Ivara's POV

After forcing my thoughts into some kind of order and giving myself several stern pep talks, I finally worked up the nerve to head toward the walk-in closet. I still had to get dressed for this so-called breakfast outside the fortress, even though the idea of sitting across from him right now made me want to starve instead.

I could technically hide in there for a while because the closet was larger than most bedrooms, which was ridiculous, because who the hell needed that much space

Ivara's POVI stared at Xlynor, speechless and thoroughly flabbergasted. When exactly had he learned to talk this much, and worse, why was everything that came out of his mouth so wildly inappropriate?“You shut up, okay?” I rolled my eyes and tried yanking my hand free, but he didn't loosen his grip even slightly. He shrugged. “Fine, if you insist.” Then, without missing a beat, he continued. “But what I'm trying to say is we'll be doing a lot of kissing going forward, so there's no point being awkward about it every time. Get used to it. And yes—it's Xlynor. Don't irritate me with the title.” He looked at me with finality.I stared at him in disbelief. “Sure speaks very highly of your morals and principles, Alpha.” I emphasized the title. “I'm embarrassed on your behalf.”He let go of my wrist, only to cradle the side of my face instead, fingers curling near my neck while his thumb swept slowly across my cheekbone as he tilted my chin up toward him. “Funny that you assume I have mor

Ivara's POVI was so stunned by Xlynor’s words that I froze. My eyes snapped up to meet his before darting straight back down. “Wh… what?”“What?” His expression stayed perfectly blank. “I thought we were playing names now.”I nearly squeezed my eyes shut. Of course he'd do that. But why did he have to be like this now, of all moments? And worse, he didn't even look like he was joking. He straightened, his tone shifting. “How do you feel?”I blinked. How did I feel? I had no idea. Maybe flustered? Mortified? On the verge of combusting? Currently reconsidering every decision that led me to this position? Ugh.“Fi—fine,” I managed, the word stumbling out in two broken pieces. He reached out and pressed the back of his hand to my forehead. I stepped away so fast I nearly tripped. “I'm fine," I repeated, then pressed my lips together. Why wouldn't he just let me leave? Oh goddess I was going to faint. I could feel myself trembling, teetering right on the edge of some full-body collapse.H

I still had to get dressed for this so-called breakfast outside the fortress, even though the idea of sitting across from him right now made me want to starve instead.I could technically hide in there for a while because the closet was larger than most bedrooms, which was ridiculous, because who the hell needed that much space for clothes? The problem was that there wasn’t a single good hiding spot in the entire place. Even with the dark walls and recessed lighting, everything was arranged with military precision. It felt more like a high-end boutique than a closet.Xlynor seemed to find disorder offensive. I, on the other hand, didn’t care. Most of the clothes in the closet were black, with varying shades and textures, all immaculate. The only color came from my side, and even that was barely noticeable.Xlynor had

Ivara's POVThe phone began buzzing against the vanity, loud and persistent enough to be impossible to ignore.“Damn it.” Xlynor pressed his forehead to my collarbone, forcing himself to stop. His shoulders were so tense it looked like he might actually pick up the phone just to smash it, but some small, stubborn scrap of sense must have stopped him.I bit my lower lip. ““I think… you should answer that,” I said, managing to get the words out.“Yeah,” he murmured. He pulled back just enough to look me in the eye. For a second, he stared at me as though he needed to know whether the last ten minutes had happened to both of us or only him.I pushed lightly against his chest, trying to put some distance between us, but he caught my hand instead, brought my knuckles to his mouth and pressed his lips against them before I could stop him. The gesture stunned me so badly that I yanked my hand away, nearly overbalancing in the process. He opened his mouth like he wanted to say something, then

Ivara's POVXlynor's mouth moved lower, his lips kissing and nibbling as though he couldn't leave a single inch of skin untouched. He didn’t even seem to be trying to stop himself.I could feel every soft, wet press of his lips, every slow drag of his tongue, and every restless stroke of his hands on my skin. My head fell back without my permission, giving him more access while my eyes stayed shut. The only things that existed were his mouth against my skin, his hands roaming every inch of my body, and the heat of his body pressing into mine.Nobody had ever touched me like this. Not even Adrian. Adrian had always kept a careful, respectful distance, although it had been more pretense than genuine restraint. Perhaps it was because of the boundaries I'd set. With him, the kisses had been polite. Nothing like what Xlynor and I had shared, and certainly nothing like this.I'd read about stuff like this. I'd heard people talk about it. Somehow, none of it had prepared me for the actual ex

Xlynor's POVI couldn't breathe properly. I couldn't think. Not even a single coherent thought. Ivara was kissing me. She was fucking kissing me of her own volition, like she had decided and damn the consequences— no medicine forcing her hand, no order, nothing but her own two feet lifting her up to reach me.My mind went hazy, and my head felt light. Whatever sense I still had left just short-circuited on the spot, leaving me with only one coherent fact: her mouth was against mine, and she was holding my neck like she intended to keep me there.I wouldn't have believed this was happening if I wasn't standing inside it. I would never have believed she would actually do something like this. Even with her mouth in mine, part of me still couldn't process it.This addictive, intoxicating woman was kissing me. Had she lost her mind?I'd noticed something strange in her eyes earlier while talking to her. They hadn't been quite steady. In fact, they had been different. I'd noticed it—somethi
