Never in Alex’s wildest dreams did he imagine he could spend several hours working on a project and feel so comfortable doing so. Over extra two hours were spent and Alex totally lost track of time. Probably because the floor of Victoria’s room felt so warm as he sat on it or because Victoria was just an amazing team partner- he couldn’t figure out which, but he found himself with a strange type of comfort as he worked. Or, probably because he knew he could get an extra help just whenever he wanted one. Whatever it was, it managed to keep him going and he was glad. “Do your both plan on working yourselves to death?” Victoria’s room door was opened without permission to reveal Seb. He folded his arms, shook his head and stared at them then the floor they were working on. “Why are you in my room?” Vic spoke up. “Look here,” he unfolded his arms. “All of these- you guys working and all is a cute sight to see but it’s getting late, okay?” “Late?” “Look at that,” Seb shook his h
"Shit." Alex said the word out loud staring at himself in the mirror with his toothbrush in his hand. He had woken up by his normal wake up time- few minutes past seven and immediately got into the bathroom to get ready. He decorated his toothbrush with toothpaste, mentally picked his outfit of the day including his footwear and was about to have his toothbrush roam his mouth when he realized he didn't ask Seb the time they were to meet up. Mentally groaning, he walked back into his room and unplugged his phone from the charger. With his toothbrush in his left hand and phone in his right, he texted him. Alex: Good morning... Alex: I forgot to ask yesterday. When should we meet up? He waited for a few seconds and on getting no reply, sent his toothbrush into his mouth. It went in circles, Alex's eyes doing the same as he waited for a reply. He didn't get any and when he was finally done with brushing and washing his face, he resorted to calling him. The phone rang a couple o
Sebastian walked out of his room dressed in ripped black jeans, a grey t-shirt and a checkered shirt. His eyes roamed the house and on spotting Alex, his whole face lit up with a smile. “I’m here,” Seb said out loud, walking towards Alex. “I’m not too late, am i?” “No, it’s okay,” Alex replied, getting up to meet Seb. Stylishly, he checked him out from head to toe and mentally commented how he managed to look so effortlessly. “Your shoes.” “What?” Before Seb could complete his statement, Alex crouched in front of him and took his shoe laces into his hands. “Your shoe laces are untied.” “Oh, are they?” Seb chuckled, watching Alex wrap the laces around his seeming delicate fingers then tie them into a knot. “Didn’t realize.” “You didn’t have to rush,” he finally said then got up, allowing himself use the opportunity of being that close to him to inhale his cologne to his heart content. “I could wait.” “Still,” Seb looked at him. “I didn’t want to keep you waiting for too long.”
Picking a book from his newly furnished and stocked shelf, Alex grabbed his backpack and prepared to step out of his room. He walked and switched off the lights, mentally marvelling on how the room now looked and commending himself for a job well done. The previous night was an exhausting one and as he remembered how he initially struggled with getting the wallpaper in place, it reminded him of just how hard he tried to get the memories of the day out of his mind. Brushing the thoughts away, he gave his new wallpaper a final pat and stepped out. Immediately shutting the door behind him, he walked through the hallways and quickened his steps on getting to the edge of the stairs. He had gotten used to skipping the stairs heading to the down floor every morning to meet his aunt and cousin. They were always seated and it seemed like waiting for him had become a routine for them- his aunt, waiting with smiles and his cousin waiting with a new mischievous look on his face. He was finall
Promises were meant to be kept. But apparently, not all the promises Alex made were meant to kept as barely fifteen minutes later he was fast asleep, head rested on the library table. “Alex?” “Alex?”The voice wasn’t stopping. “Alex, are you okay?” “Alex?” It took a tap on the shoulder for Alex to realize he wasn’t dreaming. That he indeed had fallen asleep in the library, again. “Shit,” he muttered to himself, turning to hide his face from whoever was calling him. “Alex?” His eyes shot open as he heard the voice. It was a familiar one but luckily and surprisingly, it wasn’t a dreaded one. “Victoria?” he slowly got up to meet Victoria in front of him. “Oh, it’s you.” “Are you okay?” she asked, sitting opposite him. “Why are you sleeping here? Oh, were you expecting someone?” “No,” he shook his head, completely awake. “I was just reading and then I kinda dozed off.” “Oh,” she laughed lightly. “Don’t overwork yourself though. And ah, speaking of work, our project.” “Right
“Shit. Shit. Shit.” Alex threw his phone on the bed, panicking. He ran his hands through his hair continuously, cursing at intervals. After a while of panicking and pacing around the room, he finally paused to take deep breaths. Inhale, exhale, repeat. Folding his arms, he took slow steps as he walked towards his bed. Though buried under sheets, he could still see his phone and like it was waiting for his arrival, it beeped signalling a new text message. He could feel a new wave of panic rush through him. Slowly and even more slowly, he stretched his arm forward and reached for his phone. On reaching it, he slightly closed his eyes then turned it on to see what text message he had received again. It was a message from Victoria. Victoria: Hii Victoria: I’m done with my part of the project. You? Victoria: if you’re also done, let’s meet tomorrow at my place to finalize it? Alex could have cried. If only he had finished just five minutes later he wouldn’t have had t
"I'm Alex Croft, no, my name is Alex Croft, no, Hello standing in front of you is Alex- arrrrrgghhhhhhh." Alex slammed his heaf on the table, groaning in pain as he felt the pain. He ran his hand through his hair in frustration, recalling how he had been in the library ever since his classes for the day were over, trying to get himself ready for his presentation. His presentation was going to be happening the following day and though he seemed confident when he spoke to Victoria about it, deep down he knew he was nervous. Very nervous. It wasn't going to be his first time presenting in the presence of an audience but it was going to be his first time in over six years. He had spent the majority of his high school life as a literal shadow and as a result, never had to present in front of the class making his last memory of such presentations presenting his little self grown plant back in the sixth grade. This, however, was different and he was sure simply a toothless smile and light
Alex shut his eyes even tighter, recognizing the voice and familiar touch. “It’s getting late, Blue. Wake up.” On realizing his gentle taps weren’t getting Alex to get up, Seb moved his hand from his back to his hair. He leaned forward to confirm Alex still sleeping and on doing that, smiled to himself. “Blue,” he muttered, running his hand through Alex’s hair. It was the first time he touched his hair and it oddly felt good. So good he couldn’t bring himself to stop so easily. Alex, already awake, could feel his insides twist and turn with Seb continuously running his hands through his hair, caressing it and having its tips dance around his fingers. He had two options. To either pretend for longer and risk Seb toying with his hair for even longer or to just get up and have Seb stop caressing his hair.Taking a deep breath, he opened his eyes and immediately met Seb’s gaze. “You’re finally up,” Seb said, watching Alex slowly raise his head from the desk. “Just for how long
