CHAPTER EIGHT

                                                     

"A surprise awaits you" Bellona pondered on what Nimue had previously told her.    'What kind of surprise is that?' she questioned herself.

"Sooner or later, you'll come to know" She vividly remembered Nimue's words when she asked her to explain her words further.

Now she was worried. Had Nimue snitched on her to Zephyr to obtain favour?

'No, Nimue wasn't that kind of person' she convinced herself. Nimue also wanted to exert revenge on him for separating her from her loved one. She wondered who the person was.

Bellona just had to forget about what Nimue said and put her mind back to the task at hand. She hoped Zephyr wouldn't detect that she was a rogue.

Werewolves, mostly Alpha's, had a strong sense of smell making them able to detect rogues because of the distinct scent the rogues had. She wondered if the potion Nimue gave her had done it's job, but seeing that nobody was looking weirdly at her, she relaxed. It must have worked, if not, some werewolf would have pounced on her and tore her flesh the moment they notice a rogue was in their midst. They didn't want to have anything to do with the rogues.

She also didn't want to have anything to do with them. They disgusted her so the feeling was mutual.

Few hours back*

"Don't you think he's going to blow my cover as soon as I step into his office?" Bellona asked.

"How so?" Nimue said.

"We rogues have a particular scent and werewolves can easily detect it" Bellona patiently explained, "what if he perceives my scent?"

Hearing her words, Nimue sat in silence for a while before bringing out a small bottle from a cupboard and handed it over to Bellona.

"What is this?" Bellona asked

"It's a scent inhibitor" Nimue answered "it'll mask your scent so he won't be able to figure out your true identity"

Bellona was in awe. This witch had a lot of potions. 

"Make sure you apply it daily" Nimue warned, "the day you'll forget to apply it, it's the day you'll get discovered."

"You need not to worry" Bellona beamed  confidently "I won't make such childish mistake"

*Back to present*

In the office where the interview was taking place, sat Zephyr with a stoic expression accompanied with Lucian. Under normal circumstances, Zephyr wouldn't have been carrying out the interview himself but he had to do it. He didn't want to regret his decision of sending Lucian to the account department therefore he decided to pick a worthy secretary with his own hands but so far, he wasn't impressed with what he was seeing.

"Next person" Lucian said through the intercom. Not long after, a young lady walked in.

"Have a sit" Zephyr sat quietly while Lucian did the talking.

The young lady sat down with a slutry smile on her face which both Lucian and Zephyr noticed but chose to ignore.

"What is your name?'' Asked Lucian.

"I'm Olivia" the girl smiled widely, it made Lucian cringe.

"I'll go straight to the point" Lucian announced "why did you choose this company?"

"Because of your boss, the Alpha" She articulated.

"Huh?" Lucian choked. It must be that he didn't hear her properly.

"I came here because I'm in love with Zephyr and I want to seduce him" She repeated but this time clearly and more explanatory.

Lucian was in awe of her boldness and turned to look at Zephyr to see his reaction but the man sat emotionless as though the discussion wasn't about him.

"And you are?" Zephyr finally spoke up.

"I'm Olivia, Alpha Noah's daughter" She beamed confidently.

Alpha Noah was a powerful and well known alpha but he couldn't hold a candle to Zephyr.

"Will you please excuse us?" She turned to Lucian, her tone carrying a hint of disgust.

Lucian looked at Zephyr but when he didn't get any reaction from him, he stood up and left the office.

After Lucian's departure, Olivia rose from her seat and slowly walked towards Zephyr. All these while, Zephyr sat in silence, anticipating what her next move would be.

When Olivia got to his seat, she gently placed her hands on his shoulder but didn't get any reaction from him.

'Atleast he didn't shun her' she smiled positively to herself.

"My father says you'll make a good mate to me given that we're both currently mateless." She continued her ministration on his shoulder but Zephyr continued to ignore her.

The word mate made Zephyr's wolf, Fenrir growl in displeasure. He was silent most of the time but given that he responded, it meant that he was truly displeased.

"Why do you think so?" Zephyr asked, wanting to know what more foolish things she could think of.

"Well" Olivia giggled shyly and placed her arms on his chest "we look good together"

Immediately Zephyr felt her arms on his chest, he quickly grabbed it with a great force and flung it away like it was some sort of measly object.

Olivia gasped. What went wrong? Why did he change all of a sudden? Yes, he wasn't giving her any reaction but he didn't express any form of displeasure so why the change?

"Leave!" Zephyr said with a calm voice.

"But-" 

"I said get out!" He hollered, bringing whatever she was about to say to an abrupt end.

Olivia slowly picked up her bags and looked at Zephyr coquettishly in an attempt to change his mind but Zephyr was not having any of it. He picked up his phone and called Lucian who answered immediately.

"Come to my office with the security. Now!" He didn't wait for Lucian's response and ended the call.

"Please Zephyr-" 

"It's Alpha Zephyr to you" Zephyr corrected with a glare.

"Alpha Zephyr I'm very sorry, I won't repeat it. Please give me another chance" Olivia begged profusely.

In the next minute, Lucian walked into the room along side the security Zephyr requested for.

"You called." Lucian spoke.

"Take the girl out of my office and I don't want to ever see her near this premises. Do you understand?" Zephyr said, trying hard to control his anger.

"Yes, boss" the security guard responded and quickly turned to Olivia "miss, please leave."

"No" She blurted 

"Please leave while I'm being nice" The guard tried to reason with her but she didn't bulge. Having no other option, he picked her up and threw her over his shoulder and walked out of the office while she screamed and struggled.

"You'll hear from my daddy!'' was the last word they heard.

"What happened?" Lucian asked wanting to know the full details.

"She tried to seduce me." Zephyr simply said. Obviously Lucian already knew that, he just wanted the full story but it seemed like Zephyr wasn't ready for a story time.

"Who's she? She seems to have some guts" Lucian tried to pry

"She's Alpha Noah's daughter." 

"That greedy man" Lucian said with disgust.

Alpha Noah was known for his greediness. He was hungry for more and more wealth and power.

"Why was she going on and on about you being her mate?" Lucian asked further.

"Were you eavesdropping?'' Zephyr glared at him

"I can't help it, I'm a werewolf," Lucian chuckled. "She seems like a spoilt brat" he added.

"She is," Zephyr concurred.

"I'm surprised you entertained her for that long" Lucian confessed. Typical Zephyr would have kicked her out the second she started displaying such nuisance.

"I was bored" Zephyr responded truthfully. He knew she would act funny and he wanted to entertain himself but he regretted it deeply.

"It seems like her father told her to seduce me. He wants to take over my pack through her." Zephyr answered Lucian previous question. He already knew what Alpha Noah and his spoilt daughter had in mind.

"It's about time we teach that man a lesson" Lucian commented. The man was really overstepping his boundaries. The other time, he sent spies into their lands and they were caught. The man was persistent and wouldn't give up unless he was taught a lesson.

Zephyr stood up in an attempt to leave the office but Lucian stopped him.

"Where are you going?"

"Out" Zephyr said and Lucian rolled his eyes.

"You can't go out, there's one more candidate for the interview" Lucian informed him.

"Handle it yourself" Zephyr uttered.

"I'm not the one searching for a secretary, you are. I'm not also the one who took his perfect secretary to the finance department, you are. So you have to sit her and listen to the person that'll walk through this door" Lucian retorted.

At times like this, Zephyr wondered if he was the Alpha or Lucian. Lucian was right though.

Zephyr groaned in defeat. If he was going to employ a new secretary, he would interview the candidate himself.

"Bring them in" Zephyr finally agreed.

Whoever was behind that door, he was just gonna face him and get over with it. He doubted that person would even have the ability of being his secretary but he had to fulfill all righteousness and go ahead with the interview.
