Ch 15 - Oh Wise Shia

SHAY'S POV

We moved off to the kitchen, where she made me food. It wasn’t until then that I realized that I was super hungry. She explained that it was because of travelling through the barrier. Apparently if you’re not prepared for it, severe hunger is one of the after effects.

“So you actually have to be prepared to go through the barrier?” I asked.

“Yes, you have to. It is against the law to go through the barrier though. There are only four people that have ever crossed the barrier, and your mother is one of them,” she informed me.

“Did she make it back?” I asked curiously.

“I don’t know child. Like I said, your parents are missing, so no-one knows where they are,” she responded.

“Alright! Can humans actually go through the barrier?” I asked.

“No! Only supernatural creatures can go through the barrier. Even if you have a smidge of supernatural blood, you can go through,” she explained.

“What is the barrier made out of?” I giggled, remembering the ‘minerals’.

“Very powerful magic,”
