MasukLuca Graven, an orphan cursed by poverty, worked under the man loathed the most— Dante Solis. He was a wealthy, powerful mafia leader who had the strongest men, including Luca himself cowering in fear. Unfortunately, Dante took a liking to him. He brought him into his home, enslaved him, treated him like rubbish….but, he never hurt him beyond his limits. Maybe that was why Luca never fully hated him, and maybe, just maybe, that was why he wanted him. Until, a new version of him shows up. He looked exactly like Dante, same voice even, but completely different personalities. This version listened, cared for him, no longer saw him as a mere slave, he nurtured him and treated him like he meant something for once. Of course to Luca, Dante had miraculously grown a heart but that person that showed him kindness and mercy wasn’t Dante. It was Allen Pierce—his doppelganger. Now torn between two different people, yet drawn to each of them and their different souls, he has to make a decision. But they don’t make it easy. Luca wasn’t the only one fighting to choose, they were both fighting to be chosen.

The bloodshed, the betrayals, the lies….the bittersweet love.
As I laid half unconscious on the cold marble floors and took merciless beatings from people I called my family…. I wondered, could I have avoided it all? Maybe I could’ve, If I wasn’t so desperate for a restart at life. Two years ago, Dante Solis found me on the streets of New York playing a guitar for the tiniest amount of money. I had just lost everything. I did multiple jobs to stay alive, but as I was slowly giving up, he offered me a job. Something simple, just to run a few errands. But he never told me he was New York's biggest mafia leader…and those errands were just a ploy. I learnt the hard way, I adjusted, because as soon as you were roped in, there was no going back. But, even if I could leave, I didn’t have anyone to run to. The cries of my parents as they slowly passed away in my arms still played in my head daily. Dante knew this….he knew I was vulnerable and weak. That’s why I was the perfect target. I moved side by side with him. Witnessing innocent people die, get tortured. I watched him handle multiple illegal dealings like a pro. He was not only ruthless, he was untouchable. Whatever he said wasn’t arguable. “Aye Luca!” Marcel's voice ran sharp through the crowd, forcing me back to the reality I so much wanted to escape from. “You heard the boss, get your ass up!” I could taste my own blood, I could feel my body shut down, yet I steadied myself and tried to stand. Still, the physical pain I felt couldn’t compare to the heartache I felt. The only reason I was getting punished in the middle of a ring was because of the same man I was fighting. The same man that was supposed to be my best friend. We planned how to escape Dante’s control for years, we shared secrets, everything you could think of. But he got himself into some trouble and decided our friendship wasn’t worth Dante’s wrath. I didn’t exactly blame him, but it still hurt. By the time my vision cleared, all I could notice was Dante. Watching his cold expression, something in me snapped, and I made the best mistake I could ever make. I fought back. I ignored Marcel who was ready to pounce on me like a beast and slowly turned towards Dante’s direction. “Fuck you!” I yelled. My voice cracked a little, I struggled to stand straight, but it was nothing compared to the rage I felt. From Marcel and Dante. Everybody suddenly went quiet, like I had just committed a crime punishable by death….and truthfully, I did. But Dante didn’t react. He took careful steps towards me and looked me directly in the eyes, “You talk big for someone who has nowhere to go.” His words meant nothing to me at that point, especially because his hands were now squeezing my chin. I saw desperation in his eyes…he wanted me to succumb to him and apologize, but over my dead body was I going to do that. “Marcel,” he called calmly, “Take him to my car and prepare to leave.” Everyone looked confused. That wasn’t one of his punishments. But, Marcel obeyed. He dragged me like a pile of rubbish, all the way out of the building and into the car. As he laid me down in the backseat, I wanted to ask him, Why? Why did he betray me? Why did he have to deny me and fight me? After two years of surviving together. But I knew there was no use. My situation was exactly why nobody ever crossed Dante. But it still hurt to know I had lost another piece of family. The car doors swung open from the other side, “Go. Now.” Marcel sped away without asking for directions. I stayed quiet too. They both acted like I wasn’t in the car with them, up until we got to what seemed to be Dante’s mansion. Marcel helped me out of the car again, but he provided no assistance after that. I walked very slowly behind them. I looked around. There were guards everywhere. Each opening and entrance had at least one guard. They all stared at me. “You’re wasting my time,” Dante said without looking at me. I didn’t say anything, just tried to walk faster. By the time I made it to the living room, Dante told Marcel to leave, which he did after giving me pitiful eyes that screamed he was sorry. “From now on, you’re in charge of the master bedroom. It has to be spotless. If it isn’t, you’re done….,” he paused “…and I won’t be as lenient.” I gulped. “Ken will show you where to sleep. If you don’t know who that is, figure it out and do it quickly. I don’t want another drop of blood on my floors. I nodded again. Maybe I was hallucinating, I had to be. Dante Solis was showing mercy? to me? Before I could understand what was happening, he started to walk away. Then he stopped. “Asides making sure you do not make any mistakes, do not attempt to steal from me. If you try to run….well you know better.” Then, he left. I immediately slumped on the ground, finally releasing my tears. I sat there crying, reminiscing and wishing things were different. I didn’t care that the multiple guards were staring at me, or that the maids were whispering amongst themselves. No one tried to help, and Ken didn’t seem to be around.I sat there for about ten minutes before someone came downstairs.
He looked around before walking slowly to me, “Who are you?” I wiped my tears and fixed my breath. “Uh, I-I’m looking for Ken. Is he here?” “I’m Ken. Where did you come from?” It was obvious he was worried, but he didn’t try to come any closer. “Dante brought me here. He said to tell you to show me where I’d stay.” He was visibly confused. I was tired of talking, but I had to. “He said I’m in charge of cleaning the master bedroom and you’ll tell me how to do that, and where I’m gonna sleep.” “Oh. Mr Solis hasn’t done this before,” he clenched his shirt, “D-Do you need anything, water, food?” “Water.” “Okay.” “Why are you guys just standing there? Em, get him water.” I didn’t bother to turn around to see who he was talking to but I heard her hurried footsteps. Everybody’s eyes were still fixed on me but no one asked questions or tried to move closer. The guards however, simply didn’t care. They shifted their attention back to work as soon as Ken showed up. Eventually, the lady came back out with two bottles. I drank them like I had been in the desert for weeks. I tried to stand up but my vision got blurry and my head ached terribly. Before I could take another step, everything went dark. —I don’t know how long I was unconscious for, but I woke up on a mildly soft bed with my wounds were already attended to.
I tried to sit up. I took a look around at the small room and immediately knew I was right where Dante wanted me to be. I just wished I was still hallucinating and laid back down. I heard the door creak open and my heart jumped. “Great, you’re up.” “Oh,” I had to squint my eyes to look at him but I recognized his voice, “Ken.” “Feeling better?” “You want honest answers?” He gave a half smile, obviously trying to hide his pity which only made me feel worse. “Mr Solis will be back in a few hours, but you can rest, I’ll cover for you.” He dropped a tray of food and water on the side table and left. I looked around again. A single tear dropped from my eye. I couldn’t tell why. Whether it was Marcels betrayal, the beatings I received, the humiliation ritual I went through just hours ago. Whatever it was, it hurt. It hurt a lot.“How was it?” Ken came up from behind me.“You mean Amelia?” “Yeah. She’s very strict about her car.” “I’ll keep that for next time.” He chuckled. “Eaten yet? Pete’s gotten into some trouble with the boss but I can work up something for you.” “Trouble? What did he do?” “Something about making the wrong dish for the day, I don't know. I only eavesdropped a little.”“Damn.” “You seem down, Amelia?” “I wish.” “That bad? Wanna talk?” “Not really. I’m just ready to go to bed.” “Well, if I can’t help, at least let me cook up something for you.” “He threw out what Pete prepared?” “Mhm.” “Sure then, but I can’t promise i’d eat it.” “You can come back to it whenever you like.” Not long after he left, someone walked in. “Luca?” I had to turn around because of how unrecognizable the voice was. I recognized her from when I first got here. She was one of the girls in charge of cleaning the house. “Oh hey Emma.” “Glad I saw you on time.”“Why? Is anything the matter?” “Not reall
I didn’t reply, or open the message at first. I didn’t know what to say, especially since he was asking too much. Can we talk? No, we couldn’t. I didn’t want to. But throughout the ride to the mechanic, all I could think about was why. What I did to deserve the betrayal, why it was so easy for him to throw it all away. At some point I had to accept not everybody was like me. Not everybody was strong enough to stand face to face with death and still protect others around them. I had to accept it. But Marcel hurt, more than anything ever. So, I picked up my phone. I’ll be at Blackline Automotive for a few hours. If you want to talk, meet me there. I locked my phone and placed it back down. A few seconds later, I picked it up again. Sure.I didn’t reply after that. I decided to enjoy the only time of peace I had. I connected my phone to the speaker and played music loudly. I didn't feel comfortable doing it but I did it anyway. Half an hour later, I turned the music off, got o
For the rest of the evening, I tried to convince myself the pain I was feeling was greater than the image of Dante I had created in my head. At the warehouse, we didn’t have the time to even think of a woman, let alone fully fantasize about one. All I saw were men’s locker rooms, sweaty biceps twice as big as mine. But they never moved me. At least I thought they didn’t. I was basically walking on a thin line, I didn’t have the time to think about my sexuality or its desires. But here, I was somewhat free. A walking corpse, but a free one. No more missions, no more side quests, no more blood. Just him. As I stepped into the bathroom, I shook it off immediately. ‘At least I don’t get to see him everyday’ I murmured to myself. How bad could it possibly be? Except it got bad really fast. The next morning, my body automatically woke up earlier than it needed to. I was still tired, but I just couldn’t sleep. After minutes of twisting and turning, I eventually got up from bed to bru
I wiped down the surfaces again even though they were already clean, adjusted the bed sheets, checked corners I didn’t need to check. I didn’t know what I was trying to prove. Probably just that I wasn’t careless. When I was done, I stepped out and closed the door behind me. I adjusted my sleeves and started walking back downstairs. That was when I saw her. At first, I didn’t register who she was. She was standing near the bottom of the stairs, one hand lightly resting on the railing, the other holding a glass of wine. Then I noticed Ken standing a few feet away, not speaking, just watching her like he was waiting for permission to breathe. And then I saw her clearly. It was Amelia Solis. I stopped walking without meaning to. When she finally lifted her eyes, it felt like she had been aware of me the entire time and simply decided I wasn’t worth acknowledging sooner. Typical Solis behavior. Her expression didn’t change. “You’re the new cleaner,” she said.
