Destiny

I ran out and met Abhishek on my way to call him.

He finds me troubled and asked what happened.

I couldn't get my words out, I held his hands and dragged him into Avanti's room.

He finds his sister lying on the bed with her hair all messy.

He walks to her and notices the pillbox

He got scared and asked me if Avanti had overdosed herself. I couldn't say a word, immediately he asked me to go into his room and grab his car keys.

I ran out while he carried Avanti on his back.

I came out and met him riding down the stairs. Mr. Ajay asked him what happened and Abhishek said that Avanti overdosed on sleeping pills.

Mrs. Anuradha cried out.

She grabbed her daughter's hands and asked we all go to the hospital.

We all went together and Avanti was taken to the emergency room.

We waited outside. I sat down hitting my hand against each other.

Why on earth would Avanti try to kill herself?

"You, it's all your fault?"

I got my hair pulled by Mrs. Anuradha.

She almost slammed my head on the wall, if not for Abhishek's intervention.

He took his mom away after begging her not to create a scene...

She listened to her son, however, didn't fail to blame me for what happened.

How the hell is this my fault?

The doctor comes out of the emergency room.

He walked to us and we all stood hoping to hear good news.

"Doctor, how is my daughter?"

Mr. Ajay asked him.

"She is fine, luckily the pills she took didn't affect any of her organs,"

He confirmed.

We were all relieved. Abhishek asked the doctor if it would be okay to see her.

He nodded but said, she had to return to her ward before anyone could see her.

The news got to Karan.

He ran in and met us in the lobby, Mrs. Anuradha came to him and kept him informed of what was happening at home.

He passed and went to Abhishek.

They spoke together in a low tone.

Thereafter, we learned she had regained consciousness and she would like to see her family.

Mr. Ajay and his wife walked in. Behind Abhishek and Karan followed and I was the last to come in.

She found me standing at their end and called me out.

I walked to her bed and she pulled me down with force. She apologized for what happened and swore not to try such stunts again.

I am the last person she needs to apologize to, what if something bad has happened and Mrs. Anuradha made sure I got blamed for it?

We all left her to talk with Karan.

I looked through the window and saw Karan locking hands with her. That boy can't be trusted. Something tells me, whatever happened here has something to do with him.

I may be wrong, but Karan can't be trusted, and neither should Avanti trust him.

We all returned home afterward.

I got a glass of water and gave it to everyone.

Mrs.Anuradha takes the glass right after giving me, a poisonous glare.

Avanti was interrogated by her parents. why she tried to kill herself.

She looked at me and I figured she needed help.

However,  Abhishek comes to her rescue on time before anyone begins to suspect anything.

He walked her up to her room alone and asked me to go rest.

I'm guessing they both have a long discussion together.

The next morning. We were all outside when Mrs. Anuradha came in with a priest.

She told on that the priest had come to perform some prayer at home.

"What kind of prayers?"

Mr. Ajay goes after her

She had this feeling of apprehension on her countenance, she presumed someone had cast an evil eye on her family.

She looks at me and walks away with the priest.

Thereafter, we all came out of our rooms wearing white clothes.

Mrs. Anuradha had asked Avanti to get me some Indian clothes for the prayer.

I didn't want to wear it, but I had to.

I came down and noticed we weren't the only ones at home.

Karan and his family were also there.

We all sat on the down-facing alter.

It had incense smelling all over and a man rubbing some kind of weird stuff on everyone's head.

I faced Avanti and she said, it was a blessing from the gods.

I got up and Abhishek walked out with me.

The priest brought out a gland and wore us both.

He took out a tray and blessed us.

"May the almighty bless your marriage?".

He says.

I looked perplexed.

Abhishek slapped his hand on his face and before he had a chance to clear the misunderstanding, his mom jumped up and made it clear we weren't in a relationship nor would we ever be.

Issues.

The priest apologized but smiled at me while I walked back to my seat.

The prayers took a long time, precisely two long hours before they came to an end.

I got a call back home and I ran out immediately after everyone began leaving.

I  turned back to take my leave, but I met the priest.

"Hello child, you must be javelin?".

He says.

I got suspicious.

"Yes! I am, but how did you know my name,".

I replied.

He grins and walks two steps closer.

"I asked your best friend and I have a premonition for you,".

He pulled out my hands and looked into my eyes.

It was just like what happened back at the temple.

The man said the same thing and begged me not to fight destiny.

I wondered what he was talking about.

He pulled my hands away the minute he found the rest of the guests invited walking towards our direction.

Mrs.Anuradha came and asked if everything was okay.

The priest however makes a weird response and walks away.

I got my notoriety away when Avanti shouted my name.

I rode past Mrs. Anuradha.

She came after me and dragged me back to her gaze.

"What did you tell the priest?"

She tells.

"Nothing, what exactly do you think I told him?"

I replied aggressively.

She slapped my hands away and warned me not to try such audacity again.

Like what the hell is she talking about?

I went in after her. Avanti found me talking to myself and appeared with a worried expression on her countenance.

"Hey, did my mom say anything again?".

She gets bothered.

I turned to her and narrated what had happened.

She fell quiet for a while, but later on thought of the fact that whatever premonition the priest had told me, might be a sign from the universe.

That can't be right.

I rebuked her and walked into my bedroom.

But deep down I feel as if she's right, why would my destiny lie here in India?

And who am I destined with?

Abhishek knocks on my door the next minute. I got the door open and he came wearing a warm smile.

Oh shit! Don't tell me Abhishek is the one I am destined to be with.
