Believe me

AZARIA POV

We walked out from the building with Nicholas hand still firm on my waist, pairs of eyes and murmurs filled the air.

I swear if this incident reached the ears of Ashley, I don't mind if he was the upcoming Alpha king, I would murder him and get away with it.

“Can you let me go now?”

I huffed angrily, hitting his hands off my waist but he refused to let go.

“Your Highness…” my father called out.

Nicholas faced him with a sheepish look on his face, “call me Nicholas sir, I don't mind.”

“Alright then, Nicholas, on behalf of my rude daughter, I want to thank you for everything you've done for my family.”

Rude?!

Did my own father just call me rude?

Did he not see the way this man keeps teasing me?

“It's fine sir, we will soon be inlaws, so it's quite normal,” he replied calmly.

I managed to escape from his grasp rushing to my father's side, “I never accepted anything, so whatever you're doing is out of your own goodwill.”

My father hit me, “Ouch! Dad… but it's true, a

Beneath the SurfaceAZARIA'S POVAshley went off after he left to check a badly functioning dummy. Killian and I remained there, standing by the red blinking light of one of the motion sensors.“He’s intense,” Killian said finally.“He’s... complicated,” I replied.“Did you two used to be something?”I looked at him, startled. “What makes you say that?”He smiled faintly. “It’s obvious. The type of tension which only can be born out of history and occurs only with such habitual repetition. Or heartbreak.”I didn’t say anything. He glanced at me. “Would you like to talk about it?”.“I really don’t.”“Fair enough.”Silence stretched. Then:“You know,” he said wistfully, sometimes people confuse power with control. But control comes from stillness. Out of knowing when not to strike.”I frowned. “That sounded awfully rehearsed.”“Or wise.” He winked, then looked over and assisted Ashley.I stood there, confused. Annoyed. Unsettled.---Later that same night, I saw the moon slide behind s

When Sparks ClashAZARIA POVAshley had this irritating thing of dragging me into things I had conspired nothing with before. And by annoying, I mean, from time to time even life-saving. Like today.‘Come on, Azaria,’ she had said after school, virtually pulling my arm off. “We will have to check out the newly introduced training gadgets. They’ve just changed them, the motion sensors, they’ve added a bit of an AI dummy which will kind of adjust to your level of power.”I groaned,“Sounds really great to be punched in the throat”.Ashley rolled her eyes. “That’s the point. It, you hit, not the other way around. Now scoot your cute but tired self before Marcel takes up all the cool things’.I let her tow me down the halls of the palace and out into the field beyond the academy and beyond the palace training quarters. The evening wind was a sharp thing, hissings secrets to me that I did not want to know. Similar to how Nicholas hadn’t spoken to me in days. Or how the silence between us wa

Through the FireNICHOLAS POVThe bell rang signaling closing hours, “we gotta hit the training room, I heard they brought in new gadgets.” Marcel said, his voice very hyped.I sluggishly turned to him, “it's barely been a second and you're rushing off to the palace.”Marcel arched a brow, “it's either you carry your royal butt and follow me or you won't get a chance to meet Azaria, she always follows Ashley to check out the gadgets alongside your sister.”I didn’t have any experience with this—to uncertainty. I did not think of myself as the one who had to find his or her way around in moods that don’t come with a manual. I had power, I had charm, for most of my life, I had control. But Azaria made all that sense like dust. And she messed up my foundation with one look, and now, I saw everything through it with even greater clarity: I was falling for her.Hard.I found myself standing at the periphery of the training field with my arms folded as I focused my sight on the horizon wher

A NEW FOUND PEACE AZARIA'S POVThe eastern gardens were less pristine than the rest of the grounds at the palace – more free, a little overgrown in the corners but that made them feel real. Unpolished. Just as nature had been allowed to breathe here.We leaned back on a stone bench, next to a fountain, and the soothing gurgle of water made a great background noise. The sun began to set steadily; shining the gold out on the leaves.Killian didn’t speak right away. He just outstretched his arms behind and his eyes now forever scanning the clouds.“You ever get the feeling that you’re meant for more but you’re just not quite sure what “more” should mean yet?” he asked eventually.I blinked, surprised. "All the time."He stared at me at that point, and there was something in his eyes, curiosity perhaps, or simply a quiet understanding.“I was a lot on the move in my childhood. Different packs, different people. Never really put down roots. But this place … it’s something else about it.”

Cracks Beneath the CalmNICHOLAS POVAs soon as Azaria walked on by, her shoulders pinched up as if the world had fallen on her, I knew something was wrong. She didn’t speak. Her eyes didn’t meet mine. So when she walked into that room with Ashley, I didn’t think twice, and followed into that room.It was wrong—I know. It was eavesdropping, but the way she.... . My back smacked against the cool wall, I hid near the corner of the hallway as I willed myself to hear every word.At first, it was quiet. Ashley’s voice was low, sharp then. Accusing. Azaria didn’t fight back. The hardest hit was that part. And simply stood there, allowing the words to evaporate through her like paper. Then came her voice. Sharp. Arrogant.“Maybe it's a sign for you not to be his mate.”My heart cracked. That sentence. Had that single sentence not been written, it would have dragged something ugly from me. Without thinking, without breathing, I pushed open the door. The room stilled.Turning like a blade, eye

Dreams don't lieAZARIA POVMorning sunlight fell through the half opened blinds, shining faint lines in the room. The remnants of last night’s dream still clouding my head, I blinked against it. My heart was uneasy, my body sluggish; I pulled myself out of my sleep for about half an hour or so, looking blankly at the walls before somehow falling back asleep. But even sleep wasn’t peace. In the morning, I was more silent than I usually was. Aunt knocked, took my room in, asked if I wanted breakfast, and I weakly smiled and declined. Although she didn’t press further, she could tell things felt off but didn’t push me to explain. Watering the vines, dad was out in the garden. Slung over my shoulder was a backpack, and I looked down, avoiding eye contact with him as I walked through the hallway. Not to them, I wasn’t ready to talk about it.I was unsettled by the dream. It felt so real.It was full silence till I walked to school. No fluttering birds. No rustling leaves. Even the wind se

A DREAM OR A WARNING?AZARIA'S POVBrushing cold fingers to my skin were the gusts of wind through the thick canopy of leaves. I gasped, clutching myself thinking I could understand what was happening. But I was dead sure—I was certain—that I had just been in my room. For now, I was standing barefoot in the middle of a very thick forest. The air was damp and heavy. It smelled of moss, wet bark. The dirt path under my feet glowed with the slithered moonlight through the trees."What the hell?" Heart pounding against my ribs, I whispered to myself. It was all surreal, a dream yet the sharp chill on my skin confirmed it wasn’t. I turned around trying to find a landmark, a cabin, anything. However, it seemed to go on forever in every direction and there was little to tell the one path from the next. I was like I was dropped in a looping maze.Carefully, I moved forward, my bare feet crushing twigs and leaves. At every sound, every rustle, my head twisted. I didn’t belong here. I shouldn't

BROKEN LOCKS AND FRAGILE HEARTSAZARIA'S POVAshley had ended the call so abruptly, I blinked at the screen in confusion."What the hell was that?" I muttered. The call dropped moments before, there was a muffled voice in the background, deep smooth, unmistakably arrogant. Nicholas. My pulse stuttered.I dialed her back.Once. No response.Twice. Straight to voicemail."Ashley, what are you doing?" Frustration hit me and I asked the screen.I walked from one side of that room to the other with my phone tightly in my hand. I did not want to think about Nicholas. I didn’t want to think about my heart skipping the beat when I heard his voice. Again. But my mind betrayed me.Why had he sounded angry?Did he hear something? No. No way.I tossed my phone on the bed and climbed in after it, laying my head on a pillow. I just wanted sleep to take me away, to dampen the noise in my head. But it didn’t. The thoughts only grew louder.Nicholas. His annoying confidence. His stupid smirk. The way

THE SUSPICIONS UNFOLDNICHOLAS POVI slammed the door to my private room shut, the tension from the argument with Ashley still simmering in my chest. Her words had cut deeper than she realized. I didn’t care what she thought of me, but a woman who thought that little of my intentions with Azaria, stung more than I expected. I exhaled with a sharp exhale as I ran my hand through my hair. I was all over the place and needed some clarity from my mind.Marcel was thankfully already seated at the edge of the long dark oak table which dominated the center of the room. The glow from the chandelier above cast sharp shadows across his face. His fingers beat slowly against the surface of the surface before he muttered, "You're late."Certain fact in hand, I pulled a chair out across from him and replied, "Ashley made herself a problem again."Marcel scoffed. "Isn't she always?""What do you have for me?"He pushed a thick folder towards me, and I opened it. "Mr. Landon... isn’t who he appears t
