Chapter 22

Ezio:

My heart ached as I stood in front of the bedroom’s door, taking a deep breath to focus on the task ahead.

I looked back at the door, debating whether or not to go inside before deciding against it. I had to leave her with her own thoughts to understand what I was trying to tell her, and despite knowing for sure that she wouldn’t understand; I hated being away from her.

I walked out of the house to find Miley waiting for me.

The bruises on her face seemed to be healing, and the swell on her eye and bottom lip was starting to heal over the past few weeks.

“Ready?” She asked. She knew to keep her limits now that her brother had his eyes on her. She couldn’t afford getting on his bad side again, and it seemed like she had done that quite a lot before he burst out the way that he did. The fear that she had in her eyes toward him was obvious, and knowing the reason, I pitied the woman.

“Yes” I said, walking past her. She walked a step behind me as we approached the new shifters. The
