Chapter 1

Autor: Grogan
After leaving Byron Lewis' study, my phone buzzed with a message from Elliot Lewis, telling me to meet him at the clubhouse.

As soon as I walked into the room, his friends started teasing me.

"Just like a puppy, you come running whenever Elliot calls! Wendy, you're so clingy! It's embarrassing for your family."

"Two months ago, she hooked up with Elliot at a party when he was drunk, and she got pregnant on purpose! Now, she's scared Elliot will dump her."

Elliot, who was sitting in the middle, looked at me with icy eyes.

"Wendy, are you that desperate to marry me? You just found out you're pregnant yesterday, and today, you're already talking to my dad about marriage. The whole town's buzzing about our upcoming wedding.

"Don't think you can trap me with this baby. I haven't decided if I want to marry you. If I don't want to, nobody can make me."

He looked at me like I was nothing.

It was just like my previous life. He never loved me or the baby I was carrying.

I took a deep breath and looked back at him without flinching. "Your dad invited me over to talk. What we talked about is none of your business."

Someone laughed mockingly. "Don't tell us you're planning to marry someone other than Elliot?"

"Wendy, are you trying a new tactic because Elliot won't be forced into marriage? Are you playing hard to get?"

Elliot gave me an icy, mocking smile.

"Everyone knows you're carrying a Lewis child. Besides the Lewis family, which other family would dare get involved with you? And in the Lewis family, who else would marry you if not me? What could you and my father possibly have talked about besides the alliance and the baby?"

"There's more," I said, keeping my cool. "Your father is throwing a birthday party for me tomorrow, and he's going to pick out a name for my baby."

"What?" The room was filled with gasps of surprise.

I knew exactly why they were so shocked.

Byron Lewis, the man who ran the whole city, had not gotten involved in family affairs for years. Now, he was making a big deal about my birthday and my baby, even choosing the baby's name himself. That was the kind of special treatment only the future Donna and heir of the Lewis family would get.

Once the shock wore off, everyone started sucking up to Elliot, throwing words of congratulations his way.

"Elliot, you're so lucky! The Don himself is going to name your kid. He must see you as the next Don!"

"Yeah, Elliot! Don't forget about us when you're the big boss of the Lewis family. We've always been on your side, even when you and your brother were kids fighting for the top spot!"

Elliot got up, looking all smug, and came over to me.

"Well, Wendy…" he said. "I guess I should congratulate you too. After all your hard work and clever moves, you've finally won me and my dad over. You're going to be my Donna."

He leaned down and whispered in my ear in a mocking tone, "I can agree to marry you, but to prevent what happened last time, you have to promise me one thing—don't ask about my personal life after we're married. Just be the perfect wife and have my kids.

"Don't worry. If you do as you're told, I'll make sure your kids will inherit everything from me."

My heart felt heavy. What was he talking about? Had he been reborn, just like me?

Suddenly, a weak voice came from behind. Sheila Baker entered, her eyes red and teary. She whispered between sobs, "Mr. Lewis!"

Elliot saw her and quickly moved away from me to rush over to her side. "Shouldn't you be resting? Why are you here?"

Sheila looked up, her eyes brimming with tears. "Mr. Carter was worried about Ms. Carter going out alone while she's pregnant. He sent me to find her…!"

Elliot turned to me, his eyes filled with anger. "Wendy, it's just a baby! Are you so delicate that you need someone who's sick to look after you? Sheila's job is to help the Carters, not to risk her life! Don't you see she's not well?"

Sheila had indeed been coughing the entire time.

"It's not Ms. Carter's fault. I… I heard about your wedding and just wanted to wish you both happiness… a long life together…"

Sheila gently pulled on Elliot's sleeve while coughing and crying, looking so upset that she might pass out.

Elliot picked her up with care and shot me a fierce look. In front of everyone, he said in an icy voice, "Wendy, if you keep being mean to Sheila, forget about marrying me and becoming the Donna of the Lewis family! You'll end up being a single mom forever!"

He said that, hugged Sheila, and walked away without looking back.

People started laughing and making fun of me. I looked at the two and everyone else who was teasing me. I could not help but smile a little.

Perfect.

I did not want to marry Elliot or become his Donna anyway. My baby would soon see his dad.

I gazed into his tear-filled eyes and said calmly, "Yes, I was reborn, just like you. And I remember everything you did."Elliot's body shook, and his eyes were full of nothing but hopelessness. His tears started to fall. He shook his head slowly, as if he could not believe it. "No... It can't be true! You belong to me, always!"He tried to hug me and kiss me while ignoring my attempts to push him away.Feeling his tears on my face, I was sick and humiliated.Just as he was about to tear off my clothes, the bedroom door burst open."Let her go!"The once dim room filled with light, and a loud bang echoed as a bullet struck Elliot's arm. Joseph stormed in with his team, kicked Elliot aside, and wrapped his arms around me protectively. He glared at Elliot, who was in pain on the floor. His eyes were icy and fierce. "I promised Dad I wouldn't end you, so consider this your last warning. Next time, it'll be much worse."Joseph's men held Elliot down while Joseph picked me up, his v

Elliot made a big mistake. Drunk as could be, he ran to my and Joseph's room, banging on the door and yelling my name. However, only a maid walked over to him. We had such a memorable and happy time.Love made me glow. When we landed at the airport after our trip was over, I looked even more radiant than on my wedding day. I was so caught up in my happiness that I did not notice Elliot watching Joseph and me from a corner. When I went to the restroom by myself, Elliot, with red eyes and a scruffy face, suddenly appeared. He grabbed me like a madman, then covered my mouth and nose. I passed out. When I woke up, it was already the next night.Elliot had tied my hands and locked me in a dark bedroom with empty bottles all over the floor. Seeing me awake, he got up from the floor, all wobbly. The strong smell of alcohol made me scrun

With memories from a previous life, Elliot was so sure that he would be the next Don and I would be his Donna. However, Byron's words shattered his dream like glass.Joseph looked at him, all serious. "Elliot, I decided to stay overseas for just one reason. It wasn't because I thought I had lost the race to be the heir. It was because I loved Wendy, but she loved you. "However, she's chosen me now. So, face the truth."Elliot's eyes were red, and in his current state, he could not hear a word. He just stared at me, his eyes swirling with strong feelings. "You knew it all along, right? You were never planning to marry me. You knew I wouldn't be the Don. That's why you sat next to my brother at that dinner. Even the wedding ring you designed wasn't meant for me. And that's why you don't care whether I show up to the wedding." I faced him with a blank look. "Elliot, I had told you so many times that I wasn't marrying you and that the wedding had nothing to do with you. You just

Elliot and his friends were so stunned that they could not move.Elliot was the most shocked. He gritted his teeth so hard that veins bulged from his forehead. He stared at the host, his voice shaking with rage. "The groom is Joseph? No way! How could you mess this up?"However, Joseph just gave a chilly laugh. He brushed past him, took my hand, and led me to the stage.Elliot's eyes nearly popped out of his head. His mind went blank, and he felt like his blood was on fire! In the next moment, he shoved past his frozen friends, stormed onto the stage, and grabbed my hand. His eyes were wild with fear and worry, a look I had never seen on him before."You can't marry Joseph! Come with me! We're getting out of here and away from this wedding!"Before I could say a word, Byron grew furious and jumped to his feet to yell at Elliot. "Elliot! Let her go! You can be a troublemaker any other day, but not at your brother's wedding. Make another scene and you'll have to answer to me!"Elli

At Joseph's words, Elliot's frown grew deeper. "What's that supposed to mean?"He glared at Joseph, who was cutting my steak, his face turning red with anger. However, his phone kept ringing, so he could only leave everything behind and rush off.His departure did not mess up what came next. Byron took a deep breath, let go of his anger, and told everyone that Joseph and I were getting married. Everyone gasped. They all thought I was head over heels for Elliot and had even tried really hard to have his baby. However, things were different now. I held Joseph's hand, and we smiled at each other. Right then, Sheila sent me a mean text. [Wendy, see? Even when your wedding's being announced, one call from me and Elliot runs to me. Your fancy family doesn't mean a thing. Elliot never loved you. You're just in the way! And the position of the Lewis family's Donna? It'll be mine!]Was that so? I laughed to myself and blocked Sheila's number. …The next week, Joseph and I got bu

I turned to see who had come in.Joseph was tall and handsome, with a deep, thoughtful look in his eyes. He caught everyone's attention the moment he walked in. Then, he gave me a warm and gentle smile.Jealousy flickered in Elliot's eyes as he stood up and said anxiously, "My brother's here. Come on, get up and sit by me!"When I did not move, Elliot came over and grabbed my wrist, saying, "I know you're upset about the ring, but I promised to get you a new one, didn't I? You're carrying my child. Don't be mad, or people will laugh at us!"I looked over at Joseph, who was approaching, and shook off Elliot's hand with an icy laugh. "People? Who are you talking about?""Wendy, stop faking it! You're making me so mad! No matter how much you beg, I'm never going to marry you!"Elliot scrunched his forehead in frustration. He was about to say more, but he stopped short when he saw Joseph's name plaque on the seat."Why? Why did Dad make a special name plaque just for him?" He looked
