I'll spare the long drive to Las Vegas which wasn't the ideal kind like shown in the movies. It was like we were resurrected as zombies with dark under-eye bags and hair disheveled, practically a nest for a bird to settle in.
Or it was just my hair that would resemble a nest. Curly hair, my friends. I'm the only one from the squad to have such hair.
Aside from that, we safely landed in Las Vegas having to almost hustle against jerks on the Jeep who raced us on the highway, and Hailey was hyped and streaked our ride, cutting the duration of the long trip.
"Finally! I am able to stand rather than sit for hours." Meredith exclaimed, plopping down on the grass.
Hailey went off to book us a room in the hotel by herself and I wasn't gonna protest over it. The money I earn goes straight to my ravenous hunger strike stomach and the college expenses as well.
Meredith, well... I clearly have no idea what she does. She's this slim girl in our squad whose weight doesn't increase. Sadly, I'm the kind of girl who gains after stuffing junk in my mouth.
But, as long as I'm having fun, I don't care. I have an average weight, between the scale of underweight and overweight, so I don't need to impel for workouts.
Hailey walked over to us, grumbling under her breath with a frown of fury.
"You look like you had a fight in there, did you?" I asked, pushing myself up from the hood of the car I was sitting on.
"Oh, yes I did. That sickening lady gave a room to some other group. I was the first one to ask for the room but since they're so handsome and good looking, she handed it over to them." She ranted, gesturing vigorously with her hands.
"What?! I have to sleep. We need to get that room back." Meredith jumped on her feet, stretching and warming up her body.
"Or we can search for another hotel," I suggested but their fused indignation ignored that. "Or not..." I added, mumbling.
Here's the thing, they would never accept the unfair treatment towards them and it's fab but right now, that isn't important.
"Let's go and let's get our room back." Hailey declared, fisting her palm.
I sighed, helping myself clamber up into the car which they sent pointed questionable looks.
"If it worsens, I'll be your backup," I said, dismissing them and sliding down the seat in a comfortable state.
I don't know where they got the energy to contend but I have zero percent of the strength to even stand up. I closed my eyes, exhaling as I let the serenity rise in the back of my spine and spread into the warm coziness of a fresh homely smell.
Too soon for that, because once I kicked into the peaceful zone, disconnecting the worldly constant problems, a shrill broke out the pattern of my relaxation.
I groaned, crunching my face into a twisted wail. "Gosh! I'll kill whoever disturbed me."
I roughly pushed the door open, slamming it shut and striding with heavy steps inside the hotel.
I didn't know how it was going to be displayed before my eyes. In short, I almost thought I'd ended up in a wild zoo except for a wild zoo of humans.
"Hailey!" I gasped out, pulling her down from the man who she was making go bonkers by pulling his hair.
"Let go of me!" Hailey squealed, grasping a handful of his hair and hauling him down with her.
I slapped her steel-like grip hand that wasn't ready to let go of the poor man's hair. He had caramel luscious hair but Hailey is soon going to turn him into a baldy.
Without much effort and as breathless as I got from that little stunt, I put my hands over my waist, took a deep breath, and regained the energy to drag Hailey completely away from the man.
"Fight like a man!" Meredith shouted, prepared to throw her taekwondo skills in the combat.
My eyes widened, skipping a beat in my heart as I let go of Hailey who had half her weight on me, and instantly fell due to the impact.
"Sorry." I squeaked, jogging over to Meredith who was about to throw a punch at him.
I thought I would be able to stop her before the time but my sweet dear clumsiness is ready to have its daily check-in with me.
So I collided against the showcase vase which was close to my height and scarily it toppled, falling on me.
Before even having the impact of contact, as a reflex, my eyes closed on their own and my hand fell in defense, protecting my face.
I waited. Literal for 3 seconds until I wondered if I had lapsed.
"Are you okay?" A chiseled voice sung through my ears with the touch of huskiness.
I peeked through one eye, slowly opening both of them to find that he had taken over the weight behind his back, effortlessly. He straightened his back, heaving the vase back in its position.
I blinked, unable to take in his rugged good looks that screamed celebrity vibes. His jawline had that perfect minimal definition with forest green eyes inclusion of little baby blue specks which showed up under the reflection of light. As for his hair-
"OMG! Millie, you alright? Can you get up?" Meredith asked in a worried tone, snapping me from the daze of affectional description.
"Huh? Uh yeah, I guess." I muttered, trying not to gaze at him again before I get lost in those detailed features of his.
"Our man saved your friend. So, as repayment, you have to give up the room to us." One of the men said Ginger head who was up against Meredith.
"Or! We can share that room. It'll be fun and I don't think it won't be a problem to explore the city with us." Hailey proposed.
What? How did she change her mind so quickly?
Hailey shot a wink at me, acting sweet with her fluttering eyes towards the Ginger-head.
He blushed, scratching his nape as he glanced at his friends for consideration. His other friend threw a thumbs up while the one who saved me shook his head lightly.
"Cool. We're in." He agreed, taking the elevator with her and Meredith sneaking out with the other guy after them.
They didn't wait for us and let the doors of the elevator shut.
Did they just abandon me?
I nervously tapped my foot against the floor of the elevator. We both were alone, waiting to reach the room that my friends had decided to share it with them."Um... I...nevermind." I mumbled, giving up to make a conversation with him.I didn't even get his name and all I could remember was his eyes that were captivating. Now that we're standing beside each other, he's pretty tall.Sucks to be short."Um, thank you for saving me earlier..." I mumbled, barely able to hear over myself. My ears were turning red and I felt a lump forming in my throat when he twisted to look at me.Okay, he's very intimidating. Did I forget I can't talk to boys well??He smiled, actually smiled with his lips stretched out and that added more charm to his face, brightening the glow in his warm eyes.I coughed, averting my gaze before I ende
Funny how things turn out whenever Las Vegas is added in the lives of an individual because it has gotten many untold stories and risks borne from it.Just like that, I had a story to tell as well but oh, boy! I first need to sober up.I laid flat on my back, staring at the mahogany ceiling which was halfway distracting my thoughts but nevertheless, I replayed the encounter with Noah Hudson. The guy seemed like a gentleman and probably older than me.Now, he got the good looks but I didn't have any fluttery feeling rising in the pits of my diaphragm. The feeling of flushed up by the butterflies.Or it's more like getting murdered by the butterflies?I blinked, frowning, baffled by my strange weird yet creepy thoughts emerging especially after midnight. I couldn't quite sleep since my mind has been occupied over certain someone."Hailey? Hailey?" I called out to her in a soft whisper. She hummed, shifting her slumpy body and drap
Grumbling filled the atmosphere. That's basically what my friends do a lot. It's a routine of ours or the torture I bestowed upon my best mates."This is all your fault. I was having such a perfect wedding dream." Meredith sighed dreamily, looking out the window."Eyes on the road, girl." I reminded, rolling my eyes at their pricked moods. They haven't stopped complaining about how noisily I woke them up, must I say, that I didn't care about that."Alright, let's stop all being moody and grumpy old men." Hailey shivered at the thought, "So where to next?""You should know. I am blank." I replied, shrugging."Right," Hailey mumbled, scrolling over her phone to search for the places to have ultimate fun.The last resort better not be the casino.I twisted my neck back, trailing my sight over the car riding behind us."Do they really have to tag along?" I asked, unappreciative for them tagging along."Yes
"Quit tryna make me feel bad." I sang loudly, snatching the mic from the reception. It was more of an announcement phone call I picked up from the Reception. My mind was fuzzy and buzzy but I didn't stop and climbed the reception table, dancing with the music playing in my head. As usual, I was minding my own business being completely crazy. For all I know, I had gone nuts because after that I was kicked out. "Welp... that didn't work out well." I pursed my lips, looking at Noah who was part of this plan. "We did break the rules so... how were you even able to take such a risk?" He asked in a disbelief tone. I guess I impressed him. "Been doing that since birth." I proudly stated. He noted with his silence responding in return, "Yeah, I'm gonna go." I grabbed his forearm, pulling him in swiftly. "Hey, hey! You can't just leave me here. I don't know about you but this is my first time here." He poked his inner cheek with his tongue as he distantly squinted his eyes, "And what
My friends must be wondering, how I survived the drink of liquor. Well, I didn't. They ended up doing the majority of the work, cleaning up the mess that I momentarily laid out for them. Now, clearly what happened? Oh, I would've enlightened you all but I don't know. All I know, I woke up with a massive headache where my insides were ripping apart.Or maybe World War III was channeling inside me."Millie! Do you have any idea what have you done?" Hailey shouted, deafening my hearing for sure.I groaned, hissing at the poking of my headache that wasn't ready to stop any second."Shut up." It came out as a whisper because of my sore throat. "Hand me some water." I coughed out, pushing my curly hair.Whoever it was, they did a good deed offering a cup of cold water which is what I was in need of. Once it went through the dryness occupying like a Sahara desert, I finally looke
For someone like me, what really mattered what was the most important thing after the disaster was to get back home. Not even last minute enjoyments, not the goodbye selfies.I had to get back home before the worse occurs than getting grounded. And speaking of my mother, she has her ways to make a living storm out of every situation. Not always, but still."What are you going to do about Noah?" Meredith asked who sounded genuinely worried.I shrugged, checking my bag for the umpteenth time as the fear of losing things back in the hotel that I'll never get again. For example."Found it!" I hugged my flip phone, taking a sigh of relief."Seriously??" Meredith scowled, getting back to her usual unbothered self.Hailey shook her head in disappointment, twisting her face towards me. "How can you worry about that than the mess you got yourself into?"I snarled, defensively protecting the phone that I treasure the most. "It's th
I sat in the back, munching on desserts or anything that could just be identified as edible. Slouching on the seat, I blankly stared at the road ahead which was dark and only the headlights were lighting up the path to my prison.Yes, I called my home a prison because I'm still grounded.I honestly don't make it sound like I am while taking a trip to Las Vegas. It's a surprise I even survived back there. Almost, I forgot I am now a married woman. Why did I ever meet that guy? It would've been better if I never met him but then I could've gotten married to someone else.Hmm... why did I even think of marrying him in my drunk state? It's not like my mom was nagging me to find a boyfriend or for her a son-in-law."Millie, what are you going to do?" Meredith asked after the silent treatment I was giving them.My flip phone survived, thankfully but it shut off on me due to the low battery. I didn't bring a charger along with the phone and I had t
No way. This isn't happening. My babysitter is none other than my husband, who I don't even clearly know well."What are you doing here?" I asked, unblinking at for the last minutes as mom went to grab some snacks."I should be the one asking that." He scoffed, flashing a smile to my mother across the room.Ugh! That billionaire smile that I have a crush on. Just on that! There's nothing more. I just got a thing for a dimpled smile."This can't be just a pure coincidence, could it be?" I asked, muttering to myself. He heard it well, frowning. "It could be. But I don't believe in fates and all."I gasped when he mentioned such a universal thingy. "How can you not believe in fates!? Wait, what about soulmates? Do you believe in them?"He shook his head, "That's all nonsense.""That's why you're single." I scoffed but did I forget such a detailed mess I had brought into my life?He laughed, "You're forgett
