Xlynor's POV

She sat up, then pulled me into a sitting position, her brows pinched together.

She touched the cut on my lower lip with the tips of her fingers, then she moved to my brow. I probably had a cut there too, because she dabbed it with the hem of her sleeve.

I didn’t even feel it. It must’ve happened when my mouth hit her head during the fall and we rolled over.

“This is all your fault. Why would you lean so close to me? I just wake up and the first thing I see is your face right in mi

Xlynor's POVThe small bulbs lit up the space, just enough for me to see what I was doing, as I stood in the kitchen, hands moving on autopilot.I was drained—bone-deep and very exhausted. Healing the cut on my palm last night had taken more out of me than I expected. I guess it was because I had to deal with Barkow and the others— stopping them from hurting Isagi.Channeling enough energy to hold back my demons left me weak, so I handed the rest of the evening’s duties to Zane and returned to the castle. But I couldn’t understand why I was in the kitchen—cooking. The problem wasn't me cooking, it was that I wasn't just cooking anything, everything I made required effort, precision, attention, and patience—things I currently lacked.I could have had the palace maids deliver something decent, but because the moment that little menace had looked me in the eye and specifically said she wanted something “tasty,” some arrogant, stupid part of me wanted to impress her.Or maybe, I had alrea

Xlynor's POVOf course, Isagi would always find a way to piss me off. Even though he knew how much I hated being called brother by him, he still did it. Always insisting that since both our mothers were demigoddesses, we were siblings.“Don’t fucking call me that,” I scowled.Isagi pouted dramatically. “You don’t have to be so mean about it. What would our mothers say when they look down on their children fighting each other, brother?”I didn’t bother replying with words. With a flick of my finger, the discarded dagger hurtled toward him at lethal speed. He dodged it by a hair’s breadth and burst out laughing.“Your anger issues have worsened,” he said, rising and smoothing his coat.“No surprise.”“So tell me—who is this Ivara? I think I’ve heard a lot about her in just the two days I’ve been here. I’m curious.” Isagi's eyes gleamed.I ignored the question. “Why are you in Dark Hound? The last time I checked, I invited King Avon, not his useless excuse of a son.”Isagi laughed again,

Xlynor's POVThe noise of the festival faded behind me as I slipped away from the royal pavilion, trailing Isagi's scent. His scent was faint and difficult to track. He’d used masking spells, blended into the environment, and scattered false scents and presences around the woods. The fact that the dimwit was too good at hiding only pissed me off more. He knew I'd come here, he knew I'd come after him the second I found out he had disappeared, so he made tracking him take more concentration than it should have.He was being corny, and trying to get under my skin like he always did.But as I moved deeper into the woods, I felt a slick presence, trying to merge with the woods while following me closely.I stopped as my eyes scanned the area. I knew I was being followed, but Isagi's spells had messed with the scents and presence.I crouched low, then placed my palm on the floor, trying to be one with the earth. Suddenly, I caught sight of a dagger flying towards me from the corner of my ey

Xlynor's POVThe arena grounds were already packed by the time my chariot arrived. I could hear the roar of the crowd across the vast festival grounds.Guards flanked me in perfect formation, while Zane walked beside me. It was day two of the Lunari Festival, and today was dedicated to agility and strength—brutal competitions between packs under Dark Hound’s rule. The festival’s original name was Lunari—sacred to the moon—but most people called it the Wolf Hunt Festival because that was the grandest event of the week.“How many hours is this again?” I turned to Zane.“Uh… we’re not really sure. It’s estimated to last four to five hours,” Zane replied.I groaned. “You’ve got to be kidding. It’s almost midnight, and we're just starting.”I had no real interest in the fights and displays of power, talent, skill, and rank. It was all a glorified competition where wolves tore at each other for pride, territorial favor, and the right to boast for the next year, but custom demanded my presen

I just wake up and the first thing I see is your face right in mine. Now look what happened.” She fussed, eyes still full of concern.“Wait!” She pulled back, a scowl spreading on her face. It seemed like she had just realized what she was doing. “Why aren't you healing? You're a werewolf, you’re supposed to heal, aren’t you?”My mind snagged on the words. She was right. The cuts should have already healed, so why hadn’t they?I glanced up at her, then it hit me. She was doing whatever it was she usually did without even knowing.Without thinking or consideri

Xlynor's POVI leaned back against the kitchen island the moment Ivara left, pressing my palm against my face. What the hell was wrong with me?First, I felt a spark of genuine pride when I caught her scent at the banquet—proud that my little bird had escaped so quickly and cleverly. Then the realization of what she had really done, and how stupid it was—dawned on me, and I got angry. She literally went against me, then slapped me as if she hadn’t committed enough offenses already.I intended to punish her properly, to teach her that actions had consequences. But I couldn’t do it.For some twisted reason, her slap hadn’t even felt disrespectful… in fact, it stirred something within me. But then it was still wrong. And even when I wanted to punish her, the thought of it made me uncomfortable. So instead, I dumped her in the woods… only to immediately regret it.Yes, I pretended to have left, but I didn't. I stayed hidden, watching her as she curled up under that tree and cried like the

Ivara's POVI spun around, then fell to the floor in shock. Why did that sound a lot like Xlynor? Like he was behind me. And it sounded way too real. Was I beginning to get delusional? He wasn’t here, was he?The lights came on and my breath hitched. How did that happen? Did I mistakenly trigger som
