Masuk(Carolina's POV)
"I want to get my bag and change out of this red dress," I replied, my voice sad. But Mr. Karen ordered two security men to throw me outside. "Hey, don't touch me! Let me go!" I screamed as the two security men bundled me like I was an unwanted guest and threw me out of the club. They grabbed my arms and threw me out of the clubhouse, I screamed, "Put me down!" But they were deaf and dropped me outside the club. "Leave here! You're not welcome again," the burly men warned me before striding back into the club. Sighing, I feared I had brought bad luck to my best friend. Thankfully, Lucy wasn't fired. As I stood on my feet, dusting my arms and legs after the security men had thrown me on the floor, I waited in front of the clubhouse for Lucy to close from work so I could get my old handbag, because it contained my phone and my old clothes. I couldn't go back home in this revealing red dress that I was wearing. 'What would I explain to my mother?' So I paced about at the front of the club, watching the guests striding in and leaving, as I waited for Lucy to close. "Hey! What are you still doing here? Leave now!" the first security man who had earlier given me a scare at the entrance yelled at me, but I replied bluntly, "I need my bag. I am not going anywhere without my bag." I glared at him, but before he could reply, the club entrance burst open, and two men in black suits, like business partners, walked outside. However, my eyes widened in shock when I met their gaze. One of the men was the same handsome man whom I was chatting with earlier. "Hey, are you alright?" The man asked, rushing over to me and seeing my embarrassed state. I was sure he had seen when I was thrown out of the club, so I lowered my head as he approached me. I was so uncomfortable in the red dress that I was wearing, and I saw him taking off his black coat and draping it around my shoulders. "I'm sorry, sir, but you don't have to do this. Just help me tell them to return my bag to me," I spoke with a sad voice to the attractive stranger, even though I didn't know who he was. He seemed like a wealthy man, even though I could feel the icy demeanor emanating from his sharp gaze. "Your bag. Where is it?" he asked, glancing around in search of my bag, and I pointed at the entrance of the opulent clubhouse. "In there." "Bright! Who is she?" the second man asked the attractive man before me, making me know his name, as he walked up to us. "I do not know her, but I saw her earlier when I arrived, and I was waiting for you too. You can leave, Gabriel. We will talk later," Bright said, dismissing his friend before he looked at me. "Do you work here?" Bright asked, shifting his attention back to me. As he stood next to me, his gaze crawled on my skin and pinned me intensely. "No… I wanted to work here, but I was thrown out," I muttered, and his gaze narrowed. "By who? Come with me," Bright said as he clasped my right hand and led me back into the club. I was stunned and confused, as I didn't know him. "Sir, you don't have to worry about me. I don't want my friend to lose her job because of me," I told him, but he already had clasped my hand and was leading me back into the club. Surprisingly, the security men didn't refuse to allow me to enter, and they didn't stop Bright either. 'Who is he? Was he truly a big shot? Why is he trying to help me?' I pondered as I followed him into the club. "Who threw you out!" Bright demanded, as we stood in the lobby. The music was loud, and I could hear him. However, I saw Mr. Karen standing with a man and pointed at him. "He's the boss. I only want to take my bag, and I cannot do what he says," I said, my gaze lowered. "Karen," Bright called, and my jaw dropped at the way he called the manager's name. The manager rushed to meet us and looked at me in shock. "Boss, what is the matter? Do you need anything?" Mr. Karen asked Bright, looking from me to Bright worriedly. "Do you know this woman?" Bright asked, still holding my right hand firmly. Mr. Karen looked at me nervously as I peered at him too. "Um… Yes, Boss. I was trying to help her, but she is chasing our clients," he explained. "How did she refuse to help your client?" Bright demanded, his tone sharp, and I looked from him to Mr. Karen, confused. "Sir, she was rude and didn't want to serve the guest," Mr. Karen fumbled to explain, his voice quavering. "Hmm. Is that true, miss?" Bright asked, now looking at me. I met his red eyes, which I hadn't seen from standing outside with him due to the darkness outside. I was surprised because his eyes were red like the devil's, like he was angry or previously shedding tears. "Um, Yes. I cannot sleep with a stranger; that is why he sacked me. He said that I will have to sell my body to please the clients," I replied, my voice laced with irritation and my arms wrapped around my chest, as I pulled my wrist away from his hold. "Mm... It's not compulsory that you must do that. And is this why you dismissed her and threw her out? Mr. Karen, we have rules not to force anyone. Where is her bag?" Bright demanded, and Mr. Karen looked at me. "I do not know, Boss. Where is your bag, miss?" Mr. Karen asked me, and I shifted my gaze to look at Lucy, who was standing a few distance away and looking at me in surprise. "On the second floor," I said, recalling that I gave my bag to Lucy to keep for me. "Go and get it, and I will wait for you," Bright said, and I looked at him with shock. 'Wait for me? Why should he wait?' I pondered, but didn't voice it out. However, I went back to find Lucy, and she went up to the second floor and brought my bag. After I got my bag, I knew that I didn't have the time to change out of my red dress, and I apologized to Lucy. "I am sorry." "It's fine, Caro, but how did you meet the big boss?" "The big boss? Who is he?" I asked her, but seeing Bright was looking at me with sharp brown eyes, my cheeks flushed, and I looked back at Lucy. "I need to hurry back and return his coat," I said, inhaling the pine scent on the coat, and Lucy nodded. "Alright. You can go to my house. Here's the spare key," Lucy gave her spare key to me, but I pushed it back to her hand. "You hold it. I will wait until you close from work," I said, knowing that she closed late. "It's two keys, Caro. Take it. I might not be coming back on time, and I have a client to meet with," Lucy said, and I looked at her face, wondering if this was worth it. "You have to go and do not keep the big boss waiting. Later, you will tell me where you met him," Lucy said, before walking away to continue her job. I sighed and looked back at Bright, who was still waiting for me. Then I walked over to him and pulled off his black coat to return it to him. "Here's your coat, sir. Thanks for your help," I said, wanting to leave, but he held my left hand and asked, "Wait, Miss, what's your name?"(Nini's POV)"What? How is my son, Raymond, the father of your child, Nini? Are you lying to us? You don't have to tell a lie," Mrs. Eden asked, her eyes watching me curiously, begging me to tell her the truth."I'm not lying, Ma. Raymond and I had sex. He told me about Bright's infertility and said he could make me pregnant. I thought it was all a lie until the test results came back positive," I said, tears streaming down my cheeks. However, Mrs. Eden marched up to me and smacked me hard across my left cheek."Shut up, you slụt! My son is not the father of your child!" she yelled, her eyes shooting daggers at me. I looked at her in shock, my left hand instinctively flying to cover my cheek—I hadn't expected the slap."That's enough, honey. You don't need to raise your hand to her," Mr. Morgan said calmly, even though his wife was seething with rage. But she yelled, "Get out of our house, you Jezebel! So it was your plan to cause a division between my two sons. Even though Bright isn
(Nini's POV)After I left Bright's office, I made my way to the first floor and left the company. Most of the staff looked at me as if I didn't belong there, as if I should quit my job.I knew that I owed Bright an explanation as to why I had broken up with him. Pregnancy wasn't something to be kept hidden, and I knew that Bright would soon find out that I was pregnant with his brother's child.I had thought Bright would react angrily and maybe hit me or throw me out, but he said he already knew that I had cheated. He said he wasn't angry with me and that I should call Raymond and let him know the pregnancy was his. Bright also advised me to inform his parents. My parents had been calling me nonstop, especially my dad and my older brother. They wanted me to come home, and they wanted to force me to apologize to Bright and get back together with him. But Bright made it clear to my face that he didn't want me again. He said that I should move on, and that he had already moved on too.I
(Bright's POV)I had not expected to run into that woman again in my company. The intimate moments we had shared came flooding back in my mind.I was trying to forget about the time we spent together, and now she was working for me as my new accountant. "Damn it!" I cursed and made my way into my office on the top floor of the five-story building. As I paced about in my office, I considered whether I should accept Jeff's offer to transfer her to his company, even though he was younger than me.I shook my head and decided against it."No. Let me see what she is capable of. After all, she is not pursuing me, and she didn't look at me in a way that suggests she wants me again. She clearly understood that it was a one-night stand."As I settled in my office chair, trying to calm my nerves, my office line rang. My secretary, Rita, informed me, "Sir, Mr. Ford is requesting to see you.""Let him in," I replied, before ending the call.A few minutes later, Jeff walked into my office with a s
(Bright's POV) "What? How sure are you that the pregnancy belongs to Raymond? Haha, just cut the joke, Nini. I don’t like jokes, and you know it," I said, laughing sadly and wondering if Nini was playing a trick on me. "I’m not joking, Bright. Raymond invited me over some months ago after you and I stopped having sex. I’m sure he’s the one, but he doesn’t love me. I don’t know how to tell him, and I didn’t want to lie to you about my pregnancy. It’s why I broke up with you. But I still love you, Bright. Please..." Nini stepped forward, reaching for my hands. Just then, Richard entered my office and lowered his head. "Sir, I brought your request," he said, glancing from me to Nini. "It’s fine, Richard. Bring it in," I replied, not sending Richard away despite Nini’s presence. I was shocked by Nini’s confession about why she broke up with me. Sunny and Gideon had already told me that Nini had been cheating, so I was prepared for the worst. It was why I wanted to move on and let her b
(Carolina's POV) When I rose to leave my new office, I paused at the door and glanced back once more. "It felt good to be a new accountant and finally have a job," I said. A smile crept up on my lips, and my heart fluttered with a wave of excitement as I exited my office on the second floor. I made my way to the cafeteria on the third floor. **** (Bright's POV) I sat in my office chair, working on some business projects on my computer, my fingers clicked with precise movements as I worked on the project at hand. I had been too preoccupied to visit my company branch, so I made an arrangement with my partner, Mr. Jeff Ford to handle the hiring process for me, because I wanted only professionals hired. The day flew by quickly, and before I knew it, it was afternoon. My phone rang aloud with an incoming call, breaking the peacefulness in my office. My hand instinctively reached for my phone as I picked it up, and my eyes stared at the caller. It was an incoming call from Gabriel
(Carolina's POV) The crowd dwindled as many people walked out of the Human Resources department with disappointed looks on their faces. Soon, it was my turn. I rose from my chair and walked toward the interview room. I sucked in a deep breath, believing that I would pass the interview. The last interview had taught me to dress decently at work. They weren't searching for only brains, but also for how modest their employees appeared. When I walked into the vast office, the man who sat behind his desk raised his head and peered at me. "You!" I gasped, seeing he was the stalker. "Mmm," his brows furrowed as he looked at me from head to toe. "You want to work here? As a new staff member?" he asked, his lips curling into a smile. I couldn't believe that he worked for Morgan Groups. I thought he was the boss of his own company. "Yes…" I spluttered, clearing my throat, and he smiled. "I understand that look of surprise on your face. Actually, I don't work here. Bright hired me to run
