ALORA'S POV

001

The setting sun painted the sky in hues of amber and violet as I walked home from the supermarket. The plastic bags in my hands cut into my palms, but I barely noticed.

Life with Ryan wasn’t perfect after I left my father's house, my mother begged me not to leave but I did.

Ryan and i didn't have much. We scraped by on my earnings as an author, stretching every dollar, but it was enough. We were enough. We had a roof over our heads, food on the table, and love—wasn’t that what mattered?

I climbed the porch steps and reached for the door, but something made me pause. A glint of black caught my eye.

A pair of black heels sat by the entrance.

I frowned. Those weren’t mine.

My grip on the grocery bags tightened.

Ryan had company, but that made no sense. He knew how I felt about unexpected guests, especially women.

I pushed the door open, stepping inside.

The first place my eyes landed on was the table.

A pair of panties lay draped over the edge, delicate lace with tiny heart-shaped designs.

My stomach dropped.

I knew those panties.

Not because they were mine—because they weren’t.

Ryan had bought me a similar pair months ago, but these were a different size. A different fit. Not mine. Someone else’s.

My gaze quickly snapped to the bedroom door, slightly ajar as muffled sounds trickled through the crack—soft, breathless gasps mixed with deep, guttural groans.

My blood ran cold.

Just then a high-pitched moan escaped from the room.

"Oh yes, Ryan! Don’t stop!"

My entire body locked up.

No, I whispered to myself

My mind rebelled against what I was hearing, but the proof was all around me.

"Ugh, that’s so good. Keep going," Ryan’s voice rumbled—deep, familiar, unmistakable.

I staggered forward, my heart pounding against my ribcage like it was trying to escape.

I reached the door. Stopped. My hand hovered over the knob, trembling.

I didn’t want to see it. I didn’t want to know.

But I already did.

With a sharp intake of breath, I pushed the door open.

And my heart shattered.

There, tangled in the sheets of our bed, was Ryan. His body slick with sweat, his hands gripping the hips of the woman straddling him. Her head was thrown back in pleasure, lips parted as she rode him like he belonged to her.

A strangled sound left my throat before I could stop it.

The woman gasped, scrambling for the sheets to cover herself.

Ryan, on the other hand, didn’t move. Didn’t panic. He just lay there, his gaze meeting mine—calm, detached. Like this wasn’t the destruction of everything I had built with him.

“Why, Ryan?” My voice barely came out, raw and broken.

He exhaled, tilting his head. “So now you’ve lost your manners, Alora? You barge in without knocking, you intrude on my privacy, like, who the hell do you think you are?”

I flinched, my eyes widened in shock, who the hell am i?, intrude on his privacy?, what privacy?, I asked myself.

My house, my bed and yet I'm the intruder?

I folded my fist in anger as something inside me snapped, walking towards him I slapped him hard across the face.

You're a cheat Ryan!!, I yelled, a good for nothing cheat.

Ryan clutched his cheek then he gave me a deadly stare, Before suddenly his vicious face was replaced by laughter.

The kind that made me sick.

I couldn't quite get why he was laughing. He only made me more angry but Before I could say another word, he slapped me hard across the face and I fell on the bed due to the impact.

My cheek burned but I forced myself not to cry, just then my eyes landed on the woman who was still on the bed, her face covered with the sheets leaving only her eyes and hair visible.

My anger intensified and I stood up from the bed, I glared at Ryan and without wasting a minute I began walking towards the woman.

The woman shrank back. But then I recalled those eyes, they were familiar, it was then I remembered the face

My breath hitched.

I stumbled back a step, as more tears rolled down my cheeks.

“Ash?”

111 Ash’s POV Seeing that one of her minions was on the ground, bleeding badly, the boss of the cell froze. Her eyes were wide like she had just seen a horror movie. Then she started screaming. “Help! Somebody help! Is anyone out there? Please, help!” She kept shouting as she backed away from the body, her eyes flickering between the body on the ground and the new inmate, who just tilted her head. “Are you scared?” the girl asked as she began walking toward her slowly. The boss didn’t answer. She kept calling for help, her voice shaking as she moved backward until there was no space behind her anymore. Just when I thought she was about to get what she finally deserved, footsteps came rushing down the hall. I rolled my eyes—I immediately knew it was the prison guards. I wondered why they had to ruin everything for me. First, they ruined my day by not feeding me up till this point, and now they were about to take away the little fun I’d had in a while. The new inmate calmly dro

110 Stanley’s POV I came out of the theater after talking to the director. Some slight changes had been made, but my mind was still on the kiss scene from earlier. I wanted to confront Alora, to tell her about the changes we’d made, but something about her expression stopped me in my tracks. She was standing there with her mother by her side, who looked just as sad as her, staring at her phone, tears gathering in her eyes. Why do women have to be so overly dramatic? I said to myself as I walked toward them beside the car. For a moment, I didn’t say anything. I just stood and stared at her, then at her mother. It dawned on me that Alora was the exact replica of her mother—a very baby-faced replica. “Alora, what’s wrong?” I asked, my voice tense as I placed my hands on her shoulders. “Did something happen? Why… why are you crying?” She looked at me, her eyes red and shining. “Stanley… we need to go to my father’s house. Now.” Just as she spoke, I could feel my expression shiftin

109TASHA'S POV I sat back on the couch, my legs crossed, the soft cushion sinking under me. After the mansion blew into pieces, I had recorded the video and sent it to that gullible Mia who refused to die when she was supposed to.After that, I deleted the video from my phone so it wouldn’t be traced or linked to the house bombing incident. Everything was going my way—exactly how I had planned it.It was perfect. Now I was at my gullible reporter’s place. Her house was quite small, but I could manage. I fed her some lies, saying that after the incident that night I was insulted and bullied by everyone at home, so I decided to leave. I told her I couldn’t stay in a place where I wasn’t loved. She believed me. Obviously, she had no choice. She was completely under my strings, and now she was at work while I was alone in her quiet apartment. Even though the place smelled like newspapers, it was still manageable. Each time I thought of how she had warmly welcomed me into her home, I fel

  • BENEATH THE LIES    WAS HE OKAY?

108Alora’s POVThe ride to the theater was quiet. After Stanley’s announcement at the mansion, everything had moved so fast—the media, the questions—after Stanley publicly announced our marriage, telling the world they were welcome. When the manager called to remind him we were late for rehearsal, Stanley wrapped things up quickly. And now, here we were, standing outside the theater where the shoot would take place.I smoothed down my dress as I got out of the car, nerves tugging at my chest. This was my first day on set, and I had the impression I was going to mess things up if I wasn’t careful. My heart was beating faster than ever, though I kept my cool and forced my expression to stay calm.Just then, I noticed a man in a crisp suit walking toward us, his polished shoes tapping the pavement. He had a confident stride, the kind that drew attention without him even trying.“Stanley,” the man said as he arrived, shaking Stanley’s hand with a firm grip. “Good to see you.”“Same here,

107**Ken’s POV**I sat on the edge of my bed, dressed for work, my suit crisp but my mind a total mess. Last night played on repeat in my head—my hands wrapped around Tasha’s throat, the urge to kill her burning in my chest. She’d ruined everything—my marriage, my reputation, my chance to beg Alora for forgiveness. I wanted her gone, buried, but killing her would make me a murderer. The world would see me as a monster who killed his own daughter. I couldn’t risk damaging my image even more. I had a better plan. Since Tasha took everything from me, I’d take away the one thing she craved: my wealth, my empire. She’d get nothing.I grabbed my phone from the bed and dialed Mr. George’s number. He’d been my lawyer for years, the one who’d set Tasha as my next of kin on my orders. Now, I’d undo that mistake. After a few rings, he picked up. “Hello, Mr. Ken,” he said, his voice groggy. “Good morning. Why’re you calling so early?”“Morning, George,” I replied, my voice tight. “I need to chan

  • BENEATH THE LIES    TAME THIS TIGRESS.

CHAPTER 106 Alora's POV “Stanley, are you putting on anything under?” I asked as I pointed down, staring right into his eyes, my own wide open. He chuckled. “No, I’m not.” “Ah…!” I screamed as I began to panic, shaking my hands like a chicken about to be slaughtered. “Okay, okay—yes, I’m putting on a towel,” he said, gesturing down. Slowly, I looked down, bracing myself for what I would see. But just then, I saw it—a towel hung around his waist. I heaved a heavy sigh. “Stanley, what you’re doing isn’t right at all. I… I’m leaving,” I said as I turned to go. But just then, he caught me by the hand and pulled me closer, wrapping his arms around my waist. I could feel my damp body clinging to his. “What’s the rush? Why not spend some time with me in the bathroom? Is something wrong with that?” God… I felt like melting, being so close to him. I could feel my legs already shaking slightly. The way he smiled at me as the water dropped down on both of us, the way his eyes charmed
