Chapter five

Idunnu's p.o.v

I ate my food with relish. First, I was very hungry and then, second, it was so delicious. I guess I'd have to visit this restaurant more often. I was already close to finishing my food when I felt a presence beside me. Turning my head swiftly, my eyes fell on a very familiar figure.

' Hello, beautiful...' He greeted smiling broadly.

Wait! I know this person. He's the one. Yes! The guy who ruined my dress with his wine the other day.

' What do you want? Or rather, what do you want to pour on me this time around?' I replied in a cold tone.

' Once again, I'm sorry for yesterday. Believe me, it was an honest mistake.' He replied still smiling.

' It's okay...' I replied to him and turned back to eating my delicious food. I could still feel his eyes all over me. I ignored it though.

' And where are you off to? Raphael asked as he saw me on my way out of the house. He didn't go to his house since morning.

' Since you can't help me, I'd help myself. It's almost lunch hour so I'm going to that restaurant. Who knows, she might be there again.' I replied.

' Dude, believe me, you're getting crazy. '

' Say whatever you wanna.  I'm off.'

' Alright then. Have a great day.' Raphael replied me filling his mouth with the noodles he just finished cooking.

I wasn't quite sure if I was going to meet her there. But, notwithstanding, there was no harm in trying. I drove in a hurry to the restaurant. On getting there, I looked around but found no one that looked like her. I wasn't ready to give up though. I took a seat and ordered a drink. Something deep inside me told me she was going to come.

I was enjoying the sweet taste of my grape flavored wine when I swerved my head to the left and there are was. She was few tables away from me eating gracefully. I stared at her for a while before deciding to approach her. I adjusted myself and then stood up. I made sure I was wearing my best smile.

   ' Hello, beautiful...' I greeted.

I watched as she stared at me closely. She was probably trying to recollect my face.

' What do you want? Or rather, what do you want to pour on me this time?' She replied coldly. Seems she finally remembered me.

What could I do? I could only apologize again which was what I did.

' It's okay.' She replied accepting my apology and turned to the food she was eating. I took a seat opposite her staring at her and smiling. I didn't know how many minutes have gone by while staring at her and saying nothing.

'  I'd be gone now, Mister...' Was what drew me back to my senses.

' Oh...Alright. Can you..ehm...Can I like get your phone number?' I said after clearing my throat. She didn't reply.

' I mean no harm. I just want to be your friend.' I added quickly suddenly feeling embarrassed.

' I'm sorry. I don't mean to be rude but I don't need new friends.' She replied, picked up her bag, and walked towards the exit.

What was happening? No girl had ever rejected me. Was she still upset about last time? But  I already said I was sorry. I ran after her immediately. She was just about to open her car door and entering.

' Hey...wait up.' I shouted. She stopped and faced me.

   ' Yes..'

' Are you still and at me because of the other day? I said I was sorry. Believe me. Please forgive me.' I pleaded and she smiled.

' I'm not angry. Trust me. I sincerely do not need your friendship. No offense. I really do not mean to be rude.' She replied, opened her car door, and got in. Before I knew it, she was gone again. Damn it!

She might not return to this restaurant again. She might think I'm stalking her. Guess I've lost this one.

' So tell me, did you meet your angel?' Raphael asked immediately I entered. He was still at my house.

' Oh no! Your facial expression tells me you didn't meet her. Too bad!' He whined and chuckled.

' What are you still doing here?' I asked ignoring his teasing.

' Really? After coming to your house early in the morning at your call you want to kick me out because you no longer need me?'

' I called you here because I needed your help and you refused to help me so I do not expect you to still be here.' I replied.

' Too bad. I'm not leaving here tomorrow. Thank God it's a Saturday.' Raph said stuffing popcorn in his big mouth. Such a foodie!

' So tell me, did you meet her? Say something dude..' He added

' Raph, be sincere with me. Have I gotten ugly? Am I still that handsome Michael Leonard every girl adores?'

Raphael seemed surprised at my stupid questions. But can you blame me?

' Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Chills man. What's with the questions?

' I met her. First, she didn't give me attention. Second, she refused to give me her number. Third, she said she doesn't need my friendship. Am I no longer handsome? Ralph, Answer me.' I yelled. However, Raphael was still laughing hard.

' This isn't funny Ralph.' I was getting frustrated.

' Do you know what this means?' Ralph asked suddenly getting serious.

   ' What?'

' You've finally found your match. I love this girl. I need to give her a kudos. She proved to you that your beauty means nothing to her. Guess she's concluded that you're nothing but a playboy.' Raphael replied and burst into laughter again. I groaned angrily.

' Damn you, Raphael.' I said and went up to my room.

' Wow, Stacey! I didn't know you were here.'

   ' Well, here I am.'

' You should have called to inform me.'

' I didn't want to disturb you. You went to lunch, remember? Hope you enjoyed your lunch?'

' Of course, I did. Just had to deal with a certain jerk. But I'm fine. I still enjoyed my meal.' I replied as we both headed to my office.

' A jerk? Tell me about it.'

Stacey so much loved listening to stories. I termed it 'gossiping' while she termed it 'gisting.'

' There's nothing really to tell. He just asked for my number and said he wanted to be my friend. He's definitely one of those playboys.' I replied not wanting to go into full details.

' Oh...Okay..' Stacey replied and sat on the chair opposite mine.

' I.D, I won't be able to spend the night at your place. I have a date with my boss. I'm sorry.'

   ' A date? On a Sunday?'

' Well, yeah. That's the only time he's less busy. I'm sorry.'

' Alright. Whatever. I hope something good comes out of the date. I won't mind sewing your wedding gown.' I joked and she laughed heartily.

   ' You're so not okay.'
