DUNCAN "April." I said calling softly as I stood in front of her door. An eerie silence met me back making me knock softly as I called her one last time. She didn't still respond. I turned around about to leave when I stopped. I had heard from one of the wolf guards that April had not left her room all day and I was worried. She must be weak probably from the pregnancy. Dropping the tray of food I had brought, I put it down in front of her door. It was her favorite dish and I knew it was what she was going to be craving. I turned around to leave once more when suddenly, I stopped. I couldn't feel her through our mating bond. She wasn't in her room. " April!" I yelled instantly reaching out struggling with the door. The door refused to open and I was forced to break it. F**k, I was right. Looking around, I checked everywhere making sure she wasn't in the bathroom. A few seconds later, I walked down the stairs hurrying as my wolf hurried me to find her. " Wolf King.
APRIL "Pregnant?" I gasped as I held the ultrasound and the result in my hands staring at the pack doctor. I couldn't believe it. " You are two months pregnant. I think the reason you didn't know was because you were very stressed. You have to take it easy now, Wolf Queen." A smile formed on my face as I stared at the results one more time. I couldn't wait to tell Duncan the news. I could feel the bond strengthened over the last few weeks. Duncan had been spending time with me, both of us exchanging naughty glances and passing secret notes. He said he wanted to get to know me. " I can't for Duncan to hear the news. Thank you so much." I said happily. A few minutes later, I walked into the house to find Duncan. We had agreed yesterday to meet in the maze behind the house but he wasn't there. I headed up to his room to look for him but he wasn't there either. Walking down the stairs, my eyes landed on Melissa as she came. She was halfway through the hallway, clutching
MELISSA Seeing Duncan and April kissing in the garden made my blood boil. I couldn't forget it. I had come a long way working my way into Duncan's heart from the beginning and I was supposed to expose his curse. Only a few people knew not the entire pack. I wanted everyone to know what their so called Wolf King was nothing but a fake. First, I had to make him break his bond. " You said you were going to end him. Is this how you and your coven do your things?" I asked staring at Kaelric. Kaleric's double stepped out from the shadows. Unlike the Vampire king, Caden, he was far weaker but could still get the job done. I had attempted to take Duncan's medicines hoping it would be enough for Kaleric's coven to finish the job. They couldn't. " We have been working for a long time. You know what you need to do. Taking his medicines won't be enough." Kaleric said making me roll my eyes. " April is always around him. I want her gone. Kill her if you have to." I said angrily.
DUNCAN The dreams...They had gotten even more frequent in the last couple of days. Damon had filled me in on things but I couldn't believe it. I couldn't remember anything yet there was a beautiful woman that I just couldn't get out of my mind. She was in my dreams, in my mind as if my wolf was urging me like the rest of the people to remember her. April. She was seating outside in th garden again. Lately, she moved around the house pretending not to be affected by my affection towards Melissa. Wasn't she my mate? How could she not be affected? "My love," Melissa's voice echoed in my ears as she walked in taking my attention off April. "I made you some cookies. Just the way you like it." I smiled leaning in to kiss her as she dropped them. I was madly in love with Melissa. Always had been. Her father was a loyal werewolf general that had helped me keep my grandmother and Emmett at bay. I also fell in love with Melissa after seeing how kind and understanding she was.
" The true love of your life is Melissa?" I asked repeating his words as tears filled my eyes. Duncan couldn't remember me so he had no idea how much I was hurting watching him defend Melissa and take care of her. Melissa smiled as if she had won. She was enjoying every second of my heartbreak. "You're nothing but a surrogate. That's what we bought you for. Or perhaps, do you have feelings for me?" Duncan asked staring at me intensely. "Did you hear that, Omega?" Melissa mocked smiling as she stood in Duncan's arms. I clenched my hand tightly into a ball trying to stop myself from telling him the truth. It wouldn't do me any good to tell him what I have already said a million times. He didn't remember me and there was nothing I could do "You're right. That's what you bought me for." I said nodding my head. "But I am your mate. You need me to keep your wolf in control. Your darling Melissa cannot do that." I said turning around to leave. ******************************
My wolf’s power came out strong once more, blasting everyone in the room. Duncan’s grandmother and Melissa fell to the ground, both of them spitting out blood. Gasps echoed around me. The guards froze, unsure of what to do. The entire room was filled with the raw energy I had released. My chest rose and fell, my hands trembling as I looked down at them. No matter what I had to protect Duncan and his title. “I said no,” I repeated, my voice deeper now, laced with my wolf’s fury. Melissa crawled back. “She… she’s not normal,” she whispered as her eyes lit up filled with fear. “Her power. That power. It's not just from a wolf.” “She’s dangerous,” Duncan’s grandmother growled, struggling to her feet, blood trailing from the corner of her mouth. “No,” I said coldly. “I am what the moon goddess made me to be. The true Wolf Queen.” A low groan came from the bed catching everyone's attention. Everyone turned. Duncan stirred, his body shifting weakly as he gasped for air. Hi
APRIL "Help!" The voice was low. Barely above a whisper yet I could hear it. I had been in my room when I suddenly heard it. Something stirred in me and my heart ached. Suddenly, my eyes widened as I realized who it was. Duncan. I rushed out of my room running up the stairs. It was not the full moon neither was anyone attacking. What was happening to Duncan? Without a single thought, I headed to his room. Just as I was about to reach there, Emmett appeared out of nowhere. His eyes glared wolf as he tried to stop me but I wasn't having it. I needed to go and save Duncan. "Get out of my way." I warned angrily as I stared at him. " Wolf Queen," He mocked. "You are not getting in my way this time. No one is going to save that miserable wolf." "Duncan is my mate. If you want to harm him, you're going to have to go through me first." I said gritting my teeth as I stared at him. Both of us stood glaring at each other. Emmett had his wolf already to the surface but I did
DUNCAN I stared at the pictures that Melissa had given me. It was April standing with a man that I barely recognized. His face was covered with a black cloak so I couldn't see it and plus April was standing in front of him. I turned to April slightly checking her reaction as she saw them. She didn't flinch or anything. Melissa stared at me intensely as if she was waiting for me to get angry. I knew better than to give her what she wanted. " This is not April." I said denying it even if the evidence was right in front of me. My wolf growled angrily wanting answers as I wanted. She was my mate. Mine. She shouldn't be with any other man. " Duncan, you can't be serious." Melissa said scoffing at me as if I was a fool. "I just told you that your mate was with another man. The pictures are proof." " These pictures must be fake, Melissa. I have always known that you are jealous. You want me back. However insulting my mate is something I will never tolerate. She is not a cheate
"Rogues?" I whispered as panic coiled in my stomach. I was without a wolf now so I could not change or defend myself. Rogues were dangerous. Dangerous because once you were beaten by them, there was a huge possiblity you might not survive. They were stronger than most werewolves, more faster. " Who sent you? What do you want?" I asked staring at them as they circled me slowly entrapping me with no way to run. One of them snarled, baring yellowed teeth, his eyes glowing with a wild hunger. He looked more beast than man, his clothes torn and stained with old blood. The others were no better. They all had red eyes and scary looking faces. They didn’t answer. Instead, the tallest one stepped forward, his bare feet silent on the damp forest floor. His presence was suffocating. Power rolling off him like he was dangerous. "Wolf Queen, don't blame us. It's your fault for getting entangled with Duncan Blackwood." He said snarling as he talked. Duncan? Were they here becau
