"I, Alpha Mateo County, reject you, Olivia Sanders, you are no longer regarded as my mate." He spat the words to my face.I felt inner pain in my chest, and I knew the mating bond we shared had been broken. I looked him straight in the eyes, I couldn't explain his emotions but all I knew was that they burned like hell.Even if you're asking me what and why he was telling me this, I literally have no idea what had caused this moment to happen."Why?" I cried, my heart holding my chest from the pain. "Why would you reject me, Mateo? What have I done to deserve this?"He frowned. "Is that a question I am to answer? Why would someone like me need a weak, useless, and worthless omega like you as a mate? You don't deserve me, you don't fit to be in my life! So, do yourself the favor and accept my rejection."Why would I accept his rejection when it was only a few days before our wedding? If he had from the onset didn't find me fit, why didn't he tell me beforehand? Why did he make me believe he loved me more than anyone?I thought I had found home with Mateo, I thought I had it all with him in my life. But guess I was wrong. He had never for once loved me."Please, Mateo, you can't do this to me. You can't just reject me like that. You know how much I loved you, how much I want us to be together.Remember, our wedding is only a few days and–""A few days?" He scoffed, and his frown deepened. "I choose when to get married to you, I picked the day and dared myself. So, I have every right to cancel without your approval."I honestly don't know if I could cope with this, but as much as I wanted to believe this was my imagination playing games on me, reality kept speaking to me.Even in my solitude moment, Mateo felt unmoved by my tears. I pleaded, I tried my best to make him understand that without him in my life, I have no idea of how to cope with life. But the expression on his face told me that none of my pleading had anything to do with me and that I was only wasting my tears on nothing."You're wasting your time, Olivia, my words are final and I can't reverse it."I could see the boldness and sincerity in his words, and I knew staying here any longer was a loss to me. I stood up from the ground I knelt, wiping the tears off my face and I gazed into his dark eyes."Fine. I accept your rejection, and I accept our fate." I finally said even though the words weren't from my heart. But...what can I do?He smirked in approval, walking out of the room.Hot tears clouded my eyes, the moment I heard the sound of the door closing, I felt those tears stream down my cheeks. The pain of heartbreak filled me, and I wanted everything to get off my mind.I couldn't. I just couldn't bear the pain!It was too much for me to bear, too much to handle. Why? Why would fate be so cruel to me?As I walked through the street with my mind still reeling from what had happened, I decided I needed a drink. I turned into a small alley and found myself outside a bar. It looked dark and tatty, but I didn't care. I just wanted to forget everything over a drink.I opened the door and walked inside. The air was thick with smoke and the smell of alcohol. I found a seat at the corner of the bar and ordered a drink, not caring what it would be served. As I sat there, nursing my heartbreak, I felt someone watching me. I turned around and saw a man staring at me. He had a cold, calculating look in his eyes, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. But I ignored him and turned back around, determined not to let him ruin my night. But he wouldn't leave me alone. He kept staring at me, making me increasingly uncomfortable. Finally, I had enough. I turned to him and said, "What do you want?”He stood up and walked over to my table. He leaned In close, his breath hot on my neck."I want you,” he said, his voice low and threatening.I felt a wave of panic wash over me. I tried to stand up, but he put his hand on my shoulder, keeping me in place. "You're not going anywhere,” he spat."I think you and I are going to have some fun tonight. Don't you?” he whispered with underlying threats in his voice.I felt my heart racing at his words. I tried to think of a way to escape, but my mind was frozen with fear.My body shook as the man tightened his grip on my shoulder, and I could smell alcohol on his breath. He was so close that I could feel the heat from his body. I wanted to scream, but I couldn't make a sound out of the anxiety. And then, something inside of me snapped. A surge of anger and fear welled up, and I knew I had to fight back. Before he could do anything further, I brought my elbow up and slammed it into his stomach. He grunted in pain and released his grip.I ran towards the door. I could hear him shouting, but I didn't stop. I pushed open the door and ran out into the street, gasping for breath. I could hear footsteps coming behind me and I knew I had to get away.I ran down the street with my heart pounding in my chest. But then, a soft cloth was pressed over my face, and I inhaled a sickly sweet scent. I tried to scream, but it was too late, I blacked out.Author's pov "No!" Olivia's answered flatly. "I don't understand, no what?" Carlos asked her feeling surprised. "No, I will not marry you!" Olivia repeated with a note of finality in her voice."Why can't you marry me?" Carlos asked her feeling hurt by the constant rejection he was always getting from Olivia. "Look Carlos, I have told you before that there is no space for love in my heart right now, I appreciate your friendship and your help and concern but you see anything more than pure platonic friendship, I don't want it." Olivia asserted. Carlos worries about the rejection like a mask on his face. He could not hide it and it hurt him badly but he still tried to convince Olivia knowing fully well that there was nothing more that he was going to say that would change her mind."See Olivia, this is not even about love or marriage, this goes beyond yourself, you have to think of your child here..." Carlos tried explaining. "That's exactly what I am doing! Everything I am doing
Author's POV.Olivia was about to take a sip of the juice when her boss suddenly flung the glass from her hand. The glass of orange juice fell to the floor and shattered. Olivia flinched and stared at her boss in shock and confusion."Why did you do that?" Olivia asked. Her boss heaved a sigh of relief and shook her head."Nothing," She replied."I don't understand, you must have done that for a reason," Olivia muttered, a bit suspicious of her behavior. "I added some brown sugar which isn't too natural...and I don't know if you are allergic to it. Since you are an omega, you could be prone to different allergies and I didn't want to give you something that would make you more sick," Her boss lied. Olivia never thought she could harm her, so didn't suspect her intentions further. "Oh okay," Olivia beamed at her. "I'm not allergic to anything. I can eat whatever I have but thank you for your concern," Her boss forced a smile on her lips and nodded. "Let me clean this up," Olivia s
Author's POV.When Carlos left Olivia's room, she felt a little relieved that he was going to take her place. Although she was still bothered about her boss' reaction, she didn't want to overthink it.Olivia let out a heavy sigh and slowly closed her eyes to sleep. As she was about to get drawn into utter darkness, a knock came on the door interrupting her sleep. She flinched a little and snapped her eyes open. She rubbed her eyes gently, feeling bewildered by the knock."Come in,"The door creaked open and Olivia saw her boss walking into her room. Her eyes bulged in surprise and she quickly sat up despite the dizziness that immediately overwhelmed her."Oh," She whimpered, taking her hand to her head."Hey, why did you get up like that?" her boss asked with a forced smile on her lips."Ma'am, I'm sorry for not working. I am not feeling well and the pregnancy is taking a toll on me. I know that I have no right to rest and expect a payment but please pity me," Olivia said in one breat
Author's POV. The next morning wasn't the best for Olivia. She had been feeling nauseous since she awakened and the dizziness she felt was stopping her from leaving the bed. Despite attempting to stand several times, she was weakened each time by the dizziness."My head hurts," Olivia lamented, taking her hand to her forehead. "Why is it hurting this bad, gosh!" she complained. She placed her other hand on her stomach and rubbed it gently."Baby, give Mommy a little rest," Olivia pleaded. "I can't work like this, my boss is angry enough. I don't want her to get more annoyed with me," Olivia muttered and turned restlessly in bed.As she faced the wall, Dante came to her mind."I'm sure that he's enjoying his life, while I'm here suffering," She uttered thoughtlessly, but then she remembered how sick Dante was.She suddenly became worried about his health and how he had been faring since she left him. A part of her felt guilty for leaving him in that state but her mind was telling h
Author's pov "What?" Olivia exclaimed, surprised by what her boss had just suggested."You heard me right, you cannot keep the baby!" Her boss insisted."And why is that? Why would you suggest such a wicked act that I should kill an innocent baby." Olivia bemoaned."Olivia, you have to be reasonable! You are in no position to keep a baby! Who would take care of the baby? How will you feed and clothe the baby? Do you think taking care of a newborn baby is a walk in the park? You can barely even fend for yourself and now you want to add another mouth to feed? And what if the worst happens and you end up giving birth to twins or triplets?" Her boss asked Olivia trying to reason with her.Olivia thought about what her boss had just told her for some time and tried to consider it but then she put her hands on her stomach and gasped. How could she think of doing that to an innocent baby who did nothing wrong?"No! I will not! I will keep my baby, even if I have to beg to feed myself and th
Author's pov "What? I don't get it, you want us to kill Dante?" Anna asked Mateo in shock. "Yes and also to take over his properties," Mateo answered nonchalantly. "So when we succeed in killing Dante, who is going to take over his properties?" Anna asked Mateo."What kind of stupid question is that? Who else would it be if not me?" Mateo asked Anna back and it was clear that he was beginning to get irritated by the question. "So what happens to me and my son? What would be our share in it?" Anna asked, choosing to ignore Mateo's irritation. She was fighting for her and her son's future so she was not ready to act soft and naive before Mateo. Anna knew that Dante did not love her nor did he come to trust her but she knew that she and her son's future was more secure with Dante than with Mateo whom she had come to know as a very selfish and self-centered person. She was not ready to risk her and her son's bright and settled future to please someone as condescending and disrespect
