and I both know that's not how it works. The council is outdated and would be downright incompetent to challenge the thrown."
