Mila's pov……

I, Knox Mercer, future Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack, reject you, Mila Carter, as my mate.”

I hated parties. There, I said it.

And not just any parties — school parties, the kind where everyone drank too much, and these were people I saw in school everyday, so it was basically just watching them turn into drunk teens, on a school weekend.

Mila! Stop overthinking and come on!” Jenna groaned, tugging me toward the Mercer mansion.

I adjusted the straps of the black dress I’d borrowed from her. It hugged my waist tighter than I liked, but it was the only decent thing I owned.

Unlike most of the girls here, I didn’t have a rich Alpha family backing me.

I straightened my hair twice and applied a red lipstick.

“With all the hot males there, you may even see your mate”

Mate.

My wolf, Rina purred

I couldn't wait to see my mate, I turned Eighteen few months back and have been waiting for the pull of my mate.

Future Alpha Knox Mercer of our crescent moon pack was hosting a party.

Which meant everyone who wanted status was here.

I hated this. I really did.

“Stop sulking and smile,” Jenna said, grabbing my hand and dragging me forward.

The party was already in full swing by the time we arrived. Music thumped through the house,

Teens spilled out of the house into the garden, laughing, dancing, spilling drinks everywhere. The air smelled like perfume, alcohol, and sweat

“Okay, just… keep your head down,” I muttered to myself.

But as soon as I stepped into the main room, I froze.

I looked up and saw him.

Knox Mercer.

The future Alpha of our pack.

I had seen him around school, of course. Everyone had. He was… impossible to ignore.

He was tall, with broad shoulders and his dark hair was always styled perfectly, he hardly smiled and his green eyes were a piercing shade that seemed to stare straight into your soul.

He was leaning against the wall, holding a glass of a dark drink and talking to his friend.

I was still staring at him when I felt a strange pull at my chest, I gasped and rubbed at my chest, it was violent and it was pulling me straight to him.

“Earth to Mila,” Jenna said suddenly, snapping me back to reality

“You okay?”

I nodded, though I wasn’t. My heart was still racing, what was that pull like a magnetic force to him?

I tried to brush it off. I was just… imagining things, right?

Right?

“Don’t stare like that,” one of my friends whispered, nudging me. “He’ll think you’re crazy.”

I forced myself to nod again, taking a deep breath. But even as I moved forward, trying to act normal, I could feel him. Somewhere across the room, Knox Mercer had some invisible force pulling me to him.

Rina whimpered.

Mate.

No.

No.

My stomach dropped.

No way.

The future Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack could not be mated to me. I was barely tolerated in this pack. My parents were nothing in the pack and I was an omega.

This had to be a mistake.

Knox turned to face me.

Our eyes locked.

And the world stopped.

His expression changed instantly, I could tell he also felt the pull, I could see shock and recognition on his face.

Rina yipped happily, then his face twisted into something like anger and disappointment.

The music pounded around us, but I couldn’t hear it anymore.

The pull intensified — a burning thread between us.

He felt it too.

His jaw tightened.

He set his glass down slowly.

And then—

“Turn it off.”

His voice wasn’t loud. But it carried Alpha authority.

The music went off immediately, everyone turned to look at us in confusion.

Knox walked toward me, looking every bit the Alpha that he was.

Everyone started whispering

“Why did he stop the music?” “Who is that girl?” “Isn’t that Mila Carter?, the omega”

I couldn’t breathe. He stopped in front of me.

His eyes turned pitch black.

“You feel it,” he said quietly.

It wasn’t a question.

My throat dried up and I couldn't speak.

“Yes,” I whispered.

Someone gasped and the whispers started again

“Mate” someone said and everywhere went quiet

Knox looked at me like I’d personally offended him, then he laughed.

It wasn’t warm, but full of malice.

“You?” he said, looking me up and down slowly. “The Moon Goddess paired me with you?”

The humiliation burned instantly.

I felt smaller than I ever had in my life.

Rina growled in pain.

Knox turned slightly, addressing the entire room.

“Listen carefully,” he said smoothly. “It appears the Moon Goddess thinks this girl is worthy of being Luna.”

Everyone erupted with laughter, Jenna rushed to my side and tugged my hand.

“Let's just leave “ she whispered

Knox stepped closer.

Close enough that the bond nearly made me sway forward.

“But let’s be clear,” he continued, his voice hardening.

“I am the future Alpha of this pack. I will not be tied to any weakness”

My hands trembled slightly

“I didn’t choose this,” I whispered desperately.

His eyes snapped to mine.

“Exactly. You didn’t choose it and neither did i”

“I, Knox Mercer, future Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack, reject you, Mila Carter, as my mate.”

The words slammed into me like a physical blow.

The bond snapped cut.

It tore and I screamed in pain.

I couldn’t stop it.

Pain exploded through my chest like my ribs were being split open from the inside. Rina howled in agony, clawing at the broken pieces of what had just been destroyed.

I collapsed to my knees.

I could feel Jenna whispering soothing words to me and helping me get up.

The floor felt too far away and the world was spinning around me.

“Pathetic” he whispered

I looked up at him with tears in my eyes

“Accept it” he snapped

“No” I whispered

“Accept it or you'll live in pain forever Mila” jenna begged me

Rina howled in pain.

The pain intensified.

My wolf was breaking.

If I didn’t accept, it would kill us.

Tears streamed down my face.

“I…” My voice cracked. “I accept.”

The pain dulled instantly but Rina went silent.

She didn’t move or even speak.

Knox looked down at me like I was nothing.

“Know your place next time.”

Then he turned back to the party.

“Music.”

The party resumed.

Just like that.

They continued drinking and dancing.

Like my life hadn’t just shattered on the marble floor.

Mila’s POV…..I was eating silently when he came back “What now?“ I groaned “You have an appointment tomorrow,” he said instead, ignoring my tone. “Ten am. A stylist will be here.”“For what?”He reached for a crystal glass on the counter and poured himself a drink from the decanter sitting there. The amber liquid sparkled in the light.“For you to look like a Luna.”The word sat heavy between us. What did that even mean?“I look fine.” I snapped at himHe took a slow sip before answering. “You look like a girl who was just bought at an auction.”My stomach twisted in anger “That’s because I was.”His eyes flicked to mine briefly, unreadable.“You represent me now. The pack will see you within days. My brother will see you.” His jaw tightened slightly at that. “You will look perfect.”“And if I don’t feel like it?”He tilted his head.“You will.”He set the glass down and straightened up.“Sleep early It’ll be a long day tomorrow”“Where are you going?” I asked before I could

Mila’s POV…..“No!“ Knox dropped his glass Caleb got up immediately “Let's all calm down and be civil” he said softly “You don't really have a choice Mila, what if I send you back to the auction and get a new girl Instead”My heart dropped, if he took me back I wouldn't be so lucky to get a less evil Alpha I could end up becoming a sex slave.I sat back down quietly and gave him a middle finger, Caleb stifled a chuckle.“Since you’re going to be my Luna” Knox said calmly, “you should understand exactly what that entails.”My fingers curled into the satin at my sides. “Explain it, then.”His eyes flicked to mine briefly, assessing whether that tone was rebellion or resignation.Maybe both.He finally lowered himself into the armchair across from me, crossing one ankle over his knee. He looked calm and controlled like this was a board meeting.“Tomorrow,” he began, “you’ll sign a legal agreement drafted by my attorney and approved by the council.”Of course there was paperwork.

  • BOUGHT BY THE ALPHA WHO DESPISES ME    Chapter 006: Be my wife

Mila’s POV……I hate Knox Mercer.I sighed as I walked to the huge wardrobe that was bigger than the bedroom my father and I shared for years. They were rows of different elegant dresses, and heels arranged in a neat row, with beautiful colors and beautiful silk, velvet fabrics.I stood there for a long moment, staring at clothes that didn’t belong to me.No, that wasn’t true. They did belong to me now.Because he bought me.My throat tightened.I forced myself to move.If Knox Mercer wanted me presentable for his “meeting,” then fine. I would be presentable. My fingers brushed over a deep emerald dress before settling on one that felt softer , it was elegant and simple, it was floor length euth satin fabric. The neckline dipped into a modest V neck, just enough to show the curve of my collarbone without showing too much cleavage. The waist cinched perfectly, hugging my body before flowing down in soft folds around my legs. The back was a sample open back.I slipped it on slowly. The

Mila’s POV…..I still couldn't believe that Knox Mercer bought me.Gamma Rodney didn’t look at me when he pulled me backstage. The applause was still echoing from the hall when the door shut behind us, cutting the noise. My knees felt weak, my heart still hammering like it hadn’t figured out yet that I was no longer on display.“You did good,” Rodney said finally, breaking the silence.I laughed—a short, cracked sound that surprised even me. “Good?” My voice shook. “I was sold.”He stopped walking and turned to face me. “You sold for a very good amount, Mila. Two hundred thousand. That’s more than enough.”The number didn’t feel real. Nothing did.I wrapped my arms around myself, suddenly aware of how exposed I still was in the dress. “Then take what I owe you,” I said quickly, before I could lose my nerve. “All of it. And the rest—please—use it to take care of my father. His medicine, his room, everything. I don’t want him moved from the hospital and help me pay my remaining debt

  • BOUGHT BY THE ALPHA WHO DESPISES ME    Chapter 004: You again

Knox Mercer……. I didn’t want a Luna. That was the truth no one seemed willing to accept. The council chamber was quiet, and I sat in my chair while Conrad and Caleb watched me. Generations of Alphas were carved into the walls, staring down at me like judges waiting for me to fail or slip up. My father’s seat was empty now. His bloodline rested on my shoulders, and everyone could feel it. Caleb my Beta leaned against the table, watching me with those green eyes. Conrad stood by the window, silently watching. “You know the law,” Caleb said finally. “Without a Luna, your claim isn’t permanent.” I clenched my jaw. “I don’t need one.” Conrad turned to me. “You do if Bastain decides to contest.” That name hit like a blow to my chest. Bastain Mercer. My father’s eldest son. My half-brother who hates me and an opportunist. A man who had waited years for this exact opening so he could take the pack, and I wouldn't let him. “He won’t,” I said coldly. “He can,”

7years later…..Mila's pov…The car was silent, as I sat at the back of Gamma Rodney's car, the car hummed along the highway, and every flickering streetlight that passed outside made my heart beat faster. My stomach twisted, and my hands were fisted so tightly that my nails dug into my palm, almost drawing blood.“Don’t look so nervous,” Rodney muttered, glancing at me briefly. “It’ll only make things worse.”I swallowed hard, trying to steady my trembling voice. “I… I’m fine,” I whispered, though the word tasted like ash on tongueI wasn’t fine. I wasn’t fine at all.Rodney was taking me to an auction. This wasn’t just any auction. This was the legal, high-profile, Alpha-controlled auction — the one every wealthy pack member, every influential Alpha, every member of the North packs and surrounding territories attended. All the women came willingly, they were all dressed to dazzle male wolves, to flirt and to show themselves off. They laughed backstage, adjusting their skimpy gow
