I keep my father's boxing gloves together with his trophies and souvenirs in the last open box.
-The plane leaves in two hours, we have to go- my mother appears in my room, I nod, and with nothing more to say she leaves. I close the box and look at my now old room remembering some moments lived in this one. I take the box and a suitcase that is the last thing left and leave the house leaving it in the trunk. I get into the car and I see from the window the house and my mother talking to the real estate agent and give her the keys and then get into the car. She starts the car and I watch as we slowly drift away from the house until we disappear from my sight.
-When will everything arrive at the apartment?
-Tomorrow morning- she answers politely. My mother is very strict and not very tolerant, everything has to be perfect for her. She wasn't like that before but I guess everything changes.
-Okey- is the only thing I answer. I notice my cell phone vibrating in my pocket.
I will miss you! When you get to NY send me a message. I am already looking forward to the second semester! I love you. ABBY.
I'll miss you too, don't worry, I'll let you know when I get there. I'm looking forward to it too. Bye, bye.
We arrive at the airport where we take our suitcases and my mother gives the keys to one of the movers.

-Passengers on the flight to New York, please proceed to terminal E43 for boarding.
We both got up and headed to the corresponding terminal. We boarded the plane and settled into our respective seats.

Hi By, we just landed, the trip was too boring, when I get to the apartment, we talk.
I hit "send" and put the cell phone away, leaving the airport with our suitcases. My mother orders a cab and after giving her the address we head to the new apartment. When we arrived my mother pays him and we go upstairs in silence to our new "home".
I go straight to what will be my room. It is completely white, with a medium-sized desk, a small dresser, and a bookshelf. To one side is a door where there is a small closet, enough for me. Next to it, there is another one where there is a bathroom. I start to put everything I have in my suitcases in its place.
Once I finish I drop onto the bed looking at the ceiling. I take out a piece of paper with an address written on it. A small debate is created in my mind, am I going or not? I go. I jump up and gather my hair in a messy ponytail. I grab my cell phone, wallet, and new keys. I enter the address into Maps and it gives me directions. It's not far. I walk out of the apartment past my mother telling her I'm going out, she nods in concentration, painting her nails.
We used to live nearby and my dad used to train at that gym with Uncle Bob. I still remember my Aunt Rose, she used to give me candy every time I went. When it all happened my mother and I moved to Los Angeles and now we are back since my mother has been transferred here. We will only be here for a year, according to what she told me and then I think we would move back to LA. But with Abby, we plan to stay and live together here in NY.
Following the Maps, I see the gym. I can tell the years have passed. I put my cell phone away and nervously walk in. I see a lady at the front desk and approach her.
-Good afternoon young lady, what do you want?- she asks kindly, she rings me.
-Hi, I'm Kara Walker, is Bob there- I ask a little shyly.
We hear the little bell at the door and we turn to see if it is Uncle Bob but I get a big and not pleasant surprise when I see the person standing at the door looking at me with hatred, he approaches me and without expecting it I receive an open-handed blow on my cheek, the rings make the blow hurt much more. My head turns in the direction of the painful blow. I grimace and look at her. - You are an ungrateful, insolent little girl and as far as I can see a bitch, your things will be at the door, I don't want bitches in my house that the only thing they do is bother me- she says pissed off. I see Bob standing at the door of the cafeteria looking with surprise at the scene. - What did I do, as far as I know during all these years since what happened I have only been pleasing you- I say starting to get pissed off. - They have called me from the university because of what happened, and I don't even want you to take your father's last name- as soon as she says th
We are in Campbell's car on our way to the university and he still hasn't told me what his idea is. - Are you going to tell me once and for all what your idea is - I ask a little pissed off and he just looks at me mockingly and shakes his head and then fixes his gaze on the road again. I huff angrily and decide to look out the window for the rest of the way. When he parks it's my turn to crawl out of the car where I see Campbell holding in his laughter but he fails and starts laughing to which I elbow him and grab my backpack. - We will go to two of your classes and two of mine. -I ask, I didn't know he studied, and even less here, it's not because of the money, it's because I never imagined him studying. - Yes, any problem? Or the boxer of illegal fights can't study- he says half angry. - I didn't say that, I've never seen you around the campus in the time I've been here and I don't know - I say shrugging my shoulders - what do you st
We enter his apartment after a few long minutes of silence. The walls are white and gray, but a light gray that makes it seem more illuminated. He drags me into the kitchen where he pours himself a glass of water. I observe everything curiously and notice how he looks at me out of the corner of his eye but I don't give him any importance. He leaves the kitchen once he has drunk everything and we walk through a hallway, not very big and enters the room at the back. To my sight appears a room with gray tones and black bedspread, the room is a bit simple and very much in his style. -If you have finished scanning the house, can we take my pajamas? Thank you- he says, making me roll my eyes. He leads us to his closet where he grabs two sweatpants. He holds one out to me. -Thank you- I thank him, he nods and leads us to the bed where I let him change first and then quickly change myself. He gets up and we head to the bathroom where he gives me a new toothbrush. As
On Tuesday I was dodging my mother, who wanted to talk about me quitting boxing. Although we both know it's a waste of time for me to try since I love boxing with all my soul and it's something I've always shared with my father. In the afternoon, after working at Matthew's, I went with Martha to her house to take care of Kaia's little monster for the rest of the afternoon and evening. Once all the chatter and warnings and the management of her school had been released, they left, leaving me with the little girl. We spent the afternoon with tea, movies, homework and dolls. In the evening we decided to make a cabin and she forced me to promise her that Campbell would come to the next sleepover as she spent an hour asking me to call Campbell to come but I managed to convince her, this girl is stubborn. I find myself preparing breakfast while Kaia is sitting at the kitchen island wiggling her feet from the high chair I had to lift her into. I serve her pancakes and we st
Between Martha and Bob stands one with blue eyes like her mother's. Her blonde hair is in two little pink ponytails that match her little dress. Her blonde hair is tied up in two little pink ponytails that match her little dress. -This is our daughter Kaia, Kaia, this is Kara- Martha introduces us. I duck as she comes running towards me. She jumps on top of me and I catch her in time so she doesn't fall. -You're the one who always talks my daddy- she says excitedly and smiles at me showing me some small dimples and her teeth, which have two spaces because of the fall of these making her even more adorable. -How old are you?- I ask her smiling while she has her little hands on my cheeks, she pulls one of them away and shows me four little fingers indicating her age. -I'm a big girl now- she answers proudly. I laugh a little and hold her better. -Of course I am- I nod and put her down. She doesn't let go and as soon as she touches the floor she
Sunday goes by too fast and unfortunately it's Monday. I get out of bed wanting to kill someone so I can sleep for a thousand years. I jump in the shower so I can wake up completely. I do my routine and leave the apartment in good time, strange, but true. I walk leisurely until I reach the busy campus. I go straight to my first class without running into Lilian. The bell rings, ending today's classes, thank goodness. I go straight to the cafeteria. -Hello- I say hello to Martha, there are a couple of customers and today I haven't seen Lilian yet, strange. - Hello pretty -she answers me smiling from behind the bar- can we talk for a second?- she asks and I nod a little bit surprised, she leaves the bar and we sit at one of the many empty tables without any problem since the two customers there are already served. - I wanted to tell you that I know we don't know each other for long but I want you to know that you can count on me for anything, okay little girl?
