Carolina's POV:
Lucy and I arrived at the second floor, and she quickly browsed through a red dress that was too short and too exposing. "What's this? I cannot put this on," I told her, quickly rejecting the dress, and she laughed. "Joy, you have to wear something revealing. So hurry up," Lucy said, quickly throwing the red dress at me to change out of my old clothes. "Hey, are you going to make payment for this red dress? I do not have the money to pay for it, and I am also owing you," I told Lucy, once I caught the dress and held it carefully so that it didn't get torn. "Go and change, Joy. You work here now, and the cost of the red dress will be deducted from your monthly paycheck," Lucy said, and I looked at her face with disbelief. "Lucy, I haven't even earned money yet, and I don't know how much I will be paid monthly, and you are acquiring debt," I told her, wanting to reject the red dress, and she asked me, "Do you want to use the exit door? It's either you put this red dress on or you leave this club. Mr. Karen Walker isn't as merciful as you think. He prioritizes looking good to make customers happy and feel at home. So hurry up," Lucy said, and I gulped back all I had to say. I went into the fitting room and changed out of my old clothes. As I donned the new red dress, it hugged my figure and revealed my boobs to the náked eye. "Oh no! Why will I have to wear this?" I was uncomfortable, but recalling my mother's words that I shouldn't come back home again, I knew that I did not have any other choice left than to do what Lucy suggested. Taking one final look at my alluring self, I walked out of the fitting room, holding my handbag, which I had stuffed my old clothes inside. My phone was there too. "No, you look splendid. Let's go," Lucy said, as she dragged me away and led me back to the first floor. I was tense as we walked out of the elevator, and she led me to meet Mr. Karen again. "Boss, here's my friend," Lucy said, and I saw Mr. Karen look at me in surprise. His eyes widened in shock, and he nodded. "It's fine. Show her how to entertain the men. I will see you both later," Mr. Karen quickly dismissed Lucy and me. And I was nervous about what he meant by "entertain the men." Lucy led me to the exclusive bar tables, and she asked the man seated there, "Hello, excuse me, sir? What would you like to order for tonight?" I saw other waitresses working and serving drinks. The man looked at Lucy first before his eyes shifted to look at me. His eyes widened in shock like Karen's, and I blamed myself for having a huge milk factory on the top of my chest. "Hi, can I get to know more about you?" the young man said, and I shook my head and looked at Lucy for her help. "Sorry, sir. My friend is new here, and she cannot be at your service for tonight. Just let me know what your orders are?" Lucy asked, taking over the job. The man's eyes narrowed at Lucy, and I didn't expect him to cause a scene. He stood up and said, "If you do not allow her to serve me, then I am out of here!" My jaw hit the ground, and before I knew it, Mr. Karen hurried over and stopped at the man's table. "Hey, Mr. You do not have to get annoyed. What do you want my girls to do for you?" Karen asked the angry client, whose lips curled into a sinister smile. "I want her to serve me. I am willing to have her tonight—1 million. What do you say?" he asked Mr. Karen, and my jaw dropped. "What? I am not for sale!" I told him, even before Karen could find words to tell the man. "You bìtch! If you are not for sale, then why are you dressed like one?" the man taunted, and my eyes reddened with unshed tears. I had graduated with first-class honors, only that finding a job was hard. The city was full of millions of people—even this Blues Clubhouse. "Calm down, sir. She is new, and this is her first time working with us," Mr. Karen said, speaking with the man politely despite the man's rudeness. I hadn't expected my first client for tonight would be a rude man. I thought, what if he was a mafia? Dread washed over me, and I heard him say, "It's not like she is a virgin? 1.2 million." He raised the price, determined to have me. And Karen looked at me and asked, "What do you say?" "What? I refuse!" I snapped, as I could not follow this ruthless man. What if he killed me? No way. "Then I am out of here!" The man stood up and walked away, and I frowned. Thankfully, Karen didn't try to call the man back, but he looked at me and said, "You're fired." "What? You cannot fire me, sir. Please, give me a second chance," I begged, following Mr. Karen, and Lucy looked at me pitifully. "Do not follow me, young woman. This is the city, and if you cannot work for the money, then take your leave now." "No, please. That man was too scary. I am afraid, and it's not like I will not agree if he was nicer," I said, and Karen shook his head firmly. "You are too beautiful for this job. Find another work to do. Leave before I call the security men to bounce you out," he ordered, and I lowered my head, knowing that pleading with him was a waste. "I am sorry, Lucy," I said to my best friend as I turned to walk back to the elevator to retrieve my bag and change out of my clothes. However, Karen's stern voice stopped me. "Hey! Where are you going to? Get out of here!" I stilled and turned to look back at him.**CAROLINA'S POV**"Sister, do you see that black Jeep that is parked outside our house? Wow!" My younger sister, Violet, asked as she walked into the kitchen to meet me and Mom. However, Mom and I remained silent, as we didn't gush over the Jeep Violet was admiring."Good evening, Mom. Sister, what's wrong? Didn't you all see the Jeep? It's parked outside," Violet said as she entered the kitchen through the back door."So what should we do if the Jeep is beautiful? The lady who parked that Jeep insulted Carolina today and accused your sister of sleeping with her man," Mom said, anger evident in her voice. Violet gasped, "What? Carolina, you slept with her boyfriend?"I looked away from Violet's face, as I didn't have an explanation to give her."Violet, Carolina explained to me that the man said he was single. I assume that is why that lady is here to live with Salma. You should keep your distance from Salma, since that arrogant woman is her friend," Mom cautioned my sister, as she w
**CAROLINA'S POV**"Carolina, open this door! Who is that young woman, and what is she talking about?" My mother pounded on the door of my room that I shared with my sisters. I know that I made a mistake to have slept with Bright for money, but how would I have known that his ex-fiancée would haunt me everywhere that I go now?Despite how big the city was, why must I run into her in the rented apartment that we live in? Knowing that I couldn't run away from my family, I pulled my room door open to face my mother. I was already exhausted, and I made up my mind to leave home.I cannot face my parents, looking at me with guilt. So I packed up my black box of clothes to leave the house. Mom looked at me in shock when she saw me holding onto my black box of clothes to leave the house."Carolina, where are you going to?" Mom asked, her voice lowering as she peered at me."Mom, I cannot stay here again. I know that I made a mistake, but I need time to think about it. I am sorry," I sobbed, a
Nini's POV:The car ride was silent, as only the sound of the engine and the vehicles that I drove past filled the air.Mirabel paced anxiously in her seat next to me as she feared for the unknown to not have happened to our father. As I arrived at the hospital, where my father was rushed too. I drove my car into the hospital grounds and parked it.Mirabel didn't wait for me to get out of my car. She unfastened her seatbelt, got out, and ran ahead to the hospital building, before entering the outpatient ward.Sighing, I unfastened my seatbelt and got out of the car, before locking my car door. Then I forced my legs to move and went into the hospital lobby to find my family. However, as I entered the lobby, my elder brother, Johnson, appeared before me. He delivered a powerful slap that landed on my left cheek and made me stagger two steps backward."Are you crazy, Nini! How dare you break up with Bright and went as far as calling his family and telling them that it was over between yo
Nini's POV:"If I had known, I wouldn't have broken up with Bright. I wouldn't have told him it was over," I said, crying against my best friend's embrace."Nini, if you continue crying like this, you will fall sick. Just calm down alright. And if you still love Bright, you can go and see him and plead with him," Salma encouraged me, but I knew Bright. Once he made up his mind, there was no going back."It's fine. I will be fine. Where can I sleep? I stopped by a boutique and shopped for some dresses since I won't be able to face my parents. The doctors warned me not to get stressed, so I do not lose my baby," I said, and Salma smiled with understanding."Come and stay in my room. Your parents will forgive you when they calm down. They obviously do not know how hurt you were. They were only concerned about Bright's money. Come on," Salma showed me to her room to sleep.I carried my handbag, as my luggage was still left in my car trunk."My luggage is in the car. Later, I will get it,"
Nini's POV:I still cannot believe that Bright hooked up with another woman barely 24 hours after I broke up with him.I had expected Bright to call me. To beg me not to leave him like always, but he brought another woman to his house and slept with her.Was he waiting for us to call off the engagement so that he could cheat? All my plans went down the drain as I waited in vain for Bright's call. When I had rushed to his house the following morning, as we used to live together before our breakup.I was stunned to see that pretty fair lady leaving his house."What? Who are you and what are you doing in my man's house?" I wanted to strangle that woman. What gave her the audacity to hook up with Bright?I dated Bright for five years. I had him wrapped around my finger, but he couldn't get me pregnant.Only one mistake. One night with his brother and I am already pregnant with Raymond's child.I wasn't expecting Bright to propose to me the previous Wednesday at his club. How do I tell him
Carolina's POV:"Are you serious? Like where did you see the man?" Lucy asked as I stopped and sipped my coconut juice, taking a look around the busy road. "Before I arrived here. He was stalking me and asking me on a date. He wants me to be his woman," I said, and Lucy's jaw dropped."And what did you tell him?""I'm not interested," I replied, taking another sip from the juice as I finished it."What?" Lucy was stunned."I still do not understand you, Carolina. Do you mean that man who offered to pay you 1.2 million to sleep with him met you and asked you out?" Lucy queried.Finishing my juice, I discarded the cup and turned to face Lucy."Yes. Let's go shopping. I have to purchase a new dress as I have an interview tomorrow," I said, while Lucy frowned.Lucy finished her own coconut juice and discarded the cup and straw, and she followed me to the boutique to do some shopping."Honestly, Caro. If you don't want the man, link me to him," my best friend said, as I browsed through th
