Se connecterROMAN'S POV:I stared at the phone which had gone dead in my hand, and without thinking, I flung it to the wall where it shattered into a million pieces helplessly. I turned to Charlene, and at that moment, I wanted to kill her. As I made my way towards her, Paul came in between us, putting a lid on my already boiling temper. “Allow me to kill this good for nothing woman, Paul! Why, Charlene? Since Nyssa came into this household, all you've done is persecute her for a crime she has not committed. I never loved you, Charlene, and you knew this before you even moved in with me. You only needed a narrative to hate Nyssa, and now you have it.”I continued, swallowing hard. “Are you satisfied now? Do you know who Mr Walkman is? This is a man who has Mafia relations as far as France. How I'm I supposed to deal with such a man, huh? How do you even think I can go into his estate without getting killed?”Paul held me closely as I screamed at the top of my voice. “Boss, killing Charlene
ROMAN'S POV:I ran out of my study, acting purely on instinct. I got to Charlene's red convertible in time before she pulled it out of the garage. And without caring, I pulled my Glock from the waistband of my trouser, then pointed it directly at the windscreen of the car. “Get out of the car, Charlene. I want your hands where I can see them.”She stopped the car and opened the door slowly, the confusion evident on her face. Even Paul, who stood about a foot from me, stared at me as if I had gone mad. I didn't know what I was doing at that moment, but I felt strongly that it was right, so I continued anyway. “What's this, Roman?”I pointed the gun at her now, then gestured to the house with it.“Get back into the house.” When she hesitated briefly, I barked at her, my voice a growl. “Now!”She walked to the house slowly, her hands still in the air. Paul walked closer to me with the air of a man who was about to object, but seeing my countenance, quickly changed his mind. I kept m
NYSSA'S POV:I stared at my mother for more clarification, but she moved backwards, and the older man whom I now knew was definitely Mr Walkman came forward. He smiled at me as his hands found my chin. I struggled to move away, but the ropes reminded me that I wasn't even in charge of my own movements. “Good evening, Nyssa Dimitri. I'm guessing this is the first time we're meeting. I can't lie, I love what I'm seeing.”He turned to Hugh, who maintained a straightforward face, and I glanced at him, wondering if he had ever loved me or he was grooming me for his father. “You didn't tell me she was this beautiful, Hugh. She's exceptional. Just what I love.”I glanced at the woman who was no longer my mother, and she looked away, the guilt eating her up. “How are you?”Disgusted, I spat on him, watching the spittle land on his face. He smiled at me, grabbing a handkerchief from his pocket and wiping his face while he ordered the men who were ready to jump at me and start disciplining
NYSSA'S POV:As soon as darkness fell, I heard the engine of a car pull up next to the garage. I struggled against the ropes that bound me to the pillar once more, swearing inwardly as I fought for my freedom. In the past year, my life had gone from one unexpected twist to another. How did I just leave Roman Adams and now I was being kidnapped by Hugh, a boyfriend who I was sure I had left in the past? What did he have to gain by kidnapping me?The stranger who had been in charge of me approached, this time with two other men by his side. He pulled the rope off my mouth, then smiled at me. “It's time, woman. You're coming with us.”“Where…where are you taking me? I demand to know where I am being taken!”The two men who followed him loosened the ropes that bound me, then raised me to my feet. I wriggled impatiently in an attempt to be free from the harshness of their hands as they held me in place, but it was in vain. The stranger in charge retrieved a pack of cigarettes from his
ROMAN'S POV:I entered the room I shared with Charlene then stopped dead in my tracks when I noticed the packed boxes and luggages in the center of the room. She stood next to the window, looking out, deep in thought. If she had seen me or if she observed that there was another presence in the room with her, she didn't acknowledge it. “I'm leaving. I want to give you the chance to do what you've always wanted.”I slipped my hands into the pockets of the robe I had on my body, then leaned onto the wardrobe. “What do you mean by what I've always wanted?”She turned to me, and on her red face, I could see the anger all over it. “Oh, don't give me that ignorant look, Roman. Do you think I'm a fool? Do you think I didn't notice how changed you became after New York City? How you didn't even see me, how you slept in the study. You weren't just looking for her, something had happened between the two of you in New York. You really take me for a fool if you think I've not noticed!”I shru
NYSSA'S POV:My eyes opened slowly as I scanned my environment and the events of the past few hours came rushing back to me. My head began to pound fiercely as I came to the slow realization that I was against a wall and my hands were well and securely tied to it. I tried to wriggle free but gave up almost immediately because it was impossible. I looked around, observing the cobwebs and the dirt in the room. It looked like an old and abandoned garage. There were rusted tools in a corner, and in the middle of the room was a car that was covered with a dirty cloth which had once been white but was nearly black in colour at the moment. Who was the man who had attacked me in the backseat of the taxi? What was I doing in a dirty garage?I was still trying to wrap my head around my whereabouts when a man entered the room. He held a revolver in one hand, and had a baseball cap covering his face. “She's awake.”When it seemed as if his message hadn't been relayed properly, he said it agai
