Ivara's POV

I scooted closer to the door the second I heard that voice and looked through the window.

Isagi stood outside, leaning against the car, his hair falling forward over his forehead.

He tilted his head the moment our eyes met. “You look like you’ve just seen a ghost. Are you being haunted? Should I be concerned?”

I clutched the front of my shirt, fingers twisting the fabric against my chest as I exhaled. “Oh my gosh, you scared me…” I pressed my palm flat over my face. “Oh dear goddess

  • Auctioned Bride Of The Cursed Alpha    Chapter 182: Trust Me This Once

Xlynor's POVThe other thing gnawing at me was the shift in Ivara's symptoms. Yesterday she'd been cold, constantly murmuring about it in her sleep and curling into herself like she couldn't get warm no matter what I did. But today she was burning, practically radiating heat through my own skin. It felt like she was being heated from the inside.None of it lined up. Was this the bloodshield? The residual effect of Kali's mind-core penetration? Or just an ordinary fever for whatever she was— if her kind even got those? Because this didn't feel ordinary. Heat rolled off her skin in waves, too intense to be dismissed as a simple fever.Above all, I needed her away from me before Kali called or showed up. I couldn't have a conversation with Ivara draped over me like a second skin — except getting her to let go didn't seem to be an option currently on the table.I exhaled and pulled the ice pack from her forehead, reaching for the cup instead, and guiding the straw toward her lips. Her eye

  • Auctioned Bride Of The Cursed Alpha    Chapter 181: Built Different

Xlynor's POVHer cinnamon scent had wrapped itself around every rational thought in my skull and was steadily unraveling them one by one. I needed distance. My body wasn't listening to me, my pheromones were spiking without permission, and I hated that I couldn't do anything… that I wasn't in control. To think that she wasn't even trying. She had no idea what she was doing to me.“Gosh. You've got a temper on you for someone so weak right now,” I muttered, forcing my voice to remain normal and unaffected. “Like the bed's going to swallow you whole,” I added.“It feels like I'm being cooked in a microwave,” she mumbled against my shoulder. “And that bed makes it worse. Just lay me on the floor, Xlynor… I like it better.”I stepped back from the bed instead of arguing further, and rather than lowering her to the ground, I shifted her from the cradle of my arms and up pulled her up against me properly, her legs locking around my waist, arms hooked around my neck, my own arm banding aroun

  • Auctioned Bride Of The Cursed Alpha    Chapter 180: So Hot

Xlynor's POVMy body went rigid the second I saw the stark smear of blood across my palm, and every instinct in me screamed to hide it. I tried to turn my hand away before Ivara noticed — a reflex. But she was faster. Her fingers closed around my wrist before I could pull my hand out of sight, and her gaze dropped to the blood smeared across my skin.A tiny gasp tore out of her throat. “Is that…” Her voice came out paper-thin. “Am I dying?”Panic was already clawing up my throat, but I shoved it down and forced my voice to stay light and bored. “Who knows,” I said, with a shrug I didn't feel. “Probably.”I reached past her for the cabinet beneath the drawer, pulled out a towel, and wiped my hand clean. I grabbed a second one and carefully dabbed at her lips, cleaning the blood off her lips, but by the time I looked back at her face, she had already gone still and hollow-eyed.“I…” Her breath hitched and then she gulped. “I don't want to die yet. I don't— I'm—” Her voice cracked and a

  • Auctioned Bride Of The Cursed Alpha    Chapter 179: Something Is Wrong

Xlynor's POV Ivara was on the floor by the drawer, sitting there and staring down at nothing I could see.I stopped for a second, staring at her. The duvet, sheets, and pillow had been dragged off the bed and were scattered across the floor around her, as though she'd pulled the whole bed apart trying to get up.I spotted the cold compress lying a few feet from her, and I caught my bottom lip between my teeth.Had she seen it? I hoped to every god listening that she hadn't. If I could just nudge it under the bed before she turned around—“Hey,” I said, pressing my lips together right after. “You're awake?” She didn't turn.I slowly walked up to her, angling myself so I could kick the compress out of sight. Her back was to me, so I couldn't read her expression. I didn't think much of it until I heard that low, pained groan. My brows pulled together. “McKenna?”“I'm fine.” The words dragged out of her, slurred at the edges and followed by a whimper she clearly hadn't meant to let slip.

  • Auctioned Bride Of The Cursed Alpha    Chapter 178: Domesticated

Xlynor's POV“You should be there in an hour and keep me informed, okay?” I said into the phone.“Yes, Alpha,” Zane answered from the other end.I hung up on him and dropped the phone on the counter.I was in the kitchen making breakfast while planning for the meeting with the elders and council. It was nearly eight now and Ivara hadn't so much as stirred, and I had a pack meeting in two hours, which meant I needed to get her breakfast sorted as soon as possible. What would Zane think of me if he found out I was running late because I had to make breakfast for a certain witch? It wasn’t that I wanted to cook for her; I’d simply been bored from doing nothing and Ivara also liked it when I cooked — okay, no, that wasn't it. She manipulated me into cooking. That corny woman had somehow turned me into her personal chef without either of us really agreeing to it, and the worst part was I didn't even mind. I'd folded it into my morning routine.I plated everything on the kitchen island and

Zane’s POV“Fair,” I said, crossing my arms. “But why would I believe a lowlife wretch? You might have torn those pages just to provoke my Alpha or trigger our curiosity. There's a chance there's nothing in them at all.”Eryndor met my gaze, and despite the blood crusting at the corner of his mouth, he managed something close to a smile. “Go fuck yourself, Zane. That won't work on me either. I'm the only one who read those books, and I'm the only one who knows what was in them.” His voice cracked. “Even if I lose my mind, I won't give you a damn thing.”I nodded slowly, though it was anything but agreement. I stood and walked back to the wall panel, palm hovering over the interface.“I was only giving you a chance to speak like a civilized man.” I glanced over my shoulder at him. “But I suppose we'll have to use the Malkara Lyk ourselves and find out exactly what you're hiding. Next time, learn to hide pack grimoires somewhere my Alpha can't find them.”He strained forward, mouth open

Xlynor's POVOf course, Isagi would always find a way to piss me off. Even though he knew how much I hated being called brother by him, he still did it. Always insisting that since both our mothers were demigoddesses, we were siblings.“Don’t fucking call me that,” I scowled.Isagi pouted dramatica

IVARANo, this shouldn't be happening. Not after everything I went through just to escape.“Father!” I yelled, struggling with the guards who were trying to rip my clothes off me.
