"Sir, I need to get my bag and change out of this red dress," I replied sadly. However, Mr. Karen summoned two security guards to throw me out. "Hey, do not touch me!" I screamed as the two guards walked up to me. They took hold of my arms and carried me out of the club. "Put me down!" I shouted, but the guards acted as if they were deaf and dropped me outside the club. "Leave here! You are not welcome," they said before striding back inside. Stunned, I feared I might have brought bad luck to my best friend, Lucy, but she was not fired. Standing up, I dusted off my arms and legs. I decided to wait for Lucy to finish work so I could get my handbag, as it contained my phone and my clothes. I could not go home wearing this revealing red dress. *What would I explain to my mother?* I paced in front of the club, waiting for Lucy. "Hey! What are you still doing here? Leave!" the security guard at the entrance yelled at me. I replied bluntly, "I need my bag. I am not going anywhere without it." Just then, the club entrance burst open. Two men in black suits, who looked like business partners, walked out. I was stunned to see that one of them was the same handsome man I had spoken with earlier. "Are you all right?" The man asked, rushing over to me. He must have seen me being thrown out. I lowered my head as he approached. I felt terribly uncomfortable in the red dress. I saw him take off his black coat and drape it over my shoulders. "I am sorry, sir, but you do not have to do this. Please, just help me ask them to return my bag," I said to the attractive stranger. I did not know who he was, but he seemed wealthy. I could sense an icy demeanor emanating from his sharp gaze. "Your bag—where is it?" he asked, glancing around. I pointed toward the entrance of the opulent clubhouse. "In there." "Bright, who is she?" the second man asked, addressing the attractive man before me. Now I knew his name. He walked over to join us. "I do not know her, but I saw her earlier when I arrived. I was waiting for you as well. Do you work here?" Bright asked, shifting his attention back to me. He stood close, his gaze intense, as if it were crawling over my skin. "No… I wanted to work here, but I was thrown out," I muttered. His gaze narrowed. "By whom? Come with me. Gabriel, we will meet later," Bright said. He firmly clasped my left hand and led me back into the club. I was stunned and confused—I did not even know him. "Sir, you do not have to worry. I do not want my friend to lose her job because of me," I told him, but he had already taken my hand and was leading me inside. Surprisingly, the security guards did not refuse me entry, nor did they stop the man. *Who is he? Why is he trying to help me?* I wondered as I followed him into the club. "Who threw you out?" he asked. Even over the loud music, I could hear him clearly. I saw Mr. Karen and pointed at him immediately. "He is the boss. I only wanted to take my bag, and I could not do what he asked," I said, lowering my gaze. "Karen," the man called out. My eyes widened at the casual way he addressed the manager. The manager rushed over and looked at me in shock. "Boss, what is the matter? Do you need anything?" Mr. Karen asked, glancing worriedly from me to Bright. "Do you know this woman?" Bright asked, still holding my wrist firmly. Mr. Karen looked at me as I looked back at him. "Yes, Boss. I was trying to help her, but she was driving away our clients," he explained. "How did she refuse to help a client?" Bright asked, his voice stern. I looked from him to Mr. Karen. "Sir, she was rude and did not want to serve the guest," Mr. Karen said, avoiding the real issue. "Is that true, miss?" Bright asked, now looking at me. I met his eyes, which were red—something I had not noticed outside in the darkness. I was surprised; his eyes were red as if he were angry or had recently been crying. "I could not sleep with a stranger. That is why he fired me. He said I would have to sell my body to please the clients," I said, wrapping my arms around my chest. "I see. It is not compulsory that you must do that. Is this why you dismissed her and threw her out? Where is her bag?" Bright asked. Mr. Karen looked at me. "I do not know, Boss. Where is your bag, miss?" I looked at Lucy, who was watching me in surprise. "On the second floor," I said, remembering I had given my bag to Lucy to hold. "Go and get it. I will wait for you," Bright said. I was surprised. *Wait for me? Why should he wait?* Nevertheless, I went back to find Lucy. She went up to the second floor and brought down my bag. Once I had it, I knew I did not have time to change. I apologized to Lucy. "I am sorry." "It is fine, Caro. But how did you meet the boss?" she asked. "The boss? Who is he?" I asked, but I saw the man was still watching me. My cheeks flushed unknowingly. I smiled at him before looking back at Lucy. "I need to hurry back and return his coat," I said. Lucy nodded. "You can go to my house. Here is the spare key." She offered me her key, but I pushed it back toward her. "You hold onto it. I will wait until you finish work," I told her, knowing she closed late. "It is two keys, Caro. Take one. I might not come back on time, as I have a client to meet," she said. I looked at her face, wondering if this was worth it. "You should go. Do not keep the boss waiting. Later, you can tell me where you met him," Lucy said. She quickly walked away before I could explain further. I sighed and looked back at the man, who was still waiting. I walked over to him and removed his coat to return it. "Here is your coat, sir. Thank you for your help," I said, preparing to leave. He asked, "Wait, what is your name?"(Nini's POV)"What? How is my son, Raymond, the father of your child, Nini? Are you lying to us? You don't have to tell a lie," Mrs. Eden asked, her eyes watching me curiously, begging me to tell her the truth."I'm not lying, Ma. Raymond and I had sex. He told me about Bright's infertility and said he could make me pregnant. I thought it was all a lie until the test results came back positive," I said, tears streaming down my cheeks. However, Mrs. Eden marched up to me and smacked me hard across my left cheek."Shut up, you slụt! My son is not the father of your child!" she yelled, her eyes shooting daggers at me. I looked at her in shock, my left hand instinctively flying to cover my cheek—I hadn't expected the slap."That's enough, honey. You don't need to raise your hand to her," Mr. Morgan said calmly, even though his wife was seething with rage. But she yelled, "Get out of our house, you Jezebel! So it was your plan to cause a division between my two sons. Even though Bright isn
(Nini's POV)After I left Bright's office, I made my way to the first floor and left the company. Most of the staff looked at me as if I didn't belong there, as if I should quit my job.I knew that I owed Bright an explanation as to why I had broken up with him. Pregnancy wasn't something to be kept hidden, and I knew that Bright would soon find out that I was pregnant with his brother's child.I had thought Bright would react angrily and maybe hit me or throw me out, but he said he already knew that I had cheated. He said he wasn't angry with me and that I should call Raymond and let him know the pregnancy was his. Bright also advised me to inform his parents. My parents had been calling me nonstop, especially my dad and my older brother. They wanted me to come home, and they wanted to force me to apologize to Bright and get back together with him. But Bright made it clear to my face that he didn't want me again. He said that I should move on, and that he had already moved on too.I
(Bright's POV)I had not expected to run into that woman again in my company. The intimate moments we had shared came flooding back in my mind.I was trying to forget about the time we spent together, and now she was working for me as my new accountant. "Damn it!" I cursed and made my way into my office on the top floor of the five-story building. As I paced about in my office, I considered whether I should accept Jeff's offer to transfer her to his company, even though he was younger than me.I shook my head and decided against it."No. Let me see what she is capable of. After all, she is not pursuing me, and she didn't look at me in a way that suggests she wants me again. She clearly understood that it was a one-night stand."As I settled in my office chair, trying to calm my nerves, my office line rang. My secretary, Rita, informed me, "Sir, Mr. Ford is requesting to see you.""Let him in," I replied, before ending the call.A few minutes later, Jeff walked into my office with a s
(Bright's POV) "What? How sure are you that the pregnancy belongs to Raymond? Haha, just cut the joke, Nini. I don’t like jokes, and you know it," I said, laughing sadly and wondering if Nini was playing a trick on me. "I’m not joking, Bright. Raymond invited me over some months ago after you and I stopped having sex. I’m sure he’s the one, but he doesn’t love me. I don’t know how to tell him, and I didn’t want to lie to you about my pregnancy. It’s why I broke up with you. But I still love you, Bright. Please..." Nini stepped forward, reaching for my hands. Just then, Richard entered my office and lowered his head. "Sir, I brought your request," he said, glancing from me to Nini. "It’s fine, Richard. Bring it in," I replied, not sending Richard away despite Nini’s presence. I was shocked by Nini’s confession about why she broke up with me. Sunny and Gideon had already told me that Nini had been cheating, so I was prepared for the worst. It was why I wanted to move on and let her b
(Carolina's POV) When I rose to leave my new office, I paused at the door and glanced back once more. "It felt good to be a new accountant and finally have a job," I said. A smile crept up on my lips, and my heart fluttered with a wave of excitement as I exited my office on the second floor. I made my way to the cafeteria on the third floor. **** (Bright's POV) I sat in my office chair, working on some business projects on my computer, my fingers clicked with precise movements as I worked on the project at hand. I had been too preoccupied to visit my company branch, so I made an arrangement with my partner, Mr. Jeff Ford to handle the hiring process for me, because I wanted only professionals hired. The day flew by quickly, and before I knew it, it was afternoon. My phone rang aloud with an incoming call, breaking the peacefulness in my office. My hand instinctively reached for my phone as I picked it up, and my eyes stared at the caller. It was an incoming call from Gabriel
(Carolina's POV) The crowd dwindled as many people walked out of the Human Resources department with disappointed looks on their faces. Soon, it was my turn. I rose from my chair and walked toward the interview room. I sucked in a deep breath, believing that I would pass the interview. The last interview had taught me to dress decently at work. They weren't searching for only brains, but also for how modest their employees appeared. When I walked into the vast office, the man who sat behind his desk raised his head and peered at me. "You!" I gasped, seeing he was the stalker. "Mmm," his brows furrowed as he looked at me from head to toe. "You want to work here? As a new staff member?" he asked, his lips curling into a smile. I couldn't believe that he worked for Morgan Groups. I thought he was the boss of his own company. "Yes…" I spluttered, clearing my throat, and he smiled. "I understand that look of surprise on your face. Actually, I don't work here. Bright hired me to run
