FAZER LOGIN(Carolina's POV)
Lucy and I arrived on the second floor. She quickly browsed through a red dress that was too short and too revealing. "What is this? I cannot wear this," I told Lucy, immediately rejecting the dress. She laughed. "You have to wear something revealing, Joy. Hurry up," Lucy said, throwing the dress at me to change into. "Are you going to make me pay for this dress? I do not have the money, and I am already in debt to you," I told Lucy as I caught the dress, holding it carefully so it would not tear. "Go and change, Joy. You work here now, and the cost of the dress will be deducted from your monthly paycheck," Lucy said. I looked at her in disbelief. "Lucy, I have not earned any money yet. I do not even know how much I will be paid, and you are putting me further into debt," I told her, wanting to refuse the dress. "Do you want to use the exit door? Either you put this dress on, or you leave this club. My boss, Mr. Karen Walker, is not as merciful as you think. He prioritizes appearances to make customers happy and feel at home. So hurry up," Lucy said flatly. I swallowed my objections. I went into the fitting room and changed out of my old clothes. When I put on the new red dress, it hugged my figure and exposed my breasts plainly. "Oh no. Why do I have to wear this?" I muttered, feeling uncomfortable. But remembering my mother’s words—that I should not come home again—I knew I had no choice but to do as Lucy suggested. Taking one final look at my reflection in the mirror, I walked out of the fitting room. I held my handbag, inside which I had stuffed my old clothes and my phone. "Now you look splendid. Let us go," Lucy said, dragging me away and leading me back to the first floor. She did not pay for the dress, only showing her membership card to the female staff in charge of the exquisite boutique. I was tense as Lucy and I stepped out of the elevator. She led me to meet Mr. Karen again. "Boss, here is my friend," Lucy said. Mr. Karen looked at me in surprise. His eyes widened, and he nodded. "That is fine. Show her how to entertain the men. I will see you both later," Mr. Karen said, quickly dismissing us. I felt nervous about what he meant by “entertain the men.” Lucy led me to the exclusive bar tables. She asked the man seated there, "Hello, excuse me, sir. What would you like to order tonight?" I saw other waitresses working and serving drinks. The man looked at Lucy first, then his eyes shifted to me. They widened in shock, much like Mr. Karen’s had. I blamed my large bust for the attention. "Hello, may I get to know more about you?" the young man said to me. I shook my head and looked at Lucy for help. "Sorry, sir. My friend is new here and cannot be at your service tonight. Please let me know what you would like to order," Lucy said, taking over. The man narrowed his eyes at Lucy. I did not expect him to cause a scene, but he stood and said, "If you do not allow her to serve me, then I am leaving!" My jaw dropped. Before I knew it, Mr. Karen hurried over and stopped at the man’s table. "Excuse me, sir. There is no need to be upset. What would you like my girls to do for you?" Mr. Karen asked the angry client. The man’s lips curled into a sinister smile. "I want her to serve me. I am willing to have her tonight—for one million. What do you say?" he asked Mr. Karen. My jaw dropped again. "What? I am not for sale!" I said before Mr. Karen could reply. "You slụt! If you are not for sale, then why are you dressed like one?" the man taunted. My eyes reddened with unshed tears. I had graduated with first-class honors, but finding a job was hard. The city was full of millions of people—even this Blues Club. "Calm down, sir. She is new, and this is her first time working with us," Mr. Karen said, speaking politely despite the man’s rudeness. I had not expected my first client to be so rude. What if he was involved with the mafia? Dread washed over me. "I assume she is not a virgin. 1.2 million," he said, raising his price. He was determined to have me. Mr. Karen looked at me and asked, "What do you say?" "What? I refuse!" I snapped. I could not go with this ruthless man. What if he killed me? No. "Then I am leaving!" the man said. He stood up and walked away. I frowned, relieved that Mr. Karen did not call him back. But then he looked at me and said, "You are fired." "What? You cannot fire me, sir. Please give me a second chance," I begged, following Mr. Karen. Lucy looked at me pitifully. "Do not follow me, young woman. This is the city. If you cannot work for the money, then leave now." "No, please. That man was too scary. I was afraid. I might have agreed if he had been nicer," I said. Mr. Karen shook his head firmly. "You are too beautiful for this job. Find other work. Leave before I call security to throw you out," he ordered. I lowered my head, knowing that pleading was useless. "I am sorry, Lucy," I mumbled to my best friend. I turned to walk back toward the elevator to retrieve my bag and change on the second floor. However, Mr. Karen’s stern voice stopped me. "Hey! Where are you going? Get out of here!" I froze and turned back to look at him in shock.(Nini's POV)"What? How is my son, Raymond, the father of your child, Nini? Are you lying to us? You don't have to tell a lie," Mrs. Eden asked, her eyes watching me curiously, begging me to tell her the truth."I'm not lying, Ma. Raymond and I had sex. He told me about Bright's infertility and said he could make me pregnant. I thought it was all a lie until the test results came back positive," I said, tears streaming down my cheeks. However, Mrs. Eden marched up to me and smacked me hard across my left cheek."Shut up, you slụt! My son is not the father of your child!" she yelled, her eyes shooting daggers at me. I looked at her in shock, my left hand instinctively flying to cover my cheek—I hadn't expected the slap."That's enough, honey. You don't need to raise your hand to her," Mr. Morgan said calmly, even though his wife was seething with rage. But she yelled, "Get out of our house, you Jezebel! So it was your plan to cause a division between my two sons. Even though Bright isn
(Nini's POV)After I left Bright's office, I made my way to the first floor and left the company. Most of the staff looked at me as if I didn't belong there, as if I should quit my job.I knew that I owed Bright an explanation as to why I had broken up with him. Pregnancy wasn't something to be kept hidden, and I knew that Bright would soon find out that I was pregnant with his brother's child.I had thought Bright would react angrily and maybe hit me or throw me out, but he said he already knew that I had cheated. He said he wasn't angry with me and that I should call Raymond and let him know the pregnancy was his. Bright also advised me to inform his parents. My parents had been calling me nonstop, especially my dad and my older brother. They wanted me to come home, and they wanted to force me to apologize to Bright and get back together with him. But Bright made it clear to my face that he didn't want me again. He said that I should move on, and that he had already moved on too.I
(Bright's POV)I had not expected to run into that woman again in my company. The intimate moments we had shared came flooding back in my mind.I was trying to forget about the time we spent together, and now she was working for me as my new accountant. "Damn it!" I cursed and made my way into my office on the top floor of the five-story building. As I paced about in my office, I considered whether I should accept Jeff's offer to transfer her to his company, even though he was younger than me.I shook my head and decided against it."No. Let me see what she is capable of. After all, she is not pursuing me, and she didn't look at me in a way that suggests she wants me again. She clearly understood that it was a one-night stand."As I settled in my office chair, trying to calm my nerves, my office line rang. My secretary, Rita, informed me, "Sir, Mr. Ford is requesting to see you.""Let him in," I replied, before ending the call.A few minutes later, Jeff walked into my office with a s
(Bright's POV) "What? How sure are you that the pregnancy belongs to Raymond? Haha, just cut the joke, Nini. I don’t like jokes, and you know it," I said, laughing sadly and wondering if Nini was playing a trick on me. "I’m not joking, Bright. Raymond invited me over some months ago after you and I stopped having sex. I’m sure he’s the one, but he doesn’t love me. I don’t know how to tell him, and I didn’t want to lie to you about my pregnancy. It’s why I broke up with you. But I still love you, Bright. Please..." Nini stepped forward, reaching for my hands. Just then, Richard entered my office and lowered his head. "Sir, I brought your request," he said, glancing from me to Nini. "It’s fine, Richard. Bring it in," I replied, not sending Richard away despite Nini’s presence. I was shocked by Nini’s confession about why she broke up with me. Sunny and Gideon had already told me that Nini had been cheating, so I was prepared for the worst. It was why I wanted to move on and let her b
(Carolina's POV) When I rose to leave my new office, I paused at the door and glanced back once more. "It felt good to be a new accountant and finally have a job," I said. A smile crept up on my lips, and my heart fluttered with a wave of excitement as I exited my office on the second floor. I made my way to the cafeteria on the third floor. **** (Bright's POV) I sat in my office chair, working on some business projects on my computer, my fingers clicked with precise movements as I worked on the project at hand. I had been too preoccupied to visit my company branch, so I made an arrangement with my partner, Mr. Jeff Ford to handle the hiring process for me, because I wanted only professionals hired. The day flew by quickly, and before I knew it, it was afternoon. My phone rang aloud with an incoming call, breaking the peacefulness in my office. My hand instinctively reached for my phone as I picked it up, and my eyes stared at the caller. It was an incoming call from Gabriel
(Carolina's POV) The crowd dwindled as many people walked out of the Human Resources department with disappointed looks on their faces. Soon, it was my turn. I rose from my chair and walked toward the interview room. I sucked in a deep breath, believing that I would pass the interview. The last interview had taught me to dress decently at work. They weren't searching for only brains, but also for how modest their employees appeared. When I walked into the vast office, the man who sat behind his desk raised his head and peered at me. "You!" I gasped, seeing he was the stalker. "Mmm," his brows furrowed as he looked at me from head to toe. "You want to work here? As a new staff member?" he asked, his lips curling into a smile. I couldn't believe that he worked for Morgan Groups. I thought he was the boss of his own company. "Yes…" I spluttered, clearing my throat, and he smiled. "I understand that look of surprise on your face. Actually, I don't work here. Bright hired me to run
