AIDEN’s POV.

The moment she took a step away from me, I hated myself in that moment. Maybe I shouldn’t have told her, maybe I should have kept it to myself and she wouldn’t have this look in her eyes right now.

Without another word, she turned around and made her way out of the room leaving me to myself and my thoughts.

“The fuck!!” I hissed under my breath as the door closed behind her, my fingers raked through my hair and I let out a frustrated sigh.

“Maybe you shouldn’t have told her” my wolf advised and I groaned in frustration, I actually shouldn’t have told her yet. I was waiting for her to heal but somehow I became a blabbermouth when my feelings were involved.

“You are an asshole, Aiden” I muttered to myself as I hurried out of the room. From the hallway, I could see her on the balcony. Part of me wanted to go meet her but the other part didn’t want to stress her out more than necessary.

“Maybe you should give her time,” my wolf suggested and I agreed. I dropped a whole lot on

SELENA’s POV.That was bad of me, acting that way with him when the only thing he has ever done for me was be there for me. But he dropped a whole lot on me, he dropped something I was not expecting on me. How could he say he loved me? Me? I had nothing to offer him. I was nothing but a broken and damaged person, I couldn’t offer him anything.Aiden deserved the best, he deserved everything good and amazing, not someone like me who couldn’t even keep my own home. The more I thought about it, the more the pain in my heart intensified but I kept my cool. Aiden deserved everything and I had nothing to actually offer him. So instead of doing anything foolish, I should shut everything out now.“Do you really want to shut him out?” My wolf asked as I walked towards the car. I didn’t respond to her but she already knew my answer.I saw when he left earlier, I didn’t want to involve myself with him and his ex fiancé but from the way he spoke, I knew Aiden wouldn’t lie to me. He didn’t have an

SELENA’s POV.For the next few days, the hair on my neck was on edge. That day at the library was still etched in my head, I couldn't shake it off but I haven’t told Aiden about it. First of all, the ability of me to recognize him was something else. I have read books, I knew everything I needed to know about wolves and shapeshifters but what I also knew was the fact that only a high breed wolf can identify another who was trying too hard to be human.I didn’t know my identity but it has become a bother now—I wanted to know so I would be able to decipher what was going on.My thoughts were cut short when a knock came on my door and I raised my head to meet his gaze—Aiden. My face instantly broke into a small smile as I pushed the thoughts to the back of my head. I didn’t want Aiden to find out another yet until I was finally able to find out the truth.“What’s going on?” He asked as he plopped down on the space beside me, “a dollar for your thought?”“I’m okay” I replied, “just trying

KOURTNEY’s POV.Damian looked like he had just heard the most bizarre thing but I was serious about it. Only when he stops looking for my ex husband will I be free because at this point, Damian was fighting a lost battle. I didn’t want Arturo to be found, I didn’t want to have to do things again to shut him up. It was going to be difficult for me knowing he was nothing but an asshole but this man thinks it’s actually okay to do that.“What do you mean?” Damian asked, pushing himself against the table. He had a slight frown on his face but I didn’t care. As long as he promised not to look for Arturo again, then I was ready to forgive him for what his mother did. That lady!! She annoyed the hell out of me but I wasn’t going to hold her to ransom yet, when I was finally married to her son then I would settle the scores.“You heard me, Damian”“Why?”“Because I don’t want to relive that memory again” I lied through my teeth like it was the truth, “fuming him and bringing him back is like

DAMIAN’s POV.I had just finished a meeting when a knock sounded on the office door. Tension had been crawling under my skin all morning—too many strange things happening in the packhouse ever since Selena left. As if her absence had pulled a thread loose, and everything else began unraveling. The knock came again.“Come in,” I said.Marcus stepped inside looking like he’d gone a round with a damn mountain. Bruised jaw, split lip. No one in this pack could do that to him except me—and I certainly hadn’t.“What happened to your face?” I asked, pushing my laptop aside. “Who did that?”“Aiden.”My pulse spiked. Aiden? Here?“How is that even possible? Did he come into my territory? Where is he now?”Marcus dropped into the chair opposite me, seething.“I tracked Arturo’s scent to Kingston. I also saw Selena there. In a bookstore.”My heart slammed once—hard—but I kept my expression bored, neutral.“She’s strong enough to go out now?” I asked coolly.“She was there with Aiden.”My hand ti

SELENA’s POV.Ten minutes earlier.Aiden was on the phone a few shelves away. I kept scanning the books, picking one after another. I loved this bookstore. Quiet. Warm. Everything I needed was here. My excitement buzzed through me. I told myself last night I would restart my classes, focus, and help people. Today was the start.I reached for a book on traditional Chinese medicine when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I spun around. Marcus. My heart skipped. I didn’t expect him here.“You?” I whispered.“Can we talk?” he asked. Before I could answer, he grabbed my hand and pulled me toward a corner, away from Aiden.I yanked my hand free. Confusion and caution surged.“Why are you here? Did you follow me?” I crossed my arms.“How are you? Really. Are you healed?”“What are you doing here, Marcus? Did you come just to ask that?”Seeing him dragged up memories I had buried. Hospital visits, Damian, Kourtney. Pain I tried to forget.“You should leave,” I said. “I don’t want to talk to y
