49. The Lost One!

Author's POV

"I knew you would break through bounds."

Arabella sharply turned around when she heard Egon. 

He was standing behind her with a smirk, in all his glory and black suit.  

"And why am I not dead?"

She asked.

Egon looked at her mischievously.

"I was waiting for you to wake up. Killing becomes fun."

She attacked him when his hand reached out for her throat, but soon she was thrown against the wall and fell on the floor along with a shattered vase. 

Emerald gasped when she saw how Egon could hurt if he wanted to. He was brutal. 

But when he threw Arabella against the wall, Emerald noticed something around her neck, which left her stunned for a minute. 

Arabella quickly got up, but he was quick to attack again, and this time her back hit the pillar, making her immovable due to pain.

She was skilled, no doubt, but he was one step ahead of her. 

"The bombs planted in your warehouse are in control of the Knights; you can't afford to kill me."

She groaned on the floor as Egon stood beside her.

"Naive of you to think that it will affect me at all. Haven't you done your research? Killing Spider doesn't make you smart."

He pulled out the sword which was hanging on the wall. He was going to kill Arabella, but the knight brothers would be dead. 

"You have annoyed me too much, little girl. Time for punishment."

"Do you know who I am?"

Arabella questioned, glaring confidently at his sword which was hanging over her throat. 

There was a hidden hint in her words, but he couldn't catch it. 

"Puppet of Knights, do you think I care?"

He raised his sword and was about to slice her. 

"Wait!"

Emerald screamed at the top of her lungs and rushed down the stairs even though her ankle had a heavy metal around it. 

Egon frowned at her. 

She knelt down beside Arabella and desperately checked her neck. 

"She is the one!"

She inspected her locket. 

Arabella frowned at her when she said that, not understanding what was going on and why Egon lowered his sword when he saw the locket around her neck. 

The sword in his hand felt too heavy when he realised that Arabella was no one else but his sister, no wonder she felt familiar. There was an unspoken connection between them. 

He looked at her, pulled her up on her feet, and grabbed her locket; it was his locket. It had the same dent on it, he recognised in seconds. 

The memory of that night is still fresh in his mind. His little sister who was too cute to ignore.

"Everyone loves you."

Egon sat beside her, they both were kids but he was mature for his age. Little Arabella was upset about something so he decided to talk to her. 

"Not anymore! For the last few days, I haven't seen anyone loving me. Even mom is hating me... I don't understand what my mistake is."

Arabella was looking sad and demotivated. He knew what was going on, but he couldn't explain that to a little girl. 

"You won't understand because people love you, especially your mother."

She complained and he realised how her mother is using this little girl for power. 

He hummed.

"Your mother hates you?"

"Yes! That's how it feels... I think they will abandon me soon because I am not a boy..."

She huffed. He didn't like that she was so discouraged. 

"One day I'll become stronger than any boy in this world and then they won't underestimate me." 

She said with so much determination and she became one. Now men fear to even stand in front of her. 

He held her little hand and led her towards the window, where their family flag was visible. 

Their symbol was a pack of wolves.

"Do you know what a pack of wolves mean?"

He asked and she shook my head. 

"It means unity and togetherness... Wolves never abandon their pack members... And even if anyone does that to you then I will bring you back..."

He promised her. 

"But mom says that you are my stepbrother and you can never care for me..."

She asked confused. Her mother had tried to poison the innocent mind. 

"We have the same father, so we are siblings, don't believe in rubbish things..."

He patted her head.

"Now go and sleep, it's late!" 

"You are a legal child, that's why you are a member of the pack. I am not!"

She said and he raised his eyebrows at her smartness. She was capable of thinking. 

"I don't even have the symbol."

He removed the chain from his neck, which had a wolf's pendant, and tied it around her neck.

"Now you have it too..."

The locket was worn by all family members. 

That was the last time he talked to her. 

When Egon learned that his little sister had died, he was hurt. He even tried to find her in the forest for days. Checked everywhere, thinking her mother might have hidden her somewhere, but he couldn't, he was too young for that. 

With time, he got busy in his life, but the pain was still buried deep down in his heart. He always missed her. 

Egon looked at Arabella, the grown-up woman with fire in her eyes and the courage of a lion in her heart. She really became the strongest, so strong that men think twice before standing in front of her and as she said, no one underestimates her. He couldn't even imagine how much his father would have felt proud. 

But he was not ready to believe it, Emerald was trying to find his family member, and he trusted her completely to fabricate this. She can hire any girl to act as his sister. The woman he has caged is very manipulative. 

"From where did you get this locket?"

He frowned at Arabella. 

"No, wait!"

Emerald stood between them facing Arabella. 

"Please tell me you are the same Arabella... Please tell me that you are his sister... Please!"

She begged her. 

Arabella looked at Emerald who was begging her. She couldn't understand why she was begging her so much. 

She looked at Egon who was watching her suspiciously. 

"No, I am not his sister!"

She replied confidently and broke Emerald's hope.
