The sound of someone running into the house like he was being chased, while breathing heavily, got everyone's attention.

The maids, and guard, hurried outside to check who it was, not until they saw jasper all sweaty and breathing non-stop while he ran into the house.

They knew something must have gone wrong for him to run in such a way, not caring if he was disheveled. He is the time that cares about his looks, and believes that first impression matter's the most.
