Iris:

Her screams filled the air as her body burned. Her cries, pleas, and begs would be stuck in my head for a while, and I was thankful that I wasn’t forced to see her, had that been the case; I would have never been able to get over it.

I knew that it would take her a while before she was dead, and I prayed that she didn’t say anything that would endanger Ezio and I until she died. However, judging by what I could hear; the woman was yet to say anything, and was barely begging for mercy or to be set free.

Ariana sat beside me, watching a movie on her tablet as she had her headsets on, ensuring that she didn’t listen to the crying woman out in the field. It would be traumatic for her to listen to, and I wasn’t stupid as to want to trigger a child’s curiosity over questions that I knew I wouldn’t have answers to.

It was a while before her cries died down and cheers started in the pack despite the smell of burning flesh. My chest ached at the memories that played in my head about her.
